Her comment is... unexpected, but Naveen just laughs along. "Yeah. I blame Rolex, those capitalist bastards." He's going to just joke along with it because he doesn't feel the need to get into that too deeply. He does know that when he was a frog, it was incredibly hard to tell time if he couldn't physically see a clock. The day just went by, turning into night, time not caring about how stressful of a predicament you're in. Time feeling, very much, like an illusion.
"Well... thank you," he doesn't know what he's said to be all that funny but he'll never turn down a compliment, "I certainly try. And no, I don't. But I've been here a few times. You though, you could turn me into a regular," he gives her a grin.
He waves the bartender over, ready to buy her whatever she wanted. He does let her order, though; he's not going to assume he knows what she'd like, he always felt like that was kind of a shitty thing to do. He orders himself another vodka soda, though.
"I mean, you don't have to thank me, that's all completely in your right to do," he says, leaning an elbow against the bar. "You can call me Naveen. It's nice to meet you, Cat."
Why was he here. "Just needed a fun night, I suppose. A little escape from reality, so to speak. Not to mention, this place has great music and even better dancers." Naveen takes a sip of his drink, looking at her. "I don't really know too many better places than this, but if you have any recommendations, I'm definitely open," he gives her a small smirk.

Cat had finished her last performance of the night and changed into a short, black dress. She had her heels on still and her hair and makeup had stayed elegantly in place. She'd sauntered over to the bar area when a fine looking man caught her attention. With a smirk on her face Catherine turned to face him, listening to him speak. She rarely forgot a face and Cat knew she'd seen his at least once or twice. "Clocks don't matter. Time is just an illusion. Who decided that small devices dictate what we call time?" She plucked the fifties from his hand and her smirk turned into a grin. "You're funny," she commented. "You don't come here a lot." Catherine loved the attention she received but she didn't mind blending into the background every now and then, quite literally. "I will let you buy me a drink." She nodded once before taking the seat next to him at the bar. She could hear Mamo's voice in the back of her head telling her that this was the part she was supposed to say thank you at. Flattery didn't get people very far though and neither did free drinks. She could make a game of this though, the man clearly seemed to be interested enough in her. "I suppose this is the part where I thank you." Cat looked over at him with mysterious eyes and a mischievous smile. "What's your name? You can call me Cat," she told him. Curiosity struck her though and she asked, "what made you come here tonight? Have you no better place to be?"

"I am so, so sorry," he says again, though she does seem to be not mad at him, which is a relief. She's a far more understanding person than he is, it seems. "You're alright otherwise?" he asks, looking her over. He can't help but notice how stunning this woman he'd almost knocked over is. "And I will worry about it, just a little. There must be something I can do to make it up to you. At the very least, let me buy you a new drink. I insist," Then, when he feels that that could seem a little too demanding, he adds, "please."
Tumblr media
She didn't see it happening until it was too late, her peppermint mocha cold brew with extra whipped cream slipping from her grasp before she even got the first sip, splashing her boats in the process. She tried to be an understanding person, but she couldn't help the frustration that spiked watching the drink spill all over the sidewalk. "Oh, on my brand new—" Lottie started, but her words were stopped abruptly when her eyes lifted to the man towering over her. Tall and beautiful. Heaven help her. Just like that, coffee was the last thing on her mind. "Don't even worry about it, darlin'," spoken in a much sweeter tone now that she'd caught her breath. "Accidents happen."

Naveen is offended she'd laugh at his struggles, but he doesn't say anything because he needs her help desperately.
He listens to her story though, and he's glad he's not the only one that fell for Hollywood's nonsense. He smiles a little as she helps her up. It's almost a touching moment.
Until she falls as well. "Ha! That is what you get for laughing at--" he starts laughing, but as she falls while pulling him up, she ends up pulling him right down with her.
After a moment on the ice, he concedes, "Alright, maybe karma is sending both of us a message today..."
Nani cackled as her companion ended up on his ass. She wasn't doing too hot herself, sticking close to the wall and shuffling her skates along.
She had good balance, she'd been surfing her whole life, but this was something entirely different and her mind and body embraced the challenge with gusto.
"Movie magic is the bane of my existence," she replied, shuffling forward to hold out her hand.
"When I first was learning to surf, I watched all these movies and would get so pissed when I got thrown," she recalled, smiling. She leaned back to lever Naveen to his feet and felt her own skates go out from under her.
With a shriek, Nani lost her balance and fell onto her back as well.

⛸️ - Nani
“Honestly, I thought I’d be better at this,” Naveen chuckles as he almost falls for at least the seventh time. Between all the dancing he’d learned to do and also at one point having to learn how to move around as a frog, he really thought ice skating would be no problem. “some of the people out here make it look so easy—all of the holiday romance movies make it look so easy— Shit!” He exclaims as his legs (or he’ll blame the skates) shoot out from under him and he very ungracefully falls back, now sitting on the cold ice.
“I don’t… no, don’t even look at me,” he covers his face with his hand, almost wanting to laugh at himself, but also being a little too prideful to see the humor in this just yet. Naveen takes a breath and then looks up at her, “actually, do look at me, I need help up…”

Naveen wasn't watching where he was going. Looking at his phone, was a mistake on a busy sidewalk, and yet here he was. He hears the bells of a door opening not too far ahead of him, but still doesn't look up and crashes right into someone. He looks up, apologetically, but notices he has knocked the to-go mug right out of her hand.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry!" he says, going to make sure she's alright, and to make sure she isn't covered in whatever beverage she'd been carrying. "I need to be more careful. Are you alright? Here, let me help; I-- I can get you a new drink."

Naveen always liked to take care of himself physically. Pampering himself in different ways. So he often found himself in Until Sunrise. It was a nice little boutique and he liked to have plenty of skin care products on hand just in case... something happened. He tries not to think about it; like thinking about it would make it happen. And maybe it's just a habit ever since his... incident to make sure his skin stays hydrated, because as a frog you're either far too dry or far too wet. There you go, thinking about it again, he scolds himself internally.
He smiles at the owner as he enters. Sarah always seemed nice. A little odd, but hey, who wasn't. She was also very interesting to talk to. (And, okay, yes, she was also nice to look at.)
"Hey, Sarah," he greets her with a grin, "How is my favorite shop keeper doing on this... honestly way too too cold afternoon? Is that a new dress? You look fantastic, as always."

He wouldn't say he frequented Wonderland, but he had definitely been there more than the average person probably has. But what wasn't to love about the place? The decor, the music, the dancers... it was just a good time to be had.
As one set came to a close, he found himself off to the side, waiting in the most casual and least creepy way he could attempt to. He has a feeling there are a few handfuls of absolute creeps that can linger and he really doesn't want any of the dancers to think that's what he is.
As one of the women walks by, Naveen casts her a smile. "I'm sure you hear this all the time, but you are one hell of a performer. And dancer; you certainly know how to put on a show," he says, a light laughter in his tone. "And you have such a dazzling smile. You probably get offered this a lot, but I would love to buy you a drink-- once you're off the clock, of course. If not, no worries," he brings up his hand, a few fifties folded neatly held between his first two fingers, "I also wanted to give you a tip, in a, um, slightly less invasive way."

NAVEEN SINGH | 32 | CURSED HUMAN | HEIR/RESTAURANT WORKER
Tumblr media
Pronouns: He/Him Sexuality: Bisexual Sun Sign: Leo Height: 6'
ABOUT:
Naveen has always been spoiled. Wanting the finer things in life and wanting to have fun were his only two priorities. A different party every night, a different fling every other, a life of pure ecstasy and euphoria was what Naveen was after. He never worried about the cost of anything or what all the excess of ‘fun’ might one day do to him. Naveen never really worried about anything. He just lived his life, had fun, spent money, drank, partied, fucked, and had a good time doing all of it. Being serious or responsible wasn’t ever on his task list. It was because of all this fun loving and good time having, playboy lifestyle that Naveen found himself cursed. Too much arrogance, too much of a good time—which it turns out there is such a thing as— and poof, he was a frog. It was, honestly, the worst thing he could’ve imagined. Who wants to party with a frog? No one. Not to mention all the other, existential fears and realizations that come along with it, but Naveen does his best not to dwell on those things.  Ever since waking in Evermore, Naveen has tried to be on his best behavior. Or, at the very least, he learned how to set some limits. He’s not ready to give up the lifestyle he loved so much, but there’s a constant worry that something will be a little too much and he’ll be a frog again. At least here, it seems there’s other magic at play in the world, so perhaps there’s someone out there that could help him figure out the curse? He doesn’t want to have to actually be a better person to make it go away. He doesn’t even know if that *would* make it go away. So for now, he’s doing his best to be on his best behavior—which, honestly, isn’t that good. But at least he *attempts* to have empathy. That should be good enough. For now. Hopefully.
HEADCANONS:
TW: Drugs/Alcohol mention
Naveen has a motto that he’ll try anything once, just for the hell of it. So he’s done his fair share of party drugs. On top of that, he’s definitely adventurous in many different ways when it comes to what he’ll do and who he’ll do it with.
Naveen really does want to do better here in Evermore because he really doesn’t want to be a frog again, it’s not pleasant. The transformation doesn’t feel good and you really can’t do much of anything. But it’s so hard to be on your best behavior in Evermore when there are so many interesting things (and people) to do.
He loves music, it’s one of his least destructive habits. He sings, he plays several instruments, and loves any kind of music, but Jazz is definitely some of his favorite.
Growing up wealthy and well-off, Naveen had the best tutors and learned a lot of things that he rarely used nowadays. Other than the ballroom dancing lessons—and other dance lessons—and the few languages he studied, most of that other etiquette stuff he threw out the window long ago. It’s all still in there, somewhere, though. He probably could remember how to be a gentleman if he really wanted to.
Naveen is bisexual. There are a lot of attractive people out there.
He’s very charming, he knows the right things to say and how to say them. His intentions are never malicious, though. Just usually a little selfish. For as arrogant and pretentious as he can be, he’s not really a mean person. Sassy and sarcastic, yes. But there’s really not a lot of malice in him. It’s just ignorance.
He loves going to parties, or anything that could be seen as a party.  He loves hanging out and having fun, drinking and dancing with anyone. He’s here for a good time, not a long time.
The whole frog thing does mess with him. It was a nightmare being a frog, not just because of the fact that he was turned into a frog, but because there were several times he was almost crushed, or eaten. The real reason he doesn’t want to turn into a frog again isn’t vanity, it’s fear. It’s not a good time, it’s not fun. You’re always cold as a frog. You’re so small and defenseless. It really does make him think about being a better person, and he really does try, but it’s so hard not to toe the line. He just wants to have fun without the consequences. At this point, he’d take any other consequences the world had to throw at him. He doesn’t know how to be free of the curse; he really doesn’t think he is.
Very flirtatious, a little hopelessly romantic. Not quite ready to settle down, but always looking for a good time, whether it’s a fwb situation, an on again off again thing, one night stands, really anything. He just wants to have fun, he just wants a good time, and he always makes sure whoever he’s with has a great time, too.
He works at a restaurant now, and he doesn’t know how he feels about it. It’s a lot of work, but it can be fun. Its the first time he’s been so responsible in his life. After the first couple of shifts, he hasn’t been late, and he prides himself on that. He’s learning to have a good work ethic, and for as exhausting as it can be at times, sometimes there are moments where it feels a little rewarding.
(He does also hope that having a job is a good enough counterbalance to the curse, though. He’s not sure if it is. But it’s been working out so far…)
