4. Coral reefs are naturally colorful because of algae, which lives inside of the coral, providing them with food. 

5. The three main types of coral reefs are fringing reefs, barrier reefs, and coral atolls 

6. 25% of coral reefs are irrevocably damaged. 

7. Corals have barely changed over the last hundred million years. They are the same as they were during dinosaur times. 

8. Coral reefs can grow so large that they can be seen from outer space. 

9. Coral reefs can help to support local communities through tourism. Millions of people flock to see the reefs and this can support local people who provide food, accommodation and equipment. 

10. Coral reefs are among the oldest ecosystems in the world. They have been around for at least 230 million years.
