These are my finalised ideas of the boxes and flowers. The flowers are made out of crepe paper as the materials is easier to stretch to give more of a petal or leaf shape. Some were made from copying a youtube video whereas some were made of the top of my head. I feel that overall the outcome was good considering how hard origami actually is. I found this project really helpful in expanding my artistic variety and learning new skills

This was my first mock up of the box and flower and I think that it worked really well.

My Third A1 sheet is finalised box idea. I used the template for the packaging book, however I think that the template in the book was wrong as I couldn’t fit the top and bottom parts together when trying to make the box, so after countless attempts, I decided to create a new top and bottom to the box which did fit together as you can see on the sheet. I also decided that I wanted to make the boxes more exiting so I printed out each flower to make into the template for each box. When these templates are folded into a box they become a lot more abstract as you can’t tell that it is actually a flower.

My second A1 sheet was more developed as I drew the flowers as I wanted each package to be the actual flower itself and then I showed how each flower opened up to reaveal the seeds, or maybe the seeds just fit inside some of the flowers. I decided I wanted the flowers to be made out of coloured paper to give the bright vibrant colours of Oceania and card to keep it secure.

We had to create 3 A1 sheets to show the deveplopment of our ideas. For my first A1 sheet I put my chosen Oceania flowers with the names of each flower and a painting of each flower.

My next step was to research origami flowers to see how I could find which ones to make that were or looked close enough to my chosen Oceania flowers. I managed to find a couple YouTube videos which helped a lot.

I looked in this book for more packaging ideas and found a template for the box above that I thought would work really well with my idea as I could create little oragami flowers to go inside the middle section of each box.

Then I started to research packaging that’s shaped like flowers as I had the idea to make packaging for oceanic flower seeds. I wanted the package to look like an actual flower opening up to reaveal the seeds inside.

I started to research different oceanic flowers to see which flowers shapes and colours were most interesting for me to use in my work.

For our topic on ‘Eyes on the Horizon’ we visited the Oceania exhibition at The Royal Academy to give us a better understanding of the topic and to show us a variety of artwork to gather inspiration from. Personally a lot of the shapes from theses pictures and a lot of the bright colours used around the exhibition reminded me of flower petals which helped me to come up with my final idea on oceanic flowers.
