Exciting news: We've just created some flyers for Praxis to help spread the word. If you're interested, you can access the high-res files for both the front and back designs here: front & back. Feel free to print them out and share them in your area if you'd like. Your support means the world to us!

Hello! I saw the link to Praxis, clicked and became intrigued. As far as I can see, it’s not fully inhabited yet, but it seems promising. I have a question, though.
Currently, it’s set up to be a perfect social medium for political/physical community organizers, which is great!/gen However, will the platform be open to online communities like fandom spaces? I think having a new, much more publicly run social media site would be great in the current climate of rampant bullshit, but I wouldn’t consider completely moving without there being room for fandom spaces.
This is not a diss or a critique of the current focus of the site! We need spaces where we can set up and plan for societal change and, although right now it’s in its beginning stages, your site looks like it’s shaping up to be the perfect place for that. I love the direction it’s currently going in, I just wanted more information.
Hi there! Thank you so much for taking the time to explore Praxis and for sharing your thoughts with us. We're thrilled to hear that you find the platform promising, and we appreciate your question about its scope.
While Praxis is designed with a focus on political and physical community organizing, we absolutely welcome a diverse range of interests and content on the platform. We believe in fostering an inclusive space where users can share their passions, whether they're related to politics, fandoms, or any other topic.
Your feedback is incredibly valuable to us as we continue to develop and refine Praxis. As we're still in the early stages, now is an excellent time for us to gather input and further testing from users like you to ensure that Praxis evolves into a platform ready for serious use in organizing spaces.
Thank you again for your interest in Praxis, and please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any further questions or suggestions.

We’re excited to introduce Vibe Checks for the Praxis website, inspired by the process we’ve developed in our Discord server. With this new feature in place, new members will be able to answer a list of community decided questions, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all who join the website.
Here’s how it works: Vibe checkers, selected by the community, read over the answers and engage with new members in their respective questionnaire tickets, which are automatically generated upon joining. If enough vibe checkers vote in favor of verifying a new member, they are automatically verified and receive a welcome notification.
With Vibe Checks implemented, we're now able to safely share invite links to the website far outside our Discord server. Whether you're a longtime community member or a newcomer looking to contribute, we welcome you to join us in this early round of testing and QA.

Hi, I love the idea! I would like to test the app with my community, and I was interested in knowing whether alternative voting systems, such as Ranked Choice Voting, are supported or planned.
That's great to hear and thanks for the kind words! So far we've added support for the following decision making models:
Model of consensus
Consent decision making
Simple majority vote
The features currently supported are mainly focused around proposals for planning events, updating group settings, or changing roles and permissions with the models listed above. However, adding RCV is definitely on the roadmap, and we can likely expedite that if there's already a potential use for it.
One of the main goals of the project is ensuring that communities have enough options available to meet their specific needs, so you can expect to see RCV and more coming soon.

I would love to know more about this project! Could you tell me more about the motivation behind it? Who's part of this team? Where's the funding coming from?
The goal is to build software that enables working and marginalized people to organize more effectively for their collective interests. In the same way that the ruling class has used software to advance their interests, we can also do the same for ours but on a much larger scale.
Various tools for collaborative decision making already exist. What Praxis aims to do is to make it much more fun and accessible, showcasing the diverse decision-making models facilitated by software on a scale not possible until very recently.
In order to get more people involved, the overall design of the platform will be a mix between Mastodon and Discord. Users will be able to take advantage of features and functionality they’re already familiar with from other platforms as they immerse themselves in a given community and see how they’re able to do far more than share and consume content.
Praxis will provide people with the means to organize their communities and the world around them, while also enabling them to shape the platform itself. For example, along with proposals to plan events, you can also propose changes to roles and settings, like who gets to be mod or admin, or whether to use consensus over another model.
With regard to the team, we’ve had a small handful of developers, designers, and testers contribute over the years as they come and go. If you’d like to meet us and get to know the team better, you can find us all on Discord.
We’re not receiving any outside funding right now and are paying for all expenses ourselves. In the future we might consider using something like Open Collective as the project grows.

Since our last release, we've introduced several significant updates, with one of the key enhancements being proposals to change group settings. This enables group members to collectively shape the group's overall functionality and tailor it to better suit their needs and preferences as the group evolves over time.
In addition to the ability to propose changes, we've introduced the following group settings:
Decision Making Model - You can now choose from consensus or consent decision-making to determine how decisions are made in the group
Admin Model - Choose from No Admin or Standard to determine how the group is managed. No Admin ensures all changes are made through proposals, while Standard allows for customizable admin roles
Ratification Threshold - Set the minimum amount of positive votes required for a proposal to be ratified under consensus
Voting Time Limit - Set a time limit for how long proposals can be voted on before they're closed or ratified. This can be set with a dropdown or a date picker
Stand Asides and Reservations Limit - Set the acceptable number of stand asides or reservations for a proposal to pass
These updates aim to offer greater customization for groups, while also showcasing how software can empower communities to collectively shape the digital spaces they occupy.
For anyone interested in helping to test the new features, feel free to hit us up on here or Discord.
