Frankly I think Alistair being mildly shitty to that mage in Ostagar seems pretty in-character for the guy he is before the massive, life-altering trauma that is the Ostagar massacre wherein he sees all of his Grey Warden comrades, his beloved mentor/father figure, and his beloathed half-brother/convenient-target-of-projection absolutely torn to shreds by literal Thedas boogeymen. IIRC Morrigan and Flemeth both comment on his wack behavior after Ostagar and then by the time we get to Lothering Alistair just fully surrenders any and all responsibility (and, frankly, agency) to the player's Warden for the foreseeable future. It can then take anywhere from a couple IRL hours to the entire second act of the game for him to retake almost any amount of it back. And depending on the player's choices in dialogue, and especially whether or not they choose to romance him, we may only see flashes of that guy we met at Ostagar before he potentially morphs into almost someone else entirely (hardened!King!Alistair). All that to say, I don't actually think it's a useful criticism of "characterization" to bring up Alistair's glibness as compared to his behavior in the majority of the game because from where I'm standing (looking directly at his snottiness about Cailan, his complaints about being assigned to the Tower of Ishal, his Templar-esque focusing on Morrigan and Flemeth being apostates, his generally pretty brusque manner with the Warden recruits) it seems fairly in-line with the rest of his behavior at Ostagar.

i am once again thinking of a good omens wicked au, but this time instead of the obvious crowley as elphaba and aziraphale and glinda, im thinking of the OPPOSITE.

im thinking of how AZIRAPHALE fits elphaba's character in that he is an outsider amongst his peers and he's a little bit awkward and he's got so much faith in the almighty/the wizard. he's got "parents" (read: god) who expect so much from him and siblings who are ashamed of him. and he's got dreams! he wants to do big things! he wants to work hand in hand with and make the almighty/the wizard proud!

and im thinking about how CROWLEY fits glindas character in the sense that he's suave and charming and people are drawn to him. he knows how to talk to them and how to get them to do what he wants, and he's the one that teaches aziraphale things about the world (a la popular, like tempting aziraphale into eating meat and drinking wine and all these very human things he never would have thought to do without crowleys influence).

im thinking of how the two of them start out absolutely loathing each other, as mortal enemies, one could say... but how over time and as they bond more and more, as they see different sides of one another, that loathing turns into something else. something just as strong, just as passionate, but softer. gentler. sweeter. it turns into love.

and of course everything gets shattered when upon meeting his idol, aziraphale learns that god isn't what he thought she was. it turns out god is just a pipe dream. all there is is a floating head, the metatron, posing as god. and not at all the great and powerful entity aziraphale believed. and the metatron CANT help aziraphale, can't fix him. and thus the downfall of aziraphale begins.

I feel like Ghost & Roach are definitely a playfully competitive duo, like I constantly think about how Roach surpassed Ghost by a decent amount of points when it came to the marksmanship test, and I bet he rubs it in Ghost's face all the time lmao

But obv Ghost just counters that he beat Roach's physical fitness score by three points and that immediately shuts him up dhjwjdjke

I feel like people are grossly misunderstanding the pop genre when they slap the term in front of any other genre as if 'pop' was only a modifier meaning 'less than' (even unintentionally).

Pop-rock doesn't just mean popular rock music, it's also a specific sound. Like, Måneskin is pop-rock, and they do it well, there's nothing lesser about it, but also My Chemical Romance is far from pop-rock, I'm going to get shit for this, but, it's too heavy. The lyrics are too dark and elaborate, the guitar is too loud and melodic. It's just rock. Normal rock.

I know it's nitpicky on my part, but why are we even dividing music into genres if we don't even use the terms properly. It leads to some 'hollier than tho' behaviour when people call anything that isn't absolutely the heaviest, noisiest, least coherent type of music 'pop' while others came up with ways of 'elevating' the 'lesser' 'pop' sound by slapping 'punk' (as an epitome of true heavy sophisticated music for some ungodly reason) on it.

It's doing a disservice to pop, punk and other genres alike. Why aren't we allowed to just say rock anymore? Why did 'rock' start to be regarded as a monolith and something boring?

And at the end of the day, labels are labels, you can call anything any way you like, I'm not your dad, but it's my personal pet peeve.
