The Dark Tower Mixtape - "Priest & Vampire (Someone Saved My Life Tonight" on SKzd. My best track yet, by a mile. Featuring a rendition of the Elton John tune, arranged and performed by the inimitable PLANET ARTEMIS, poster art by Alicia Rose Bane, starring a character from the one and only 'Salem's Lot.
The gist of The Dark Tower Mixtape is I record my favorite passages from Stephen King’s epic, genre-spanning series and write/cover/sample/commission music that makes alchemical magic with the text, then publish them on my Patreon, SKzd. ($3 gets you almost two years worth of writing + audio.) "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" is written right into this Wolves of the Calla scene, and New Zealand film composer Planet Artemis—who you should check out on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube—delivered a truly stunning rendition.
My mission’s for anyone to be able enjoy these short audio adventures—fan or not, read the books long ago or never once. Check out Track 13: "Priest & Vampire (Someone Saved My Life Tonight)" and let me know what you think?

📼 🌹 THE DARK TOWER MIXTAPE🌹📼
…is audio fanart I make for my Stephen King Patreon. It’s a newbie-friendly audio quest where I narrate and musically score the genre-spanning series’ greatest hits in nonchronological, song-length bites. Every one begins with a mini-cover of a relevant song (Crazy Train for “Blaine & Wastes,” La Vie en Rose for “Jake & Rose,” Separate Ways/Worlds Apart for “Eddie & Sky Carriage,” etc) and then either an original composition for the duration, or reworked covers of existing songs (one is a montage of Sabbath riffs and I love it—but I love them all, to death).
Come check it out? Or just enjoy the new cassette art element right here on tumblr dot com. Long days and pleasant nights, sais.

There were so many books on so many shelves, I knew I could live to be old without coming to the end of them. The sound of the pages turning was the sound of magic. The dry liquid feel of paper under fingertips was what magic felt like.

Seek out Ballad for Sophie! What an astonishing experience. Around the halfway mark this went from a cool, gorgeous, funny comic to something transcendent. It's very rare for me that even a great graphic novel: –makes me cry –makes me think this deeply about love and life –has this kind of genuine sexiness in parts –forces a purchase on me immediately upon finishing the library copy that I know I can check out again at any time
And the writer composed some beautiful piano you can stream while you listen :)

Documents Week: The story of Ish
Extremely Ellie & Joel-ish moment from Ish:
“I almost told them about this place. What if they’re like the others! What if… You know what? I don’t care. What’s the point of surviving if you don’t have someone to laugh at your lame jokes?”

Something that I first applied to working with children, and have applied in a limited form to working with adults: you don't need to tell someone when they read your instructions wrong. Sometimes it's enough to point out what they did right and then whatever they didn't do? You ask them to do it in more precise words, and you make it sound like it's a new request. Remarkable how fast things get done this way.
