He wasn’t the first person for it to happen to. And a lot of the stories he had heard about those first people were far worse.
Horror stories had plagued the news of people blacking out and waking up on a cold metal table. They were poked and prodded and cut into. The pain, they said, was unimaginable.
Then, they would wake up in their beds. Traumatized.
And pregnant with their own clone.
OR: Aliens abduct and impregnate Buck, and his family helps him through it—Eddie most of all.

He can’t remember ever having the wind knocked out of him like this. Eddie’s legs are shaky and his chest is going numb; it takes all of his strength to keep his hold on Bobby and Buck. He pants ridiculously, hyper-focusing on each inhale to ensure that the next one will come. He begins to wheeze, horrified to find that no matter what he tries, he can’t catch his breath. His heart, it… it feels wrong.

the void of all I haven't said
By: @hollyandvice
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Relationship: Evan "Buck" Buckley/Eddie Diaz
Characters: Evan "Buck" Buckley, Eddie Diaz, Maddie Buckley, Margaret Buckley, Phillip Buckley, Bobby Nash, Henrietta "Hen" Wilson, Howie "Chimney" Han
Additional Tags: Hanahaki Disease, Chronic Illness, Chronic Pain, Based on a Tumblr Post, Mutual Pining
Summary: The first time Buck's chronic hanahaki becomes a problem, he's five years old. It's one of the first times he's landed himself in the hospital, one of the first times he can remember his parents ever looking at him, but it feels different than the others. He's never thought too much about it, too busy running reckless into whatever fight or fire is in front of him. Too busy getting himself injured and in trouble. When he looks back on it one day, though, it'll feel different.
A retelling of 9-1-1 seasons 1-6 where Buck lives with chronic hanahaki for people he loves both as family and romantically.

where dead men lost their bones
By: @glorious-spoon
Rating: Mature
Relationship: Evan "Buck" Buckley/Eddie Diaz
Characters: Evan "Buck" Buckley, Eddie Diaz, Christopher Diaz
Additional Tags: Hurt/Comfort, Angst, Zombie Apocalypse, Blood and Gore, Amputation, Love Confessions, Ambiguous/Open Ending
Summary: Buck isn't squeamish—he's been a first responder for way too long for that. He's familiar with the brutal mechanics of how a human body can fail and bleed and fall apart, how easily people break. How sometimes the things you need to do to keep them breathing aren't pretty.
-
Or: the end of the world makes for some difficult choices.

The Price of Love (is high)
By: @spotsandsocks
Rating: Mature
Relationship: Evan "Buck" Buckley/Eddie Diaz
Characters: Eddie Diaz, Evan "Buck" Buckley, Howie "Chimney" Han, Bobby Nash, Henrietta "Hen" Wilson
Additional Tags: Angst with a Happy Ending, Cannon consistent drama, Angst, Trapped, Trauma, past traumas, trauma throwbacks, Drowning, Water, Broken Bones, hurting someone, Hurting Someone to Save them, Guilt, Regret, Family Feels, Getting Together, First Kiss, First Date, Love Confessions, Not Actually Unrequited Love, possibility of amputations
Summary: Buck and Eddie get separated from the team, trapped in a basement with water rising fast. Except one of them is more trapped than the other. Past traumas rear their head again and this time there doesn’t seem to be a way out that won’t break everything.
Or Buck has a plan to get them out but Eddie is not keen. Not keen at all.

this love isnt too holy (but i'm too far in)
By: @munchablemusic
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Relationships: Evan "Buck" Buckley/Eddie Diaz, Evan "Buck" Buckley & Eddie Diaz, Eddie Diaz & Henrietta "Hen" Wilson, Evan "Buck" Buckley & Christopher Diaz, Christopher Diaz & Eddie Diaz
Characters: Evan "Buck" Buckley, Eddie Diaz, Christopher Diaz, Firehouse 118 Crew
Additional Tags: Hanahaki Disease, Angst, Angst with a Happy Ending, Love Confessions, Unrequited Love, Not Actually Unrequited Love, Terminal Illnesses, Eddie spends a lot of this just talking, no beta we die like shannon, Dialogue HeavyGrief/Mourning, is it really mourning if you're grieving what could have been, Tenderness
Summary: Of course he had thought about his death before–that was just normal. A person thinks about how they would die all the time. But the fantasy of dying in a way that nobody could be upset at him about–that was appealing in its own way. He would get to say goodbye. There would be no arguing with the diagnosis. He would be gone soon, and everyone would remember the good parts, not the screwed-up, angry, impatient parts of him, the parts that he most disliked about himself. After all, no one remembers the bad things about the dead.
or, how do you cope when you're dying of a broken heart?

Summary: Fine. Eddie is obviously intent on having this conversation. That doesn’t mean Buck has to be compliant with it. “I don’t want that.”
“Yes, you do.” Eddie pauses so he can shift up in the bed just the tiniest bit more. “Buck, you need a partner. You need someone who’s there for you as much as you are for them. And being a single dad is so different from co-parenting. Don’t try to say that isn’t what we’ve been doing, because it is. You’ve been co-parenting Chris for years. And I’m sorry I might not be there to do it with you anymore.”
“STOP.” Buck doesn’t yell very often, but he can’t contain his knee-jerk reaction to hearing Eddie admit defeat. He takes a deep breath and looks at Eddie’s face, full of understanding and sorrow. “Please, stop. I can’t. Eddie, I can’t listen to you talk like that.”
OR: Eddie comes down with an unknown illness. Buck tries his best to cope and take care of Chris, while also wondering if he might lose Eddie before he's told him how he feels.

You always was a ghost around me (I want to keep you in our memory)
By: @disasterbuckdiaz
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Relationships: Evan "Buck" Buckley/Eddie Diaz, Evan "Buck" Buckley & Evan "Buck" Buckley's Parents, Daniel Buckley & Evan "Buck" Buckley
Characters: Evan "Buck" BuckleyEddie Diaz, mentioned buckley parents - Character, Mentioned Maddie Buckley - Character, Mentioned Daniel Buckley - Character

Summary: Tears were streaming down his face without his control, and Buck let them. He allowed himself this moment to break like a year ago when he first realized why this day every year in his family was such a way it was. Why did Buck always feel empty and sad, why did he hear how Maddie and mother and even father cried. Why his parents were especially absent on that day.
The answer is: that day is forever recorded as Daniel's birthday, but he had too little of them.
He cried and cried until the candles were about half the size, then Buck blew them out, but before doing that, he looked up and said.
“I’m sorry. I'm so sorry. You should have more time. We should have more time. I wish I could help you, big brother.”
Or, for three years Buck deals with grief of loosing Daniel alone at Daniel's birthday, and fourth time he is not alone anymore.
