Buck coma dream analysis part 2

Also I just realised i didn’t explain that my reason for bringing its a wonderful life into this is cos the episode made multiple references to it and chimney even said “like in it’s a wonderful life?”

• anyone else think it’s kinda suspicious, kinda weird that in the coma dream Buck is a teacher (distinctly for young children not highschool kids) and who did Eddie last date? Oh yeah Ana Flores aka Christopher’s teacher, evan buckley I know what you are👀

• I haven’t watched it’s a wonderful life in a while but this caused me to rewatch it and if you guys are looking for more Buckley-Diaz family confirmation I got just the thing, the first opening lines of the movie are different people praying for the main character George to be helped by god, all the prayers line up very well with bucks character saying things like “i owe everything to him” “he’s a good man,give him a break” “he doesn’t think about himself” but most importantly and most relevantly one of those people is his kid and she says “something is the matter with daddy, please bring daddy home please bring him back”, remind you of anything? Perhaps a certain child who sat at his bedside asking what was wrong with him and told him to come back from wherever he is? Yes I audibly gasped when I remembered that from the movie

•the placement of Maddie’s bruise being in the same place as when he went to the hospital asking to stay with her and she mentions things at home being complicated in his brain this was the moment he should’ve noticed the warning signs

• in the final coma scene where coma Daniel chases him into the medicine closet and tries to convince him to stay in the coma (die) and that there is nothing for him out there you see yet another It’s a wonderful life reference this time it’s a white board in the background of the medicine room that says "No man is a failure who has friends." which is what in the movie is meant to wrap up the moral of the story and make George not commit suicide. That’s why this line and episode I feel confirm for me that that self destructive behaviour we saw in buck begins actually is a lot darker than what we saw, not only that but this also links in with what we know is Buck’s biggest fears- being a failure (“they think I’m a loser maddie, but I’m not) and being alone. I also feel like while it being writing is a reference to the movie, it being writing AND in the background AND the audience not even having their attention bought to it is just sort of a metaphor for how loud and prominent dark thoughts (Coma Daniel) can be. In conclusion I am never forgiving the Buckley parents cos making your kid think you only care about them if they’re bleeding leading to years of what can be referred to as passive self harm and suicidal ideation isn’t okay ❤️

• the creepy orderlies- no clue what this means but it’s unsettling

• chimney and hen calling Eddie “angry guy” I feel like this is such a callback to eddies spiral and the boxing thing, as buck is realising how wrong the coma world is a thing that sticks out and is meant to disorient him is Eddie being referred to as an angry guy

• also within that conversation did anyone else think they were gonna say that Chris didn’t make it from the tsunami and then it’s like they reworded mid conversation? Cos I did and I feel like it tracks well with it being bucks brain because he’s tryna think of this world where he’s not involved in their lives so he has to detangle himself from the story and see how it would be so the first line “ you would be (angry) too if you lost your kid” then you see pure fear on Buck’s face because it insinuates something different where you can see where his mind went until they explain that Eddie lost a custody battle. Because at first in his brain it’s like oh shit Chris would’ve died in the tsunami but then it’s like no he wouldn’t have been there if it wasn’t for buck but then it’s like Eddie would’ve lost him in a different way still and it’s like he’s reasoning with himself

• the pregnant yoga ladies - sperm donor storyline or father/son Bobby and buck moment callback?

•the tv in the waiting room looks to display an earthquake - which is both a callback to the early seasons and foreshadowing

• also I really hope that this doesn’t happen but there have been hints that point toward buck leaving LA and going to Italy because in the movie George says something about leaving the town behind and going to (a list of places) but first among that list was Italy and the cardiologist also mentions Italy in the next episode and buck says he’s never been

And then I remember Maddie kept all of his post cards and letters which gave her hope and lead her to him when she escaped and it puts me in a-fucking-coma.

The Buckley Siblings & Buckley Parents: Season 7

Maddie's getting married and Buck’s going to be in the wedding but... don't forget Margaret and Phillip will return to L.A. to attend.

Why is this important?

It's important because EVERY TIME the Buckley parents go to L.A., they're only there because Maddie invited them and EVERY TIME things don't go well for Buck.

Before I get started, I need to preface this for all the people who are going to say, "I thought Maddie's and Chimney's wEdDinG was sUpPoSEd to be about them"; it will be but please remember Buck is Maddie's brother and EVERY TIME the Buckley parents were in Los Angeles, Chimney was there with Maddie and Buck and he witnesssed those $hitshows in person. Also, this post is about the Buckley siblings and their parents and how things always unfold when they show up.

Let's stroll down 9-1-1 memory lane for a minute shall we...

Season 4 - they traveled to L.A. because Maddie was pregnant.

In 4x4, Maddie was pregnant with Jee-Yun and after Buck returned from Austin, TX, she told him that she invited their parents because she wanted her daughter to have a normal family with grandparents who would be involved in her life. But Buck told her she should have gotten knocked up by a guy who had one of those. She responded she was willing to try and after some convincing, he agreed to try too.

Here are the Buckley's arriving at Chimney's and Maddie's apartment and please look at Margaret's face. It's evident she didn't want to be there. They had dinner but it was awkward, especially since Maddie told their parents about Buck being in therapy.

Their second dinner turned into a $hitshow of epic proportions after they gave Maddie a baby box but they didn't have one for Buck.

Before I move on, please take a look at how Margaret scowled at Buck. Her face was filled with a look of digust. I wonder why that is🤔?

Their argument ended with Buck begging them to love him anyway.

At the end of 4x4, Maddie finally told Buck about Daniel and their conversation continued into 4x5.

In 4x5, after Maddie revealed the truth about Daniel's Juvenile Leukemia, Buck was devastated and he stopped talking to her.

Also, he told the 118 he was used for his "defective parts".

At the end of the episode, Buck apologized to them for not being able to save his brother but the audience didn't see them ask him to forgive them and IMO, that was on purpose.

When he arrived at Maddie's and Chimney's he looked like he was all alone. But they talked and made up.

Season 6 - they traveled to L.A. to see Maddie's new house.

In 6x10, Maddie told Josh her parents wanted to see their new house even though it wasn't finished being renovated but reminder, Margaret and Phillip loaned them the money for their down payment and that's why they wanted to see it. (Actually, they wanted to see Jee-Yun but they used the house as an excuse.)

Before Buck, Maragret and Phillip arrived, Maddie said to Chimney, "You're right. We have nothing to worry about. It's not like anybody's going to drop any deep dark family secrets this time". 👀

There has to be a secret, otherwise she wouldn't have said that.

After Buck picked them up from the airport, they only talked about the weather and after they arrived, Maddie went to get Jee-Yun and brought her into the living room. In the photo above, Buck's in the background and even though Maddie's in the foreground, she's partially in the dark about whatever secret Margaret and Phillip are keeping from both of them.

When Margaret saw the sonogram on Buck’s phone, the look on her face was one of disbelief NOT SHOCK.

It was almost like they COULDN'T BELIEVE BUCK GOT SOMEONE PREGNANT. 👀

While they were there, Buck got struck by lightning.

And he died for three minutes and seventeen seconds.

Season 7 - They'll be in L.A. for the third time but it still won't be for Buck because they're going to Maddie's wedding.

It's likely they will be at the hospital to visit Chimney but what kind of chaos will ensue this time since EVERY TIME THEY SHOW UP, SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS TO BUCK?

Reminder, they only go to L.A. when it's for Maddie, i.e., her pregnancy, her new house and in season 7 it will be for her wedding. For whatever reason, in 4x4 they only had a baby box for Maddie 👀. And remember before they leave, something bad ALWAYS happens to Buck.

I have an idea of what might happen and why it will. My theory has EVERYTHING TO DO WITH BUCK’S BIRTH AND THE SPERM DONATION HE DID FOR CONNOR AND KAMERON. (But I'm still debating if I will post it. If I do, I'll post it before the season begins.)

I’m not talking about what we know happens with the wedding.Tthis is about the fact Buck has invited Tommy to the wedding and it’s highly likely that by the time the wedding day arrives he hasn’t told his parents about having a boyfriend. Im exploring the idea that his plan seems to be to just turn up with a boyfriend in tow - if the wedding goes off without a hitch is irrelevant at this point - as Chimney going missing hasn’t happened yet.

Whatever happens with the wedding canonically, it’s objectively funny that bucks plan is likely to drop that bomb on them during proceedings.

I would also argue that as long as Maddie andChim get married, Maddie won’t mind that her big day took a bit of a detour to get there - it will still be about celebrating her and chimney and their love and their future together. They’re in breakable and whatever they go through will only make them stronger.

I do however think Maddie would mind if her parents chose to be awful and make the day about them (missing groom or not) and their shock etc in relation to Buck having a boyfriend - something Maddie knows about and is happy about. The Buckleys have form for putting themselves at the centre of everything after all - look what happened when they found out about the sperm donation!!!

The Buckley parents deserve to go straight to hell and their redemption arc makes me foam at the mouth (negative)

More on that: the insistence of a show that is so deeply rooted in the concept of found family to constantly give shitty parents redemption arcs is so irritating

Maddie Buckley didn’t raise buck since she was 9 years old while dealing with her own trauma or give him her jeep and money (AKA HER LITERAL SAFETY NET TO ESCAPE HER ABUSER) just so people can sit there and call her a bad sister -I’m a Maddie Buckley defender and I stand by that

Both sides were flawed with the lawsuit thing and neither should be too harshly judged- Bobby kept buck out when buck already proved himself but he was doing it out of protectiveness in his own flawed way because let’s be honest he just saw the guy he considers a son nearly die in front of him three times in one year and saw the PT and toll it all took through the whole process and keep in mind he’s already lost 2 kids already but buck also shouldn’t have sued impulsively or disclosed such intimate information and should’ve tried to take a more rational approach but let’s also be fair and remember this is the guy THAT DID GO THROUGH ALL THOSE THINGS IN THAT SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME like no one would be okay mentally, no one would be rational, not when you spend a shit ton of time to recover only to be told (in his brain at least) that it’s not enough from someone you not only consider as a mentor, friend and father figure but also the same person who was motivating you through your recovery

The way Shannon spoke about Christopher’s cerebral palsy will never not rub me the wrong way I’m sorry to any who love her

I actually hated the whole thing with Hen and the madney engagement like idk why the writing felt it was appropriate to try to compare Hen CHEATING (granted it was ooc and in season one) with Maddie suffering postpartum depression make it make sense- they could’ve had the same level of hen and chimney friendship moment/ hen looking out for him without doing this type of thing which just made me a little angry with hen while watching it but ultimately deciding this storyline doesnt exist in my brain
