Who am I?
Hello, Tumblr! I thought I should make a proper introduction post, since I'm planning to reside mostly on this little webbed site. So, the basics:
Who am I? My name is Z. T. Mandel, and I'm a writer! This is my official Tumblr. What are my pronouns? You can use ze/zir for me. If you're new to neopronouns, or to the English language, and are wondering what the proper declension of these pronouns are, please see this page. What have you written? My short story, 'Our Bleak Midwinter', was published in the Coloth anthology 'The Book of the Snowstorm' by Arcbeatle Press in 2023, and I manage the series 'Zadellin' over on The Cheshire House. These are under the name 'Theta Mandel'. But over here, on my own site, I write various things under the name 'Z. T. Mandel'. At the moment I'm mainly releasing all my little silly existential flash fiction, but also have longer stories in the works - including both short stories and novels - which I hope to be able to talk more about soon. Why is your stie called '3 A.M. writings? I come up with a lot of my ideas late at night, when I'm alone with only the dark for company. I want to hear about your new stuff when it comes out - how do I do that? I have a substack that I will talk about new projects on! Once my site is up and running, I will also be writing a monthly newsletter through that. I'm not on here much - do you have any other socials? Yes! Ihave an instagram, facebook, and even a LinkedIn. I want to talk to you. Where do I do that? Please do not message me on any of my socials - I don't check the messages. Instead, please send me a message on my site's contact form.

I think maybe writers do what they do because they are unable to control their own lives, so they might as well control someone else’s.

Happy Hallowe'en!
From the worlds of Disparate Minds and Zadellin, The Cheshire House is thrilled to show you two fantastic new releases!
This unsettling cover of Disparate Minds’ Halloween special, ‘Into the Redline’, was created by writer Plum Pudding.
Into the Redline is the Hallowe'en special for Disparate Minds, penned by Plum Pudding, and edited by Ostara Gale (@a-wartime-paradox) and Aristide Twain (@aristidetwain). In front of a corpse in an abandoned mineshaft on Halloween is the last place local tea-drinker Todd wants to be, but with Wick and Serena’s lives on the line, and Anthea counting on him, he can’t turn back.
This amazing cover for Zadellin’s first mainline release, ‘0rigins’, was created by Heimeldat (@heimeldat), whose first Cheshire story is in this very collection! The logo near the top of this cover was drawn by Ryan Fogarty.
0rigins is a collection of eleven short stories which together act as the first mainline release of Zadellin. Featuring Zadellin herself, her crew, and her crew’s former coworkers, this collection has works from Theta Mandel (@theangelshavethephonebox), Ostara Gale, Aristide Twain, and newcomers to the series Gale Heimeldat, Molly Warton (@aquanafrahudy), and Plum Pudding. Edited by Theta Mandel, Ostara Gale, and Aristide Twain, from broken dreams and ghosts to zombies and betrayal, these stories provide insight into how the Agents ended up working at the Watch.

Apparently substack automatically posts a 'coming soon' thing, so, I found and edited that:

I gave in and made a facebook page. I know, I'm disappointed in me too.

I am currently setting up a substack to make it easy to keep up with what I'm doing - if anyone would like to subscribe early, the newsletter will be once a month, once the site has launched.

The devastating difference between how much time it takes to write something vs how fast people read it lol

We all agree, right?
AI to write your novel is wrong
A bargain with a demon to write your novel is okay

“you’re a writer, can you explain your process?” yes. first, i panic. then i procrastinate. then, in a fit of productivity at 3 a.m., i create chaos.
