Sisterhood Abroad
Just got an update from our sister Courtney Bach and her first week experience of studying abroad in Sydney Australia!
Check out what Courtney had to say:
I am so excited to report back that Greek life is truly an amazing bond across country lines. I live with a Kappa Delta from Ole Miss. We immediately bonded over our sisterhoods and the importance of Greek Life in our lives. Even though we aren't even from the same school or the same size chapter. We still know what the value of sisterhood is. I feel confident that we will be sisters through out this experience as well. Also, my university in Sydney is working on a sexual assault awareness campaign. Not get all geeky about my position in the sorority, but I was so excited to hear about this. The sexual assault program that Zeta puts on has become something I am super passionate about and have become invested in wanting to make sure that each of our sisters get the information and are able to implement it. So, they were asking random students questions for a questionnaire and I just happened to be chosen. I was able to educate the Australians on the sexual assault program that Zeta puts on, what our chapters strengths are, and how we have grown through this program. I was able to help him understand the power of My Sister, My Responsibility and the bond of a group that truly loves and cares for each other. I would love to just applaud my sisters and my lovely fraternity for being on the cutting edge of education in this area and allowing my to be platform for my sisters both at home and abroad.
When sisterhood is separated by a 15 hour time difference sometimes it can be hard to stay connected, but the most important thing about this experience has been realizing how close the sisterhood is even when apart. This sisterhood means making the calls in the early morning hours or super late at time. We make the sacrifices for each other. I love to be apart of Kappa Chi at Shorter University and cannot wait to see where our chapter will go. Our fraternity has already made an impact on Sydney, Australia and it is only week one!
