Thank you to everyone who voted in the Mark Leader Election! I know I ran unopposed, but it still means a lot that people believed in me enough to vote for me instead of abstaining. I want everyone to know that I am planning on taking this as seriously as it deserves to be taken. I already have so many ideas, and I can’t wait to set them into motion. To begin, I want to open the floor to my fellow Switches. I would really like some feedback, to hear what it is you’re all specifically hoping to see improve here for those carrying the new mark. What challenges have you faced? What questions do you have? What would be most beneficial to you at this stage of things? Let me know, I want to hear from each of you!

I don’t want anyone to think they’ve been forgotten. While these elections were to unify the marks, with the way things have been going I think we could all do with some unity. I’m working on another idea for this weekend. One that I hope will help everyone start to rebuild some of these bridges. I’m not going to reveal what it’s for, because I don’t want that to be used as a reason people don’t attend, or skip out. But, I would like for everyone- and I do mean everyone- to leave their name and mark down below. I’ll release the “why” later. Just know that this is for an event that will require participation this weekend. It won’t be massive and it won’t take up too much time, but it will happen in parts, and it will require some effort. So again, please just leave your name and mark down below, and leave the rest to me! I hope I’ll see everyone responding soon.

Coming to a new place, Polo had thought would be a completely new experience, but the ghosts of his past wouldn’t leave him. It wasn’t just what he had done that haunted him, but the responsibilities that had driven him mad as well. School clubs were a thing here too, just like Las Encinas, and he could feel the panic rising at the fact that he hadn’t signed up for anything yet. So he made his way from McKinley to the academy library and found himself a place to set up. He organized his materials meticulously and then set to work organizing his class schedule, homework time allotment, and judged his free time against the club schedule and began writing things down. I should do this… I should do that… Save time for speech practice to keep the stutter away… Look into this… Look into that… The retreat… Mark Leaders… What did I do? Soccer… Swimming… Track… He closed his eyes for just a moment, his head spinning, and when he opened his eyes there was blood on his hands. Not really, but he saw it as a part of his panic attack. @tgaimportant​

The quiet of the library was something that Zeke loved, and it was a place he sought when the noise of school and his fellow students had become too much to take. It wasn’t hard for him to spot Polo, with the strange look on his face and mannerisms that Zeke didn’t fully understand but knew weren’t what might have been considered “normal”. Normally he wouldn’t have bothered, but something pushed him to walk over and speak to the man. “Hello. My name is Zeke Amir. You don’t look okay. Do you need something?”

OOC: Gifts left outside of everyone’s doors on Valentine’s Day. Artie did his research- those who needed sugar free cookies got them, those with gluten intolerances got gluten free, and those who are vegan got vegan cookies! Each card had a short, personalized message included, saying something nice about the recipient and wishing them a Happy Valentine’s Day.

DM: I know you haven’t, I know you wouldn’t. I get nervous, but that’s not something for me to place on you, I’m sorry. I don’t want to be. But I’ve seen him. He’s nice. Active. Lively in ways I’m not. Sometimes I think I’m too boring for you. Too attached to my experiments and too unwilling to leave my suite. People make me nervous. I don’t like crowds and noise. I trust you. But I know how people are here. How they think. End goals don’t matter. Someone sees something they like in the moment and it’s like attachments mean nothing. I know other people can handle being with two and three and four people at a time, but I can’t. That’s part of why I never took a claim. I don’t want to hold anyone prisoner when there are so many others here who are willing to be so open. I know that I make things hard. I know that being with me is hard. I just know that on the outside, he’s more of your type. Appearances mean nothing, I know that. But it doesn’t change the surface concern. What do you mean? How would we do that? It would. It seems like you’re only interested in help from those you consider cut and pretty. But those are both subjective statements, so really you should have provided a little more information. And, I’m tempted to inquire about why only those who you deem cute or pretty are worthy of carrying your bags or assisting you at all. The last I checked, how someone’s face looks is no measurement of their ability to carry and unpack items. But, I won’t ask directly because I suspect that the answer I receive will be more agitating than clarifying. In favor of that I’ll say hello. I am Zeke Amir. Dominant.

I am having a lot of fun with the ASL club, you guys. Thank you for being so interested and invested. It’s been a lot of fun to teach you guys ASL and to keep things fun– do you want to help with new songs and types of music that you’d like me to help the club interpret? I would love to see the club partner with the drama club as well, and even the glee club. If any other club captains want to talk to me about partnering for something, let me know.

While I’m here, for those that haven’t been to the club yet, interpreting music in ASL is different than translating word for word. ASL has different grammar than spoken English already, but when translating music you have to keep things like hidden meanings in mind when translating, so often times it is not word for word at all, even in ASL grammar. There are things in music that don’t exist in every day ASL. That’s part of what I find so beautiful about music and lyrics.

I don’t think I can come up with something to answer this. I don’t usually hear pick up lines, and if I do, they haven’t made me smile. I’m sure others will have better answers. What prompted you to ask this question in particular?
