Pre-order your copy of the Ogata: 20/20 calendar today!
To celebrate all things Ogata, a wide team of artists from around the world have contributed to the Ogata: 20/20 calendar.
Order your copy here:
https://ogata2020.bigcartel.com/
As this is a niche product we are trying to aim for a print run that is close to demand. Therefore, it is important that if you want a calendar you pre-order it by 5 November, 11:59 MST. The calendars are $20 - this features 12 pages of Ogata and a calendar that you can actually use as well. Each calendar will be 8.5 x 11 inches (21.59 x 27.94 cm). There will be a hole punched in the top so that you can hang the calendar.
Here is an example of the cover for the SFW calendar.
Here are some example pages from the calendar for the SFW version:
Tempy’s Febuary artwork above, Porcelaiinn’s March below.
For the NSFW calendar it has a slight different cover:
And there are two sample pages as well, AJoro’s May artwork with a lynx.
Damien’s July artwork for tanabata.
Why is this calendar $20? Is this expensive? The calendars are set at a price to cover our printing costs as well as our packaging e.g. cellophane, mailing envelopes etc. This is a standard cost for most fandom based made-to-order projects. We didn’t want to charge any more for it since it is a non-profit project and will donate the extra to the Big Cat Rescue. https://bigcatrescue.org/ Can you explain the reason for the shipping costs? Shipping is $5 in the USA - this allows us to have a buffer based on where we are shipping to, since prices will depend on distance for domestic envelopes. Shipping internationally will be $12 - earlier this year, we experimented with the cheapest way to ship 14 pages of the exact same type of paper stock to France and Australia. Unfortunately, in order to keep the shipping cost at $12, we will have to mail out each calendar individually and we can’t combine them. If we did that our calendars likely wouldn’t leave the country and they’d get stuck in customs.
So, yes, it may cost $24 to ship two calendars in separate envelopes, but they will be able to enter any country with little issue. If we tried another form of shipping, it would cost $30+ to ship two calendars and it would have more strings attached.

Getting to know the Ogata : 20/20 artists.
All of the artists are hard at work on their contributions to the calendar! To give you more information about them, we created a survey for them and will be displaying some of their work (if they wanted to contribute).
We asked our contributors the following questions:
1.) Fav medium?
2.) Artistic influences?
3.) What was your biggest drawing breakthrough?
4.) Favorite Ogata moment?
5.) Favorite season?
6.) Most GK thing that’s ever happened to you?
7.) Recommend a series besides GK:
Tempy - twitter @tempeachy
1.) digital <3
2.) rumiko takahashi, noda, naoki urasawa, leiji matsumoto, tsukasa hojo... a lot of my art influences come from vintage anime
3.) i draw a lot of traditional/cultural outfits and honestly every time when i draw those i get a rush after its finished cuz man i really Did All Those Details. I Did That
4.) any moment where he's actually interacting with yuusaku i love b/c i crave sibling interaction
5.) season 2!
6.) i don't know... tbh i'm drawing a blank on this but uhhh i have a book called "harukor" written by honda katsuichi (a famous japanese journalist) that i think describes ainu culture really well??
7.) A BRIDE'S STORY. it's got its Issues of course but it's similar to golden kamuy in the sense that there's gorgeous people & a focus on asian ethnic groups that are often overlooked (this series focuses on west asia!)
Alice Bell - twitter @angry_alice
1.) Digital and traditional inking.
2.) Hotline Miami and music videos w neo noir aestetics influenced my style for a while. Also western comic artists like Mike Mignola and Fiona Staples. And Q Hayashida to some extent.
3.) Live sketching and trying to learn anatomy and fundamentals? The boring essentials.
4.) Every time Ogata puts on faux nice smile, only to pull off something violent and awful afterwards, like that moment in Barato arc w scissors. Also anko nabe chapter finds new ways to fuck me up every single time.
5.) Manga
6.) When one of my clients at work, a senior lady, casually told me about her husband and how he was found gruesomely murdered in Siberia during mid 00's. She was very chill about it, said his lifestyle caught up with him.
7.) Recommend a series besides GK: Dungeon Meshi, Monster, Dorohedoro, Kaiji.
Quantivore - tw/insta @quantivore
1.) Procreate
2.) Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, Shigenori Soejima, Shirow Miwa, tacky 80s fashion
3.) Using a pentagram as a base for flower shapes
4.) The Russo-Japanese Sniper War
5.) Summer
6.) On school camp one time, we had to cook our own meals over an open fire. Giant moths were drawn to the flames and we couldn't keep them out of the food or discern them in the food because it was dark...so we ate them.
7.) MOB PSYCHO 100, Noragami, Disastrous Life of Saiki

Applications are still open for the Ogata: 20/20 calendar!! Looking for NSFW artists!
This is a reminder that we are still accepting applications for artists to contribute to the very fun and exciting Ogata: 20/20 calendar project for the next year!
The deadline to submit the applications by is midnight on 25 June, Mountain Daylight Savings Time. We are highly encouraging artists interested in NSFW contributions to the calendar to apply in addition to the SFW artists. We know you are out there ‘mature’ Ogata fans!
To apply, please use our Google submission form on the tumblr main page or FAQ list. We also have a link to the submission form on our twitter: 2020ogata
We will reply to all applicants within a week of the closing date (25 June) to inform all applicants of the results.
For the NSFW art, please keep in mind we are going for a tasteful pin-up style of artwork. We also understand that many people will not want to have to explain to others why they have an Ogata pin-up calendar at work, so this is being created for one to enjoy in the privacy of their own space.
Our publisher will not allow graphic sex acts, genitalia, or anything illegal. Find a way to creatively depict the sheer beauty of Ogata without getting us in trouble with the publishers!!!! Think like Noda - be like Noda. Get the point across without completely getting the point . . .. leave the viewer with some mystery - just like Noda.

Updates on the Ogata : 20/20 Calendar Project
On May 25th we were excited to open our application to all artists for submission and participation in the Ogata : 20/20 Calendar Project! We are still looking for more artists interested in applying.
The deadline for the submission of applications is midnight on June 25th (Mountain Daylight Savings Time).
We will reply to all artists who applied by July 1st. We will email you with our decision and those accepted will be invited to join a Discord server to discuss the project.
So you are interested in this project? Tell me more!
This project is analogous to a zine, the calendar will be comprised of artwork from a wide range of artist contributors.
Where can I apply?
You can apply with the following Google Form found here:
https://forms.gle/bPuF46t7dM6NU7mF6
or on the tumblr main page.
What will be the format of the calendar?
The calendar will consist of 14 pages in total: 2 cover pages and 12 pages for each month. The size of the calendar will be 8.5″ x 11″ (22 x 28 cm) US letter size; a touch smaller than A4 size paper.
How much will the calendar cost?
For those looking to purchase a calendar, it looks like the calendar will cost around ~$20-25 USD (since we will be printing in the States). We would like to keep the cost as low as possible and will do our best to make it as affordable as possible.
Will you be adding pre-order bonuses, extras and goodies included with the calendar?
Currently, we do not have any extras or merch planned for the calendar. If we do include extras, they will likely be stickers or postcards that can easily be packaged with the calendar itself when we mail them out. We all love charms, but we are worried about being unable to package them safely and cheaply.
Where will you be shipping from and how much will it cost?
Due to the wide geographical distribution and location of our team, we will be shipping from the States to keep costs down. We don’t have an exact estimate on the shipping cost but we think we can keep it below $11 for all packages mailed outside of the States. We will keep you informed!
What will you do with the mad profits that you make from this project?
We intend to use most of the money to cover the production and printing cost. As we will give a free copy of the calendar to artists, the rest of the cost will go to providing them with a copy of the calendar. Any extra profit that does not directly cover printing and production cost, the copies given to the artists, will be donated to a charity agreed upon by the artists.
I’m an artist on the project, what do I get?
As an artist you will get a free copy of the calendar. We are asking that you pay for shipping costs. Additionally, the back cover will have full information on all artists that contributed to the cover including your contact information.
Please feel free to reblog and spread the word!

Ogata : 20/20 Calendar Project
Introducing the Ogata : 20/20 Calendar.
We aim to make a 12 month calendar that is all Ogata, all the time. We will be making a SFW and a NSFW (tasteful pin-up) 12 month calendar. Please fill out our application form and our team will look at your portfolio before deciding on a team.
Each month has a predetermined and seasonally appropriate theme for calendar flow and content. Artistic styles though may be wide ranging; you only draw chibis? Not a problem. You like cat ear Ogata (seriously, who doesn’t)? Please submit. What we are saying is that we are looking for a fun calendar that matches the monthly theme more than the art style.
If you have already committed to other collaborative projects, please take this into consideration for this project. We don’t want to dissuade you from submitting but we do want to make sure we have full coverage for both calendars.
As far as the cost for the calendar, we are simply looking to cover the cost of printing and delivery - our goal is to break even on this project. This is a labor of love by Ogata fans for Ogata fans.
Participants will receive a copy of the calendar for their effort and input into this project.
We look forward to working with you and want to have a lot of fun with this! Think about it, the official Golden Kamuy Calendar only had 6 pages of Ogata, this is 12 pages of Ogata!
Here is the link to our application form:
https://forms.gle/neVUrdrdoGHmuKCN7
Any questions, send us an email or tweet at us:
