2017.......two countries, Italy, and France, and away from home a record four weeks for me! First stop 5 days in Rome, then meet with our painting group and we are off to the Tuscan hills and the Villa Schiatti near Cortona. We paint like crazy for ten days, then say goodbye to that group, and travel on with Karlyn to Besse la Sur in the South of France for another ten days of painting.......we will be home in October!2015......a NEW ADVENTURE! This time only two of us, but we are on to the Costa Del Sol and BENEJARIFFE where we will stay at La Finca Del Nino, a hacienda in the hills with a view of the Mediterranean Sea.2013 A 3 country excursion by 3 women of mature years to see friends, meet family, and gather material via our cameras from which to paint now and in the future......and then to share with anyone interested.

I thought the entry to Cezanne's studio was charming, so I have attempted to include it. His actual studio nearly fills the second, or as they would call it in Europe, the FIRST floor! The north facing wall is almost completely filled with windows, (multiple large panes) but even so, when he was working on his very large painting, "THE BATHERS" he felt that the light was still not enough. He had a floor to ceiling opening, complete with a door, built, so that he might have the painting taken out side to better view it. Visiting this studio was one of my very favorite things in France.

A close up on the right, and farther away on the left, in Besse-sur-Isolle. (Untitled so far) I keep looking at this, thinking it needs more, so maybe not finished yet.....This was the last village we went to in France, and it was just four miles away......some very agile, active folks either rode bikes or walked here a couple of times.I was happy to take the van!

"BASTIDE de AVILLANNE, BACK PATIO"..... The beginnings of this painting appear a couple of times earlier in the blog. First a single color, then with a second color. The original painting in the book remains as it was with just two colors. Elizabeth at Pixil Perfect Printing scanned the images, and printed it as it was on my "hot press" watercolor paper, and I have "finished" the painting....on one of the prints! It has been an interesting experiment.

“CEZANNE’S GHOSTS”……….We visited Cezanne’s studio while in France. It was “staged"to look like it might have during his time there. Many of the areas are very reminiscent of scenes in his paintings, or simply are objects sitting about that were salvaged from his time, or at least duplicates of them. In any case, when I saw these three skulls, I immediately knew what I was going to enter into the Chico Art Center’s ” Dia de Los Muertos" art show!

This is an unfinished painting that I tried to post last Friday. It can be two, faraway, then the less finished near, or the two actually connect. They are in a middle of the book. Also there is a painting on the back of the " far ".

All good things must come to an end......I am by no means finished with this blog......a few more photos will go in and I will post paintings to it as they are completed, but Sally and I slept in our own respected beds last night. We arrived home last night around 9 pm. Things are in reasonably good order except Catherine (Sallys Grandaughter who graciously drove us home from the airport, did a switcho chango on our bags and we must swap bags today!
It is good to be home, but what a fabulous trip! 27 days. Wow!

Katie is quite a good painter, plus she made hats for us all to wear. Even the staff wore them for a short bit and we all looked a bit demented as we worked away!

The last day at the Bastide de Avellanne was spent packing and trying to finish up work. I had time to work on only one painting and I wasn't able to finish it!

A nice drawing by Sally of the Front Door of the Bastide de Avellanne. She has toned the paper.
