Welcome to “The Big House”. A great critique of the prison system and how men are destroyed from the outside in. Revolutionary for the 1930s and even today were men and women are still broken apart by a system that seeks to build them up

Shh “All Quiet on the Western Front” is a knockout. Since it’s original release back in 1930 and even today. The first of great anti-war movies and expressionism after the First World War and those of today. Milestone’s direction is great, but the performances is where it’s at. Lew Ayers and Louis Wolheim are a great duo including the supporting cast. Bravest thing to do is fight the system that wants you die.

“The Blue Angel” leads many men astray even the prudish aren’t safe from being a peeping Tom. Filmed in both English and German for both audiences. The English version can be wonky as all actors aren’t fluent speakers, but they do a good enough job to make it a good option. The male lead is a great authority figure that makes the viewer behave his best but as soon as he unravels to another perverse old man he ain’t so high and mighty any more.

“Dynamite” a Cecil B. DeMille work that is nothing like his grand religious or historical movies like “Cleopatra” or “Sign of the Cross”. A man facing death has only one wish and that is making sure his sister is provided for. A women who wants the inheritance from a deceased family member has to marry impeded to get it. Eventually both meet and just like dynamite their relationship is more or less explosive.
