i know the main reason hermits take a break between seasons to spend time with their families during the holidays... though i can't help but convince myself it's more than that.

as winter comes, the days dim and the nights stretch, the light fades and all is quiet. all of us, whether creators or followers, just need a silent moment away from the hustle and bustle of it all.

first looking back at what was.

after a season's end, a mourning period is all but necessary. it's almost.. merciful. a gift.

mourning. grieving. recounting memories. taking time in isolation. it's so incredibly human.

then, when we're ready, when they are ready, looking ahead at what's to come.

celebrating. speculating. encouraging. preparations. whispers of plans and preparations. as finally the light returns to us, so do they, so does that warm hearth of friendship and community, camaraderie, a bond so well known but not understood, something felt not seen, something that appeals to the very core of our human nature.

though we all are overjoyed at new beginnings, we must first take our time to mourn. and when the time is right, we will all arise and celebrate together.

man, i'm getting sentimental now. no big moon to end it all suddenly; no slow death either, exactly. it's not a surprise, sure, and it was planned, and it's not sudden, but it's still--an ending. and soon, with the new not-quite-blank-slate of season ten, a new world and a blank slate in every way but the memories carried from the past, we'll have more good new hermitcraft. the best hermitcraft, really (i love early season hermitcraft). we'll have new groups to be fans of and builds to love and lore to make. we'll have new storylines and new skins and new energy. it is for the best; i remind myself that i had actively been hoping they'd reset the season this month for that reason.

and yet.

there's no big moon to end it all suddenly; no slow death either, exactly. but it's an ending.

Your silhouette appears, seated at your desk.   Bachira walks up behind you, smiling when he realizes your headphones are blocking out all sound.   He props the box on his left arm and gently pulls your headphones back, freeing your ears.

"Surpriiiiiiise!"   "Bachi!"   "I called you, but you didn’t hear me, so I let myself in. What are you up to?" "I’m listening to a new album that just came out, it’s pop, you might like it."   "Probably! Hey, I need to ask you something."   "What?"   "I was on my way back, and right after the bakery, I found this."

He places the box in front of you.   Intrigued, you spin your chair around and open the box, revealing three little furballs.

"Oh no… Kittens…!"   "I looked for their mom, but they were all alone, and it was really hot outside. I didn’t know what to do, but I know you like taking care of them."   "We need to call the vet. Can you get a towel? We’ll find them a cozy spot in my brother’s room."

He wasn’t home for the weekend, and until a more permanent solution could be found for the little ones, his room would become a refuge for the three little angels.

"Don’t worry, I got it. You think they’re hungry?"   "Hard to say, but they don’t look too skinny. Alright, I’m heading downstairs; I’ll be right back."

Their abandonment is probably very recent. Did you check if they were hurt?"   "The two seem fine, but I’m not sure about the one that’s sleeping. We’ll need to check the other side of its body. Did you call the vet?"   "No, I’m about to. Can you keep an eye on them for me?"   "Got it."

so its a video game where youre either aether or lumine, twins who were separated by an unknown god when they traveled to a new world. you meet paimon, a floating fairy whos your best friend and travel guide. you travel from nation to nation, gaining the elemental powers of that nations god.

you help each nation solve their crisis and save their people, in return for information about your lost twin (spoiler alert theyre really unhelpful)

along the way, you can get other characters to join your team. they have visions, which means the gods chose them to have a specific elemental power. there are seven elements, except for some reason dendro didnt come out til last year??

my favorite character is kaveh!! hes an architect whos struggling with money, and who lives with his frenemy alhaitham. he and haitham were best friends in college, but had a falling out and didnt speak for years.

theyve lived together for a while, and while they make each other super angry, they take care of each other. alhaitham says kaveh is pathetic, yet keeps paying his bills and complimenting his character. kaveh says alhaitham is impossible to be around, but refuses offers to move out and is always thinking of alhaitham. their entire existence is to be the opposite of each other: kaveh is loud and proud and emotional, alhaitham is humble and stoic and quiet. if you invert images of them, you see that they have the exact opposite color palette. almost every voice line about them mentions the other one. even their voice actors ship them (they said if their characters were musical songs theyd be gay or european and if you were gay, they had to re-record their first scene because they were told they made them too implied to be a couple)

Dawn's Embrace

As the sun rose, you could feel the gentle touch of Lathander’s grace upon your face. The tieflings had all set off for Moonrise Towers as your party slept by the dim flickering campfire. You gazed upon Gale’s peaceful face, admiring his relaxed expression that graced his features as he slept. You began to wonder what he might be dreaming about, if anything at all. 

Glancing around at your companions, you ensured they were still asleep before laying back down on your bedroll, making sure to face Gale. Before you were able to weigh the ethics of what you were about to do, you whispered a short incantation and entered Gale’s mind. It took a moment to adjust to the image that replaced the campfire; a tower by the sea, enveloped in the scent of old tomes, fresh bread, and flickering candles.

There, amidst the comforting embrace of literature and magic, you found an unexpected scene. Gale lay behind you, a book resting in his hand, his other nestled over the midsection of your dream-self. As he spoke softly to your dream counterpart, a golden light emanated from her fingertips: a mending spell. Though a torn page had just been fixed before him, his attention seemed not fixated on the book, but on your dream self. She caught his eye and gently brought a hand up to cup his cheek before kissing him. He immediately set the book down on the table next to him and gave her his full attention, allowing her just enough room to fully turn and straddle his waist and deepen the kiss.

I think Ashe probably fell in love first (maybe in part due to the fact that he just isn’t really used to being close with people) but they were definitely very shy about it. Ashe is definitely the type of person to be like “I’m not going to talk about it unless he does” but

Dakota is probably oblivious to his feelings for a while. I don’t think Dakota has a solid grasp on which emotions he’s feeling 90% of the time (I’m not projecting wdym) and so he probably had like a brief moment of “wait do I like Ashe or just really wanna be his friend?” And he just shrugged and thought it was the friend thing until all of the sudden something clicks and he goes “OH SHI-“. Dakota is also absolutely the type to fall REALLY hard and fast as soon as he realizes. So to me, demonkicks is very much the “_ falls first, _ falls harder” thing

They introduced each other to a lot of new music and sometimes they just sit together in Ashes room and listen to music. They don’t really need to be talking or anything, they just like hanging out in each other’s presence. It’s calming for Dakota, and it makes Ashe feel important (and those things are exactly what the two of them need). I think maybe sometimes Ashe plays video games while Dakota just lays on the bed and fiddles with something or pets the dog. (He’d join the game, but then he’d get super competitive about it and loud and high energy and Ashe would get tired bc of it so Dakota is content to just chill)

When they DO play videos games it goes one of two ways: most often, Ashe feeds off Dakota’s energy and they both get fairly competitive (Ashe less so) and it’s a very high energy time (and then when they’re done, Ashe crashes hard bc he’s not used to that much energy) OR Dakota’s energy ends up making Ashe feel tired and so it’s less fun but definitely a lot more calm and Ashe ends up letting Dakota win 80% of the time bc she just likes seeing him excited. Regardless of which way it goes, they cuddle after and you can rip that from my cold dead hands

Ashe is the one to initiates affection, but only bc she is TOUCH STARVED but they’re shy about it too. So he’ll come up and like- face plants into Dakota’s shoulder and it makes him go “oh yeah, physical affection” bc he forgets thats a thing half the time (again, I’m not projecting idk what you mean).

!!!!!! okay so this one im gonna do less evidence baded more interpretation bc like i think this is something that will be explored more Later so like obviously idk for sure . but from what i understand of how they talk about it it seems like yvonne and jedidiah first came to be friends probably through a good deal of effort on yvonnes part since jeddie obviously was scared of them in the beginning i doubt he was the one initiating the friendship . and i think it seems like they spent a lot of time together since yvonne references trying to bring jedidiah to parties a lot, and i also think it was usually just the two of them since joshua asks if he knows this story (implying theres at least Some yvonne and jeddie stories he doesnt know), yvonne doesnt seem at all as close to sydney as they do to jedidiah, and they dont really seem to have other mutual friends thatr referenced . i think they used to just hang out and play video games and joke around a lot - they strike me as the kind of friends who spend tons of time together and consider each other best friends but dont really emotionally open up to each other that often, just bc both of them seem to struggle with talking about their feelings at times (except w joshua on yvonnes end) and yvonne doesnt seem to know abt how jeddies relationship to sydney reallt works. but i do think jedidiah opens up to yvonne more than most ppl!! theres a bit of evidence for this (yvonne refers to jeddie as not having been Openly stressed out in ages which implies hes been stressed out before in private) and i also just think it makes sense given how willing jeddie is to open up to yvonne. and even if they dont open up as much they still get along well and enjoy each others company!! i think yvonne also helped jedidiah open up somewhat - definitely not Fully obviously but i think they were a large part of jedidiah growing less sheltered, trying new things and generally becoming less of the EXTREMELY sheltered college jeddie thats scared of dyed hair. i think yvonne was a good influence on him, yk? pushed him out of his comfort zone in a way that sydney isnt always able to do necessarily due to the weirdness of their dynamic, sydneys pushes of jeddie to get out of his comfort zone tend to go too far and make jeddie uncomfortable whereas yvonnes seem to do more to be helpful - say what u will abt the skyrim dance scene but he definitely did loosen up and have fun lol

when sydney was comatose is trickier so thisll be more fuzzy since that whole timeline confuses me but based off of what yvonnes said about jedidiahs last year of college . my basic interpretation of yvonne and jedidiahs friendship at that time is that i think jedidiah began to start falling apart at the seams a little bit and began pushing people away and avoiding people and yvonne just sort of backed off a little because they werent totally sure what to do or say . yvonne references wanting to do a better job of helping jedidiah sooner than they did back then and yvonne seems to struggle with communicating with people sometimes - i think they didnt know what to say to jedidiah or how to help, and eventually things got so bad that there was nothing To do to help at all bc things just wouldnt get through to him even if you tried your best to help . i think yvonne and jedidiah largely get along due to their difficulty with emotional expression but i also think that became a major Flaw in their relationship as things went bad becaus i think jeddie couldnt ask for help an dyvonne couldnt bridge the gap

I just finished my first day of exams and so, I will today ( and it's been a while) write some kidge and answere some messages!!

Ok, so as some thing quick to write rn, I was thinking of their first unofficial and official date! so let's go ahead! :

The first date they had was unnoficial and Keith asked her out.

He was coming back to earth from a mission with the blades and the first person he wanted to see was Pidge, of course.

He has been thinking a lot lately, since the Atlas, the both had been very close and he can't help but constantly think of her. And, when he told his mother about his thoughts, it made him realise that he maybe wanted more with her. It still wasn't sure yet, so he decided to take the first step and try something. That way, he could see if he had a chance. After all, he hadn't talked to her a lot lately. He used to call her often but the blade was taking him too much time since a few month.

Now, there he was, his phone in one hand, thinking of how he should start a conversation. he wasn't going to call her because he didn't even knew how to ask, I needed some time to think of it compleatly and a call was too direct. He had never asked a girl out before. Never. let's say that when he was younger, he never experimented those types of feelings, it felt so new and so strange.

After some long minutes of over thinking, he finaly typed something: "Hi".

(Yea, he took more 10 minutes to type "Hi" but don't blame him! He thought about starting by "hello" but thought it was too formal. Then he wanted to put an emoji to make the mesage seem a little more nice looking and friendly but immediatly thought that it was a little too much because it didn't seemed like him, he rarely used emojis. Actually, he generaly didn't. He was bad to show emotions in messages so yup, Keith is one of these people that seem very cold in messages but is a total sweeet heart in real life. Keith couldn't believe it. It was PERFECT. He started to type back immediately.

They kept talking for a moment and then, a week later, Keith headed to her apartment.

He knocked at her door, and, after a few ticks, she oppened.

"Keith!"

She giggled and jumped in his amrs to hold him lightly.

"I really missed you!" she said with her head burried in his chest.

He warped his amrs aroud her, carressing her back and nuzzling his chin in her haires.

"I missed you too, shorty"

She gave him a soft laugh before to let him come in.

He had brought snacks and he letted them on the table that was in front of the couch where they both settled. They talked for a little moment, catching up on the last few month that had passsed. After almost an hour, they took blankets and started a movie. At the beginning of it, they were pretty far away from each other but as it went by, they both got closer and curled up under the covers. He was playing in her haires wich she really enjoyed. The night passed and they shared caresses and a warm ambraces in front of a nice movie and Keith's heart felt so warm. All he wanted to do was to cuddle her and to never let go.

The movie ended and he looked down at her; She fell asleep on his shoulder. And gosh. It was the most adorable thing he had ever seen. He couldn't help but let a kiss in her forehead. He then setteled her in his arms and slowly layed down, letting her in the top of him, on his chest. He smiled. it felt amazingly perfect.

He held her tight and fell asleep with an amazing feeling in his heart. He knew now that he wanted to end his life with her and that he'd do anything-

for the love of his life.

If it’s not too much trouble, could I request a matchup for TWST? Some things about me are that I’m a Libra, over 18, and an INFJ. I usually try to be nice to people, but sometimes I can be very blunt to the point it comes off the wrong way. Im smart academically but not much when it comes to social cues/people feelings. I have a hard time empathizing with others and sometimes it can get to the point I act selfishly. I also have an out-of-pocket/dark sense of humor, but I always try not to cross a line (even if that fails sometimes). For my hobbies I usually like reading, watching movies/shows, and playing video games. My favorite genres in anything are romance, horror, and psychological thrillers. Probably one of the reasons I love yanderes is because I love the idea of someone being so in love with you to the point it becomes obsession. Rook doesn't mind the ugly side of you, in fact it makes him interested. If you were hiding it, which you might be he'll do everything he can to uncover it but only for his viewing pleasure. He is very devoted I mean have you seen how he acts with Vil? Overall, Rook is also another terrifying yandere but again I think you can tolerate him! As far as Obey me, I think Asmodeus is a perfect match. He is slightly similar to Cater, but also slightly different. He's the sin of Lust but Lust can also refer to other things. While Lust can be seen as a strong sexual desire for someone it can also be used as a strong desire. In the game he's flirty and enjoys partying, opening up his social circle, and using social media. Always documenting the perfect moments online, but who knows if that's the truth behind the screen. I can see Asmodeus being devoted to his S/O, always cherishing them and making them feel superior. He loves them and absolutely adores the idea of spoiling them but seeing as how you're not afraid to show who you really are, Asmodeus would also enjoy that. Asmo also has the upper hand in social interactions, usually getting them to favor him or directing the conversation elsewhere. He has the ability to charm others but it doesn't work on the MC, which I like because that means if we want to love Amso, we do that on our own free will. I like to believe he can be very devoted and borderline masochistic/sadistic, he could grovel and beg for attention or he could put you in your place. You're so used to seeing Asmo as some peppy and kind person, but I feel like he can actually be masking some dark persona behind that.

As the runner-up, I was tempted to give you Solomon because he also has a close relationship with Asmo and I like to headcanon him as two-faced but Barbatos would take the cake! Barbatos is Diavolos's butler and while he does obey him, he doesn't shy away from scolding him as he's technically supposed to be a mentor watching over him. Barbatos is always seen as very formal and either I've skipped events or haven't gotten that far but while he recognizes emotion, he has a hard time empathizing like you. I think he feels most comfortable in that power dynamic where he does his job and moves on, he can show a mask of emotions but other than that he's hollow. Maybe he does want to be able to feel sympathy and relate to others, but as of now he probably does not. He's classy and fits the criteria of what you want/need. He's devoted to his S/O, he would bow down to you if you so like but he can also put you in your place if you act out. I have darker Barbatos headcanons that I did post but didn't seem to get much attention but I truly think he's hiding a secret agenda which also ties in with everyone having two different sides. After feeling comfortable with you he won't shy away from his true self and who knows, you may or may not enjoy it. It's funny that you enjoy psychological thrillers or psychology in general because this man will manipulative, gaslight, and condition you all at once.

What was the effect of Dungeons & Dragons on society?

            When people think about the table-top game Dungeons & Dragons, many things might come to mind. Some may think about their favorite D&D podcast or recorded campaigns, while others may just imagine it as that nerdy game from Stranger Things. Either way, Dungeons & Dragons has become a topic of the public’s interest over the years. The game is renowned for its ability to bring people together through the process of world building and imagination. According to Denis Storey from Psychiatrist.Com, “The game’s collaborative and creative nature fosters a sense of control and emotional connection, helping players deal with real-life feelings of powerlessness” (par. 1). The platform of the game gives a reason for people to meet, and keep meeting, for hours on end and bond over their collaborative stories. That kind of human connection over shared creativity is difficult to emulate elsewhere.

            Although D&D started as a niche hobby, confined to people’s basements, it gradually started to take off in the table-top community. “Within its first decade, D&D sales soared to more than $16 million a year” (Smithsonian Magazine, par. 5). The game was spreading through game tables and comic stores with a cult-like following. This year marked the 50th anniversary of the game and has acquired around 12 variants, with more likely on the way. With all this success, Dungeons & Dragons went on to breach the medium of paper and pencil, inspiring many different forms of media.

For most, the fact that it got its own movie alone would be enough to solidify its standing in the public consciousness, but its reach extends far past that. The “Baldur’s Gate” series is a video game franchise based on the lore of the most common setting of D&D, the “Forgotten Realms”. In the past few years, the franchise has gone on to partner with Wizards of the Coast and Hasbro (the owners of the Dungeons & Dragons domain) and create their third installment, a game aptly titled “Baldur’s Gate 3”. This game uses most of the mechanics of 5th edition D&D and follows the lore of the forgotten realms and expands on it in a way that rivals the game itself, with hundreds of different story paths and unique options. All of this to say, this game is highly derived from Dungeons & Dragons, which makes it even more influential that in 2023, “Baldur’s Gate 3” was the first to be named Game of the Year in all five major video game award shows. Step 4: Reflection

I realized far too late that my writing about the video game Baldur’s Gate 3 was getting far longer than my first paragraph, so I had to split the second paragraph in two (I really like that game). I also really like Dungeons & Dragons and feel that translated very transparently in my writing. The language I used was formal enough to be recognizable as an intellectual source, while still being familiar enough to be welcoming to my target audience (people who like video/table-top games and want to know more about them). I apologize profusely if the paragraphs are longwinded and all-over-the-place, this topic is extremely interesting to me and is very close to my heart. :D
