Just noticed I have a bunch of pale dots on my forearms from picking at my skin. Honestly I think they're cute, like reverse freckles

Laptops are always so much more Fucked than phones in my experience. A laptop is like a beautiful horse that wants nothing more than to break all of its legs. A decently solid android phone will act normal

It is 5:30 AM and I desperately need to know the name of that scientist who was a famous dressmaker first but everyone minimizes her dressmaking career because trades conventionally associated with women are radically undervalued compared to trades conventionally associated with men, and it drives me absolutely up the wall

The dynamic of Cassie and Rachel is making me insane. What if someone was your conscience but also you resented them for making you feel like you were a bloodthirsty monster? What if your friend had the courage to do what you couldn't but made you feel weak and stupid for sticking to your morals? What if you went shopping at the mall together about it?

I am by no means an expert but it seems to me “your body does not belong to you” is a major theme of right wing authoritarianism and, interestingly, modern USAmerican thinking. This underpins so much from abortion to forcing kids to hug their relatives. Your body belongs to the state, or God, or your husband, or your boss, or your doctor. Everything from trans and gay liberation to forcing autistic people to look in your eyes to making cashiers stand for no reason. Your body does not belong to you, but taking care of your body is your responsibility and your responsibility alone, and if you fail in some way, you deserve the consequences.

My puppy is rather malleable when she’s napping. Decided to make a quick stop motion animation with her!

I donate blood sometimes because why not, you know? And a while ago I was matched with a patient at the hospital who needs blood regularly. So now, every few months, whenever they’re doing something with that patient that requires blood (surgery etc) they call me and we set up a date for me to donate, a day or two before they need the blood. The only thing that’s different for me than before, is the specific time I go to donate.
Yet now I have this odd social engagement with someone who I will never meet. Both our schedules are dictated by this shared plan, carefully set up by nurses and medical administrators, with no direct contact between us. The last week or so before I donate I think about making sure I don’t catch a bug or eat something bad, knowing that my blood will soon be in someone else who needs my blood specifically.
Its the oddest non-relationship I’ve ever had. I don’t know who they are, I don’t know why they need my blood. As it should be; I don’t need to know. It’s not my business, after all.
I hope that being able to use my blood makes whatever is wrong with them easier to deal with. We’re not even strangers passing in the night, but at the same time, we’re linked together by our bodies.
I hope, whoever they are, they’re doing ok.
