Niall wakes up with the sun’s bright hands peeling at his eyelids; all his muscles are loose and warm, and his whole body feels a thousand times lighter than usual, and for a minute, he just lays there and doesn’t think about anything at all.

Then the sheets rustle next to him, and there’s a tiny squeak, almost like an animal noise. Everything from last night comes pouring back. Dr. Amy’s going to have a field day with him.

“It’s still here?” he asks, though the well of hope within is barren.

Harry pulls the covers up, smiling. “I found those old towels so Louis will probably be too comfortable to make much noise tonight.”

“A name?” Niall whispers in despair.

“Thought it suited him.” Harry, still creamy from the moisturiser, kisses Niall goodnight and switches off the lamp, dousing them in darkness. He’s snoring long before Niall drops off.

Louis is an Opossum, and he’s moved into the walls.

Dearest @dearmrsawyer​ asked me what I thought about 1D as Aussie animals and unsurprisingly I have a lot of thoughts about it.

So, 1D as Aussie Animals!

hARRY

OBVIOUSLY A KANGAROO,

Our most iconic animal probably and they fall over ALL THE TIME

Can run really fast but looks like the most awkward thing you’ve ever seen on two legs? will get itself into trouble aka a trampoline and then dismount the WORST WAY POSSIBLE but is still okay? Easily startled and doesn’t know what do when it happens (baby kangaroos will jump back into the pouch when startled but haz sorry you’ve been too big for that for a whiiiiile).

look at these happy little fuckers and try to tell me thats not Harry

so I am sure this is gonna sound weird but BEAR WITH ME WOMBAT!

Liam is so the Wombat LET ME TELL YOU WHY.

Wombats are generally pretty shy ALA EARLY LIAM. You think he is pretty fucking harmless and oh look at him he is so cute and round and harmless and has floofy curls soft fur and you’re like oh he’s harmless and then he is CAUSING A RUCKUS(getting into dangerous spots, making comfy beds out of cushions not for him, tunnelling into backyards because he wants to get to them).

The only thing is that wombat Liam is DEFINITELY NOT TRYING to cause the ruckus he was just looking for some food thank you sorry very much okay.

and then probably doing it all over again accidentally.

They are territorial but family orientated like SO LOUIS.

AND HAVE YOU EVER SEEN A KOALA GET INTO A TUG OF WAR actually this might not be so accurate because all i can think of is Louis and Liam doing a tug of war over the microphone BUT THE METAPHOR OF IT LOUIS HOLDS ONTO THINGS AND PEOPLE OKAY.

Louis is definitely a Kookaburra (and also Kookaburra’s are one of my fave animals soooo) (but fuck me i considered koala - so cuddly!! and echidna - tries to sell itself as fierce but totally not. omg shit i am already questioning my decision better move onnnn before i change my mind again)

NIALL

okay I went back and forth on this and louis a lot because like yes, no, yes no fuck should niall be a kookaburra (laugh, kookaburra laugh) BUT I AM GOING TO STICK WITH KOALA LET ME TELL YOU WHY.

1d as cats

liam: brings all his little catnip toys to pile at your feet so you’ll play with him, is very particular about being brushed a certain way (especially near his face)

harry: gets himself stuck in the pantry and cries obnoxiously for hours even though the door was open the whole time he just had to push it a little bit

niall: constantly needs to be in your space especially across the keyboard when you’re working, if he can’t sit in your lap he has to have at least one paw touching you

louis: only plays with toys that make noise, runs manic around the house at 3am just because, is convinced he’ll starve to death if dinner is even 15 minutes late

zayn: doesn’t like to be held but still constantly demands to be pet, always gets up on the kitchen counter when he’s not supposed to be
