Description: Annie gets ready for another day of high school

Alright, so I wanted to explore how the girlies (Annie, Sarah, Vallery, Ava and Celine) met, so I thought I'd start a miniseries-thing about their past! :D

Not only does that give you guys the chance to organically get used to the characters and such, but it's also a great way for me to ✨embellish✨ my writing skills.

Constructive criticism would be very much appreciated, btw

(Also, Willow City in this story is a fictional city I made up. As a general reference for this city though, think Salem from Massachusetts. Don't sweat the details too much)

Life in Willow City can be both humble, as well as challenging. Being a small city in the state of Massachusetts, it's detached from the rest of America in the most peculiar of ways, such as having the only operational orphanage on the whole continent.

Old-timey as it may sometimes be, it can still offer great opportunities.

That was the case for Laura and her daughters, Annie and Alexa. Coming from Romania with the dream of opening up her own restaurant, Willow City provided the perfect starting point for the single mother.

Alexa was quite the independent and adventurous spirit, not quite fond of staying in one place for long. For this reason, as an 18-year-old, she decided to immediately move out and explore the city on her own accord.

That left a 13-year-old Annie and her mom alone in an apartment.

Currently, Laura is at work, leaving Annie alone.

It's another school day, with her laying in bed. Her big, brown, tired eyes are focused on the blackened screen of her phone, awaiting the time she'll have to disable the alarm.

She slept for about five hours, so that was an excellent night's sleep. The sound of the alarm barely cuts through the silence of the apartment, before Annie taps the screen. Silence yet again. She lays down for an eternity staring off into space, out the window from which the sun tries to coax her out of bed.

Limbs are feeling as heavy as her brain, and though the nausea of sitting still for so long reels in, her muscles are still struggling to cooperate.

Maybe she can skip school today..? But no, she can't, she has to go to school, to get up. Other teenagers can do that, so can she. She has to, she just has to…

Maybe it's that very thought that pushes her to sit up, or maybe it's the beautiful sound of the birds chirping outside the window. Either way, good start.

‘Alrighty... Just a little more…’ she thinks to herself. Her feet finally hit the cold wood of the floor, and while she can feel the heaviness in her body already intensifying, she can't help but smile ever-so-slightly.

‘I did it.’

Taking a deep breath, she slowly lifts herself from the bed, now fully standing up.

Slowly stalking past the forgotten hairbrush on her desk, she exits her room and goes straight to the bathroom. Every second she spends in there feels like another year off her life, and by the time it's over she still hasn't done anything, not even brush her teeth.

Painstakingly tossing on the first clothes she finds, the only clothes she ever wears, Annie grabs her backpack and goes to the kitchen. Her mom made a habit out of packing lunch for her. Sometimes Annie can't eat it, sometimes she pushes herself to eat it out of guilt. Either way, she makes sure to always take the food with her. It just doesn't feel right to leave it here, a reminder to her mom of how bad she is at taking care of herself.

Before opening the front door, Annie catches a glimpse of herself in the mirror. Her brown hair is just as overgrown and messy as she remembers it, her eyebags have gotten a touch more pronounced, her face in general looks so tired and sad and wrong and-

Alright, that's enough self-reflection.

Annie turns the doorknob and silently opens the door, as if trying to not disturb the neighbors with her existence. She puts on her best smile, exits the apartment and closes the door behind her.

Here comes another day.

Deadass, the most painfully boring three days of my life, though that just meant it forced me to not procrastinate things anymore lmao

First day I straight up started plucking weeds from the garden randomly HAHAH

Overall rating of this experience, 6/10. Will I ever do it to thid extreme? Probably not. Were (some of) the side effects worth it? Yeah, I'd say so. I feel just a little happier rn :>

Have you guys noticed my absolute horrendous posting schedule? Literally didn't even post anything for a few months until recently lmao

But anyway, I'm going no internet or technology from Monday until like Tuesday or Wednesday. No more cheap dopamine in that time-frame lol

I will try to post like a few different things on Thursday to make up for lost time tho

There were multiple times where they just turned into a little rat and I put them in my purse, and snuck them into the movie theater. The most romantic experience of my life, honestly.

When most people say their partner is their everything, they mean it metaphorically. You don’t. Your spouse is a near limitless shapeshifter who can turn into anything from household objects to immaterial concepts. You’ve had some pretty unique dates.
