Caption on post - Yesterday's updates on Nakba Day (May 15), as Palestinians commemorated 76 years of the ongoing Nakba, Gaza has gone through 222 days of genocide. Gaza itself was born out of the Nakba, so on this day we must understand that what is being committed against the Palestinians in Gaza is not separate from the ongoing Nakba, it is part of the constant process of colonization and displacement of Palestinians from our homeland.
‘The Suicide of Cleopatra Bitten by the Asp’ Giovanni Pietro Rizzoli, known as Giampietrino, sixteenth century, oil on wood, 28 ¾ x 29 ½/ in. (73 x 75 cm), Musée du Louvre, Paris
Cleopatra was a powerful woman indeed. Queen of Egypt (69-30 BCE), she was successively the wife of her brothers Ptolemy XIII and Ptolemy XIV, who sent her into exile. As mistress of Julius Caesar, however, she was to return to power and, with the assistance of Rome, strove to restore Eeypt's hegemony over the Mediterranean. After the death of her lover, Caesar, she married Mark Antony, who offered to divide the East with her. Threatened by this confederation, Caesar's heir Octavian fought Antony and Cleopatra's troops at Actium, roundly defeating them. In order to save their honor, the only option for the defeated was to commit suicide. Until the very end, Cleopatra controlled her own life and those of the men around her. She is for this reason a prototype of the dangerous femme fatale.
israel promotes itself as the protector of the different religions &people in the region. This is absolutely not true. As an Egyptian, our easter boarders are with the occupied Palestine. There were many wars between Egypt and israel. Israel has occupied Sinai, the eastern part of Egypt, before for 6 years. We feel constantly threatened by Israel alThough the state has a peace treaty but it is against our will. And israel is not abiding by it. Everything it has done in Gaza defies it. And we Egyptians are in great fear that our Sinai might get occupied again as israel still wants it. All we can do is just pray as we are helpless.
So 50 operational tunnels have been discovered from Rafah to Egypt (there have been suspicions for years but now we have solid proof), are you thinking what I'm thinking? Might this be where Hamas has gotten their alternate "humanitarian aid" replenished? Might that be how Hamas terrorists were able to fly to Turkey for medical care? And the most frightening, might have the hostages been transported through there?
I'm starting to question the "peace" we have with Egypt
girl what do you mean "there have been suspicions for years but now we have solid proof"??? Egypt has been flooding tunnels between Gaza and itself continuously. Implying that Egypt purposefully lets these tunnels exist is really ignorant. Egypt has no interest, maybe a completely negative interest, in allowing Hamas (aka Muslim Brotherhood) operations within its territory, point blank. They represent 2 completely opposite factions both from an ideological POV and a pragmatic one. Egypt is a huge failing country on its own, u think it has the resources, time and clout to deal (over and over again) with whatever the fuck is happening in this mega "island" detached from its central district?
So I'm really thrilled to be re-launching my website, Wepwawet.ca. It has been a real labor of love to get it back up and running again.
I had a conflict with my previous hosting provider where they couldn't seem to solve all the issues which were clearly on their end, but they refused to admit it and kept pawning it off on me (it wasn't me, to be clear) and then paying a bunch of lip service to having "fixed it" (when they most certainly did not fix it) after which I would have the same recurring problems over and over again.
I was frustrated and ripped the whole thing down months ago as a result, and I thought to myself I might never even re-launch it.
But! I had the calling to get it done, and so here we are, back and better than ever: Wepwawet.ca, one Practitioner's devotional work to their beloved Ancient Egyptian Deity: Wepwawet. Every time I think back to my 19-year-old self just getting started with following Wepwawet and a Kemetic path, I get tingles thinking there could be other folks out there looking for more information so that they too can get started.
There are still some areas that need tweaking and improving, and I will probably post more personal content over it over the next few months, but overall it is solid on regular 'commercial' hosting and at least I don't have to worry about the site tuning out every week or so.
