as the sole person who ships this i must say that it's not the idea of them becoming a power couple that's compelling to me, but the fact that, as you've pointed out, they would 100% try to destroy each other. the idea of a complex power struggle between two hot people who also want to fuck is just too juicy for me

Thoughts on Murad/Turhan ship?

I don't personally ship Murad with any woman tbh

I haven't seen that many Murad/Turhan shippers, but from what I've seen, the idea is that since Turhan is strong and ruthless, Murad would recognize her as his match and they would become a power couple and steamroll over everyone.

As much as I like the idea of such a couple, I don't buy it for them. Murad is an absolutist, he doesn't want to share his power with anyone, especially not with a woman. Turhan is smart, ambitious, interested in state affairs, and takes no shit. She would remind him too much of his mother and sooner or later he would resent her for it and try to "put her in her place" and she would hate him for it.

Like I can see her at first playing loyal and submissive like she did with Kosem whom she had identified as the real power since Ibrahim was so weak, but just like his mother, they would come to butt heads eventually

Anyway, Turhan x Koprulu is where it's at for me.

Similarities between Mickey Milkovich and Hürrem sultan

1. Lets start from season one. Mickey was a traumatised teen, grew up in a toxic household which is why he was wilding and acting unhinged as a teen. Hürrem had a normal childhood, but was taken away after having her family murdered and she got enslaved as a young teen. Which is why she started acting out when we see her on a ship and first come to harem. Situations aren't identical, but their unhinged attitudes mostly stem from the fucked up circumstances they were forced to endure

2. Their first appearences ever in the series show them attempting to attack someone 😭

2. They're both dramatic and funny af🙏 like big part of their characters <3

3. They're both good at scheming. With Hürrem we see that in multiple harem arcs. One being setting up Mahidevran for Valide's murder attempt to become a Valide sultan in s2b. With Mickey we see it with him setting up a homophobic priest in s5 and with him doing a bunch of illegal hustles to make a living

4. Both can be absolute failures at times 💖 getting caught in their schemes or fuck up

5. They say fucked up shit sometimes. Mickey usually does so cause of his internalised homophobia and Hürrem cause of her internalised misogyny™️. Again, both stems from the enviroments they're in

6. Both can be physically violent

7. They are usually a breath of fresh air in both shows because of their self awarness

8. Both learn to function in the enviroments they're in. Mickey did so because he was literally raised in it tho, Hürrem did so with time

9. They both love fiercely. For their partners they will do ANYTHING. No matter how big or small it might be..

10. But not only for their partners, for their families in general they will do anything. Cut to Mickey trying to beat people up for thinking they assaulted his sister and Hürrem doing anything for her kids. They're both protective

11. They will betray people if they're not partners/family members to get what they want

12. They both get pretty jealous

13. They both get underappreciated by other characters. Sure, some things they deserve, some not

14. Both main ships of said characters first get involved physically together and after that emotionally

15. They have abandonment issues which we see in their romantic relationships. They can get too codependent with their partners

16. They both have such a nice character development

17. They're both very expressive

18. They're both good at masking their feelings yeah

19. They're both depressed. Mickey does have substance abuse problems, hates seeing his own reflection in the mirror cause he hates who he is. Hürrem carries a poison with herself and hates seeing her own relfection in the mirror as well because she hated getting older and not being the 'young, beautiful' concubine anymore she felt like she needed to be. Just like he felt like he needed to be straight. So yeah, as mentioned before, it all comes back to their internalised homophobia and misogyny

20. They both managed to, in a way, escape the situation they felt stuck in with love. Mickey by coming out, Hürrem by building herself a family
