What’s the one thing they would save in a fire?

A stuffed animal given to him by his middle school teacher who had known of the domestic disputes going on in his household at the time.

What’s their biggest regret?

When younger he partook in the bullying of a young girl, who eventually moved away after she ended up in the hospital from one of the kids’ pranks. They meet once again during the main story of NMS, not realizing who the other person is until later on.

How would they fare in a zombie apocalypse?

Nate would straight up die. They were really into Zombie movies growing up but just doesn’t have the emotional and physical capability to survive long. Would either be left behind due to not being able to keep up or would be used as bait after falling into the group.

Where do they see themselves in five years? Ten?

Would like to eventually get his own place to live. Would like to live near his family. Cannot see life without MC, Isaac, or Mae. Nate doesn’t really know what he wants to do in life. They would be content with any job so long as they had a place to live. Likes his privacy but wouldn’t mind living with someone else. Would like to stay with MC and Isaac forever.

What’s their most useless, weirdest, or least marketable skill?

He can speak fluent piglatin (wanted to be seen as cool as a kid so he learned it to show off, did not work)

What are they like in the bedroom — well-rounded lover or wooden plank?

This guy is as vanilla as one gets. Open to trying whatever his lover likes but gets flustered easily. Whether he’s a virgin or not does not matter because he acts like a stereotypical virgin regardless.

Have they committed a crime before? Which one(s)?

Yes? Technically, but he was a kid so nothing on his record. Just the run of the mill shoplifting and picking fights with other kids. No charges were placed bc like he was 10 or so.

If they were an animal, which one would they be? Which one would they think they’d be?

He gives off the vibes of your everyday affectionate dog. If we’re being specific, perhaps a husky. Dramatic and affectionate. They’re honest and would also probably see themself as a dog.

Do they cheat to win or play by the rules?

Depending on the game it is much more fun to cheat. Specifically, if it’s a card game, he likes to win by playing by the rules. Being able to pull off an insane play through strategy is far more rewarding. However, if it’s a more straightforward game, he may use sleight of hand to gain a bit of extra money here and there to get the advantage.

What do they fantasize about?

Being loved, not necessarily romantically. Very love starved from early childhood and never quite fully fixed his relationship with his parents. They get along with their siblings but not much can replace that parental love that he missed out on.

Who’s the most important person in their life?

Outside of MC, Isaac Fidelle. They grew up together. Technically Nate met and became friends with Mae first, but Isaac became Nate’s best friend after meeting him through his cousin Mae. Isaac is the closest person to Nate (and vice versa). They are soulmates, whether they become romantic or stay as platonic soulmates. Nate will always be there for Isaac, no matter what life throws their way.

What’s their ideal vacation like?

Nate is a bit cheesy but would like to go on a cruise trip. He had never been outside of the country and growing up he found comfort in stories about the sea. While his parents would argue, he’d watch animal planet on the marine life topic. Would honestly be fine with anywhere so long as he’s with people he loves.

What is/was/will be their college major?

They decided to major in Sociology. Due to issues involving CPS when he was a child, he wants to be able to actually help children in the same way he wasn’t helped.

What’s their favorite book genre, if they enjoy reading at all?

Nate is a hopeless romantic at heart. Big lover of romance, specifically the young adult variety. Would unironically read twilight when they were a teen. Also loves fantasy books, specifically the ones that follow the MC through a journey to seek justice or to find a mcguffin to save the world.

How would they describe themselves?

“I’d say I’m pretty down to earth. God it’s hard to describe yourself when you’re put on the spot like this. Others say I’m nice and I’d agree. Sometimes I think I’m too nice but it’s awkward to stand up for myself sometimes. I need to get better at establishing boundaries with others. My therapist says my main issue is that I dislike being disliked by others, so it manifests in people pleasing. Hmm.. I guess I’m extraverted and sociable. I do tend to say or do things before thinking which can be really embarrassing sometimes. Yeah, that’s all I can really think of at the moment sorry.”

How would others describe them?

Nate is seen as kind and sociable by many. He should really give himself more credit for many things. Some people do think he’s gullible and naive but people who are closer to them would argue that they’re only really like that with people he really trusts. One of the things that may put others off from Nate is that he tends to wear his heart on his sleeve. In many cases, it’s harmless. However, Nate lacks a filter sometimes or rather, they don’t think before speaking (an issue they’re aware of). This could lead to him accidently saying something that might hurt other peoples’ feelings without realizing it or without thinking of the outcome. Nate can be overdramatic as well, though much better than when he was a teenager. Overall, a pleasant person to be around but you have to understand him on a deeper level if you really want to be close. If you tolerate them, he’ll tolerate you. If you’re a loved one, Nate would do a lot for you.

What’s the most ridiculous thing they’ve ever spent money on?

Once bought a life-size cut out of Barney the dinosaur to try to scare anyone who walked into his dorm room.

What’s their dream job?

They want to work in CPS. They know the burnout rate for working as a social worker is high, especially when children are involved. He believes he’d be able to handle it and it doesn’t hurt to try.

How’s their financial situation?

Nate is lower/working class. He lives with his father and 2 other sisters. Him and his sisters are barely adults so it’s mainly his father providing money for the household. After his parents officially divorced when he was a young teen, he become your average run of the mill latchkey kid. At first it was rough, and his house had their utilities cut off several times. His dad would argue and beg the landlord sometimes to forgive them for late payments. Their dad would work at the train company by day and work as a gas station employee at night in order to provide for his three kids. As they got older, Nate and their sisters would do odd jobs to help out (shoveling snow, mowing lawns, etc.). Once they were old enough, they’d get actual jobs.

At the moment, Nate and his younger sister are in college and do jobs on campus. His youngest sister just graduated high school but won’t work while in school due to issues with working and going to school messing with her grades.

They received child support from their mother until they reached the age where they were cut off. Occasionally for special days his mother would try to reach out and send his father money for him.

Who’s their go-to person for advice?

Oh big time his dad. His dad is like a wise wizard who has been through a lot of shit in his life. Mr. Nathan Marx Sr. seems to always have an answer, some helpful, and others not so much.

What’s one secret of theirs that could potentially ruin a relationship they have?

The story of when he and several classmates bullied a girl into moving away. It will be brought up as the girl goes to the same college as Nate and the rest. Sometimes, no matter how much you change or when you did a bad thing, consequences catch up. Will it ruin his relationship with others? I can’t say for now.

Are they a dog person or a cat person — or something else?

Nate loves all animals. As stated before, he would be a dog if he were an animal. Their favorite animals are cats and rabbits though. Something about being trusted by a normally standoffish animal makes his heart swell.

What’s one childhood memory they’ve never forgotten?

The day they lost their tooth. He got in a fight with a kid who went to far and started bullying his little sister. It was an older kid, he was about 10ish when it happened and the kid was 13. Nate knocked the kid down, and kept punching (he was more wild back then due to the fighting in the house and with barely anyone to lean on). When he turned his back to take his sister back home the kid pushed him from behind and he fell face to the concrete. His tooth got pushed into his gums and it got infected so he had to get them pulled. Unfortunately, the new one that grew in (his adult one) got stuck under the gums and infected too, so he had to get it extracted as well. After that no more teeth grew in. His family didn't have the money to afford an implant but he grew to like the tooth gap over time. It was a show of his love.

Do they have any phobias?

Not really a phobia but scared of flying bugs. Not to the point of a phobia though.

What’s one thing they’re utterly incapable of doing without the help of someone else?

Absolute dog shite at painting his nails or anything pertaining to grooming himself. Still sometimes needs help with washing his hair, especially with drying it.

What’s one topic they could never get tired of researching or learning about?

Loves talking about marine biology and astronomy. Something about talking about places humans have barely explored gets him going. Space and the deep depths of the ocean. Also likes looking into flower symbolism.

What’s their favorite genre of music?

They enjoy a variety of music but especially loves Spanish music because that’s the music he grew up on. Loves pop music.

Who, if anyone, do they dislike most?

Has beef with virtually no one except “Andrew” due to “Andrew” feeling very fake in their interactions. Has a bad feeling about MC getting too close to “Andrew”

If they could change one thing about themselves, physical or otherwise, what would it be?

Honestly, he’s pretty happy with himself at the moment. Maybe he’d like if his ears were a tad bit smaller and his jaw a bit less round? Kinda wished his eyes were naturally pink like the contacts he wears.

What’s their political stance?

Grew up in an apolitical household, not on purpose but because they were always arguing. Pretty left, wouldn’t really call himself a liberal or conservative. Very left, maybe socialist is a better term? Doesn’t necessarily go by any label, just votes for what he believes is the best option for the people.

Are they religious?

Somewhat. A lot of hispanic households follow specific religions but again, due to the fighting in their household, they never really were outright taught about their religion. Sometimes prays before going to bed. Does believe there may be a higher being. Still not 100% for or against.

What were they like in high school?

Oh god, the drama. Very much an attention whore. Wanted everyone to like him and would do anything to make them like him (within limits). Huge flirt but would immediately get embarrassed for being so cheesy right afterwards. Attached to Isaac and MC by the waist.

What’s the worst injury they’ve ever had?

Permanently has a tooth gap after getting into a severe fight when they were about 10. His upper front tooth got knocked inwards and when his adult tooth to replace it started to grow in, it got impacted and ended up infected. Almost got sepsis from the experience and had to get the tooth removed.

Do they work to live or live to work?

Nate at this point lives to work. He wants to help others and feels good doing so. He will learn. He definitely will learn (an: Social work is very draining, especially CPS. I worked for APS and it was still draining, just less so.)

Do/did they want children?

Nate doesn’t necessarily want kids but would be open to having them. He basically raised his younger siblings since his dad worked day and night. Nate would likely make a great dad.

What’s their favorite thing about themselves?

It took a while, but he came to really love his tooth gap. He feels it’s important to him as a person and definitely played a part in how they ended up. Also really loves the way his face is arranged?? Like loves the shape of his eyes, his somewhat big nose, just feels it is aesthetically pleasing the way his face looks.

What’s their favorite thing about their significant other, if they have one?

I like to imagine if Nate never gets with MC within the game that he’d end up with Isaac. This can be seen in game with some of their moments feeling somewhat like how a couple would act. Nate loves how Isaac is blunt with him. Nate has never been worried about how Isaac feels about him and always trusts Isaac’s judgement of him due to how blunt he is. Finds it cute that Isaac has a sweet tooth. It’s very Moe gap to him as Isaac is naturally cooler and more collected but brightens when around sweets.

If they hear something go bump in the night, do they get out of bed to check it out or do they stay put?

Depending on where they are in REM sleep, he’d either resign to his fate and go back to dreamland or would wake with a start and possibly check out the noise (After texting someone).

What’s one skill they wish they had?

Wish he could do his own hair. Doing hair is a pain in the ass and since they like their hair somewhat long, not knowing how to do it is pain. Does not want to shave his head, has his sister (or his dad, Isaac, or MC) help him with his hair usually.

What do other people find annoying about them, if anything?

He can be too much as a person sometimes. May come off as manic.

What do other people love most about them?

Nate is one of the most loyal people in the world. Many people trust him and knows if they needed help, they could turn to Nate. This has kind of given Nate the therapist role in friend groups.

What’s the typical first impression after meeting this person?

“He seemed pretty chill. It seems like he was holding back though, like he wanted to talk more?”

What do people notice first about them, as far as their appearance goes?

His bright hot pink contacts. Dramatic ass always wears them. At first it was mainly for attention back in high school, but genuinely likes the way they look on him now.

Does this person try their best to be honest or are they not above lying to get their way?

Nate is honest to a fault, only really lying when it’s highly needed or to prevent damage. Doesn’t necessarily lie moreso omits the truth or tells half-truths.

What kind of movies do they like?

Doesn’t watch movies often. Likes documentaries and the occasional cartoon movie.

Are they the life of the party or a wallflower?

70% life of the party. Very sociable but also somewhat socially awkward.

Are they an early bird or a night owl?

Early bird for sure. Nate likes to wake up at 5:30 in the morning so that he has the time to relax before heading to classes. Doesn’t get out of bed until an hour before class though.

Are they a good kisser?

The worst kisser. Has never kissed anyone before except once as a dare but it was only lips, and he was a teenager at the time. You will have to teach him how to kiss, or you could learn together if you’re also inexperienced.

Do they think about what they wear or do they throw on whatever they find first?

Nate may have gotten over his attention whore phase but he still likes to look as good as possible. They’re the type to lay out their clothes the night before. Even when dressing down, he does it in a way that still works and doesn’t look messy.

Do they have any insecurities?

Most of his insecurities stem from his view of himself. Finds themself annoying sometimes. Wonders why people put up with them sometimes.

What is their favorite thing about themselves?

Can’t really think of a favorite thing (he has low self-esteem). Would likely quote something someone else said about him.

What’s their diet like?

Eats whatever he wants really. Doesn’t really follow any regimen. Eats most foods, tends to eat lots of meat, grains, and vegetables. Likes fruit but doesn’t go out of his way except for specific fruits. Is lactose-intolerant (very mild almost nonexistent, just stomachache sometimes.)

If they could only eat one thing for the rest of their life, what would it be?

Bananas. Just really loves the taste and the texture. The only issue they can think of is how they would have to keep their fridge and freezer filled to the brim with bananas.

What’s their body count, if they have one?

Canonical virgin, sound the alarms. Never really got close with anyone like that. Was more focused on his friends than any potential romance or sexual relationship. Tried dating once, got scared when she overstepped boundaries, did not try again. Only really has felt true attraction towards close friends but would never speak on those feelings unless they did first. Body count is currently 0.

Who do they look up to most?

Due to seeing how his dad handled being a single father of 3 firsthand, he’d have to give it to his dad. Truly his role model and tries to live up to his expectations (which tbf is just to live happily, get a degree, and get a stable job. Could be in any field, just wants what’s best for his kids).

What do they smell like?

Natural scent is a subtle musk. He wears cologne usually, so the scent varies but the most common scents he uses are vanilla and sandalwood.

How do they feel about drugs?

Not his cup of tea but doesn’t judge depending on the drug. Has stoner friends. Just no hard drugs like meth or heroine.

If they could change one thing about their life, what would it be?

Feels that his life at the moment is more than they had ever dreamt of and would not change a thing for fear they would end up in a worse life.

What motivates them?

Knowing that one day, he will be truly happy surrounded by loved ones.

What are some of their simple pleasures?

Likes playing video games (a big mobile game player, downloads those random games you get advertised for just to have a mindless game to play), sometimes plays his guitar or mini drums. Does not know how to read sheet music so he barely plays non percussion instruments. Indulges in reading or watching nature documentaries.
