Our family holiday to Japan in January 2020, when I turned 40 and the world changed almost overnight.
Music: Nocture by Tchaikovsky and Chasing After Deer by the Fleet Foxes.
I will keep posting family videos here for the time being, but anyone who wants to can ‘subscribe’ to follow me on YouTube if you click on the video and then click on my profile and click ‘subscribe’.

I have finally reached the end of my patience with Tumblr. The interface has become increasingly temperamental and annoying over the years and it prevents me keeping up to date with photos. I’ve decided, at least for the time being, to resurrect our old Flickr account. So, all our photos from our recent trip to Japan are in the link above, and from there you can click on our main Flickr account to see all the photos we have there. I will work out a more permanent solution in time...

One of the things I knew we would HAVE to try and do while in Japan, was visit the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo. It has the most idiosyncratic booking system imaginable, but it was worth it. It was one of my favourite days of the trip. (We have very few pics, as photography is not allowed inside the museum).

We spent our first day in Tokyo with an old friend of Eran’s: Eran studied with Sachi in Swansea back in 2003. We met her for the first time since then: she took us for sushi and to walk around a part of the old city, including the oldest temple in Tokyo.

Our next stop was Tokyo. We stayed in a cute suburb that reminded me a lot of Holland: train tracks through streets, flower shops, bicycles everywhere, and old-skool coffee-shops.

This is Osaka, where we started our Japan trip in January. It already seems incredible now that we were able to do this trip, in light of what was unfolding in China at the time, and what would find its way across the globe to trace our tracks through Japan, Hong Kong, Israel and the UK.
