I would hold this man's fucking hand in the rain. I would wipe away his tears and protect him from harm. I would listen to him talk in the middle of the night. I would hug him from behind when I know that something is wrong even when he won't say it. I would pick him up little gifts because I think of him constantly. I would excitedly listen to him tell me about any and everything that interests him because his happiness is mine. I would share my blankets with him. I would make sure he never falls asleep on the couch alone. I would let my hand linger in the spot where he laid in the middle of the night just to be reminded of his warmth. I would speak of him to my friends with only the most adoring tones, because he has become not just a figure in my life but a fixture. I would stare at the clock and wonder if the days, hours, minutes, and seconds drag on for him just as they do for me when we are apart. I would see his name tucked in the corners of book shops and smile because I know he exists. I would wish ill upon those who wish him harm.
