Photographer: Wiliam Aiken Year: 2020 City: Cleveland, Ohio
This is a picture I found on my timeline on Instagram. I thought that it was visually stunning. The background is completely one tone, which conveys unity amongst the scene. But to add flare, the subject is wearing dark colours. This heavily contrasts with the background, making him the sole focus of the image. When I saw this while I was scrolling, I was taken aback at how vivid the image it was.

Title: Cohesiveness   Photographer: Zuhair Aqeel Year: 2020 City: Toronto, Ontario
I took this photo at home for my photography class. The background blue matches my colour scheme, and the shade of the pale is a more concentrated hue than the background. This creates a sense of unity, that is accented by the steel rings on the pale. This was a difficult shot to create because every time i took a picture, it didn’t show the true colour of the wall.

Title: Happy Radioactivity Photographer: Zuhair Aqeel Year: 2020 City: Toronto, Ontario
I took this picture during my photography class. I like how the rest of the board is boring, neutral tones; and the word “radioactive” is in the brightest blue possible. The sign is also studded silver thumbtacks, which adds to the brightness of the lettering. I like how the word “radioactive” pops off of the board, which gives it more important than everything else on the board.

Title: blue machine in a sea of brown Photographer: Zuhair Aqeel Year: 2020 City: Toronto, Ontario
I took this photograph during my photography class. I liked the colour of the machine; I liked how it had some dust and rust on it. The dust and rust convey age and the passage of time, which I thought was a cool concept to have in a photograph. The surrounding colours are primarily brown and neutral tones; this causes the machine to stand out like a sore thumb in this picture. The metallic accents on the machine add shine to the image.

Title: Baby Blue Huracán Spyder
Photographer: Kev Cook
Year: 2016
City: Davie, Florida
This is a beautiful photo of a beautiful car. The black rims and accents on the seats stand in stark contrast against the blue. The saturation of blue is very low, so the blue is very light. The red in the background makes the photo look vibrant. This is an excellent photo.

Title: Seafoam Doorway
Photographer: Melissa O'Donohue
Year: 2014
City: Beacon, New York
This photo shows a seafoam green doorway, surrounded by rock. The green doorway pops out from the rest of the background, as everything else is a dull brown/grey colour. The green doorway makes the photo vibrant, but it isn’t extremely bright. The balance creates a pleasing image.

The blanket the baby is wrapped in and the background are both shades of blues; however, since the blanket is a much lighter shade in comparison to the background, it creates a pleasing contrast. The emphasis is placed on the baby’s head, which I believe was intentional. The baby is in the middle of the frame, creating a lot of negative space around it. The middle of the frame is where the eyes naturally go, so it helps to emphasize the baby.

Photographer: Amanda Nicole
Year: 2016
Country: United States of America
I like this photo because I like how the saturation of the subject's dress is lower compared to the previous picture I posted. The shape of the dress creates a sense of movement, as though the dress was flowing. The emphasis is placed on the dress/lady wearing the dress; this created by starkly contrasting the colour of the dress against the rest of the background. The subjects are placed in the middle of the frame.

Photographer’s Name: Marques Keith Brownlee Year: 2019 City: New Jersey, New York
I chose this photo because I like the contrast of the bright red and grey in the background; it makes the phone appear bold in the frame. The combination of the 3 colours, plus the black accents on the phone, makes the image very vibrant. The photographer also used lines to separate the red and grey, making the image feel angular, but the soft curves of the phone even out the angular feeling with a feeling of fluidity.
