fair, warning, this includes the prologue

pro:

basically we meet bestie main character but like, in a flash back kind of. Where we meet someone else who is is love interest and then we see how they first meet and then see them happy and together a few years later and then ominously states that the main character bestie was captured by bad guys later n’ stuff and when he finally was returned to normal love interest bestie went missing years ago with a trace behind.

ch 1:

World building info about stuff like the Society of Phantoms (baddies who are supplied with dark magic by an unknown source who want to erase magical life so that there are only humans) the Knights of the Inbetween (and age old organization sworn to good and keeping balance by an oath forged by the elves which also magically enhances them) a little bit about the Last War from three thousand years ago (which was the reason why most magical creatures went back to their hidden little corners of the world like the Inbetween (a valley between two mountain ranges) and (most of them) to the Enchanted forest.) Main character had a bestie now tho, who is a working knight since after bestie main character’s experience being basically mind controlled by the Society (because of their very helpful dark magic thing called the Eye of the Underground) main character unofficially “retired” from being a Knight (unofficially because he didn’t turn in his oath, so he’s still magically enhanced and under the laws of the oath) and this friends name is Axel. Anyway they’re having a nice conversation when main character sees a face in the other side of the market who looks EXACTLY like love interest from his past just vibing in a scarf stall and helping a costumer. He warns Axel but like, subtly so Axel isn’t quite sure about who he’s talking about. Axel buys time by going over and talking with her about scarf fabric samples n’ stuff. She noticed main character staring and asks if he needs help. He’s like ‘no, I’m just with my friend here. By the way you look like someone I used to know.’ And she’s like ‘I have one of those faces:)’ and he’s like ‘ok then’ BUT THEN Axel asks who this person he thought looked like sus person was like and sus person is the one who answers (perfectly, first and last name, personality, description) and now main character is shocked and like ‘how the hell did you know that’ and she just innocently ignores the question and is going to grab the scarf Axel bestie wanted but he grabs her arm and is like ‘how. Do. You. Know. That.’ Then when she innocently ignores him again he pulls up one of her selves and shows that there is no scar at all, even though love interest had one, and (shocked again) looking up he sees that this new sus person with the fake face looks real smug about it. So he and Axel basically arrest her and go off to the nearest Knights base where we meet the head Knight and Fake Face Bestie gets to go to a prison for a little while until they figure stuff out.

ok so I finished this rough draft and it’s a fantasy novel thing called Faces and Fanged. I’m going to like— give a vague wrap up of each chapter (there’s 33) unless you don’t want me to spoil anything, on the off chance that this book becomes ✨published✨ (that’s the goal eventually but I still need to work on it)
