every time a stranger comes to my inbox and screams at me “HOW CAN YOU LIKE THIS CHARACTER?😡” followed by list of reasons why it’s wrong for me to like said fictional character, god just makes me love that character even more.
and it inspires me to write more fics about said character too 🥰 thanks for the motivation bestie! I love when a stranger thinks they can hide behind anon and tell me what I can and can’t enjoy. more fics about said character is coming your way! 😮‍💨🥂🤭✨✨

one of the things I see the most in any fandom space is pearl clutching people saying how “shocked” they are when it turns out a “problematic” ship or a “problematic” character is loved a lot in said fandom.
the most recent example for me would be from this poll where it asks people to vote which ship they like the most, thousands of fans have voted, and the results happen to show the ship that is — according to these people — most problematic has won. needless to say, hundreds of these “noble people who usually harass real people, who just want to ship their little ship in peace, over fictional characters in the name of being morally superior” are so shocked that such a “harmful and problematic” ship is the one that is most liked within the fandom they’re in.
I mean… I don’t know what to tell you, but just because you’re “loud” and you like to “witch hunt” people who enjoy fictional things that you think is Bad, doesn’t mean the ship or the character you deemed Problematic is actually hated by the majority of the fandom you’re in.
sure, you are allowed to hate these ships and these characters for any reason, but other people are allowed to like them. and surprise surprise, the world doesn’t revolve around you and your mindset that Liking Bad Fictional Things Equals Condoning Bad Things in Real Life.
shocking, I know. but most sane people can actually distinguish the differences between fiction and reality. and that’s why people who like fictional villains aren’t actually serial killer in real life.
fandom is and has always supposed to be a safe and fun space in which anyone can like and enjoy whatever they want. it never is, and it’s never supposed to be a courtroom where someone’s moral compass is judged based on how they enjoy Fictional Things. because the whole point of enjoying a ship or liking a fictional character is that it’s fictitious, it’s not real. no one in real life is getting killed because a hot fictional villain is loved by hundreds and thousands of fans.
I hope you feel better soon though 🤍

all the time, i used to look back at old work and wonder why i couldn't recreate that magic. it was hard for me to consistently write things i loved. i had a period when it seemed i couldn't write anything good and i didn't understand why. it passed. i kept reading things i loved, and i tried to be kind to myself; i did other things, i wrote only when i wanted to, and i didn't pressure myself to finish any of it, and i got better. better and better. like a muscle that needed some rest. for awhile i thought i might never publish anything again, or even finish anything. it felt like it was gone. it came back to me eventually, stronger than ever, many stories bursting to get out, and i found myself with the skill to write them. all my little practices had paid off - but so had the resting.
it's ok. we all have droughts. creation is the work of a lifetime.
this!!! a very important reminder we all needed to hear from time to time. I needed to hear this today. thank you ♡

enemies to lovers prompt where one of them accidentally goes too far and nearly kills the other.
the thing is that they always wanted to hurt them, always wanted to see their archenemy on their knees, bruised and bleeding in front of them.
until they go too far and their archenemy might actually die, and that's when they realize they can't live without that man they hate the most.
— from this fic.

LOVE a grumpy whumpee who's too prideful to admit they need help.
LOVE a grumpy whumpee who kicks their feet and snarl like a feisty cat when they're being shown love & affection and taken care of by caretaker.
LOVE a grumpy whumpee who tries to convince themself and caretaker that they're fine, only for their own injuries to prove them wrong and so they fall right into caretaker's arms — as caretaker catches them — right before they can hit the floor.
bonus if whumpee and caretaker are actually enemies. 🤭
read a fic with this exact prompt here :)

trigger warnings for some of these tags (very understandable if they’re a squick for some), but from my experiences, fics that have all of these tagged hit right in the feels and are *chef’s kiss* masterpieces 🤌🏻😮‍💨

hear me out, that moment when a character, who was known to be invincible and cold blooded, closed their eyes when they realized they were defeated and the killing blow was about to be delivered and kill them for good. after they looked up at their archenemy from where they lay on the floor and realized they had lost. when they closed their eyes when their archenemy pointed their gun at them because, as brave as they thought they were, they couldn’t look.
and when their archenemy pulled the trigger and the gun shot blank because the archenemy never actually wanted to kill them to begin with, they flinched because they expected a bullet to their skull, but the impact never came.
and the second they carefully opened their eyes again, after several seconds of utter silence went by, the fear was so clear in their eyes.
no matter how strong they were, they flinched and were scared.
and they didn’t think their archenemy would spare them after what they did. deep down, they knew they didn’t deserve to live, and they were terrified of death, but at the same time too prideful to beg.
they thought their enemy would kill then. and they were left trembling when their enemy spared their life in the end.
then they realized they were, after all, capable of being scared.
this. right. here. thank you.

Hear me out when I say spontaneous combustion.
and the injuries this could inflict on whumpee.
also I know you probably talk about chemical reactions here, but my first thought reading this was that spontaneous movie where people just randomly explode and that was… such a silly, hilariously bad movie, I’m sorry. love the prompt, hate the film.
anyway, spontaneous combustion and spontaneous human combustion are good in terms of writing prompts. I personally would not recommend that film, but the prompts and their potential are good.
