I Voted
My ballot came in the mail today. I filled it out and dropped it off in person at the county elections office. I wanted to vote at the earliest possible opportunity and see that my ballot got into the physical custody of the elections office employees with my own eyes. I think I’ve done everything I can to make sure my vote is counted.
I’ve checked in with all my friends and family, and I’ve encouraged them to vote. Have you voted, or made a plan to vote?

Have a lovely day, Gentle Readers. I hope your Monday is filled with love, kindness, acceptance and joy.
Also, a small aside. It's hard to find bi pride art that's in the public domain or has a CC license. I found plenty of rainbow flag stuff, but the bi pride images were fewer and farther between. Make of that what you will.

Happy equinox, everyone. This equinox occurs just before midnight (Pacific Time) tonight.
If you're doing anything to celebrate the arrival of autumn (or spring if you're in the southern hemisphere), I hope you have a lovely time. If not, I hope your Sunday and Monday are peaceful.

Longing for a tea party...
I was looking at the news online yesterday when I came across an article about a Victorian tea fundraiser for one of the local historical sites. I don't have the money, leisure or appropriate clothing to attend, and I'd probably be stressed out being around strangers if I went alone. Yet I still wish I could go.
Neely Mansion in Auburn, WA
The Neely Mansion in Auburn is having a Victorian Tea on May 11th. I discovered the event through an article in the Auburn Reporter.
"Enjoy tea sandwiches, breads and other Victorian-era refreshments accompanied by live piano music. Tour the historic mansion, spring gardens, vintage farm equipment and Japanese bath house with costumed docents."
—quote from the Auburn Reporter article
Seeing the article made me really nostalgic for the tea parties I used to have with my mother and my dolls, and the times when Periwinkle and I would take tours of museums and historical sites. I suppose what I really want is the stability in my life that would allow me to do things like this again.

Armistice Day
It's been 100 years. Have we learned anything? Have we forgotten?
Life is fragile and ephemeral, Gentle Readers, so try to take care of yourselves and each other.

The connection between remembrance of the fallen and poppies, especially in the UK and the British Commonwealth, can be traced in part to the poem In Flanders Fields by John McCrae (1872-1918). The poem is now in the public domain. Here is an illustrated edition from the University of California library system, via the Internet Archive:
