An excerpt from Nishiyama Koutarou’s interview in Voice Newtype 055
Did you have a complex about your high-pitched voice?
I was blessed with people around me/more friends. Because everyone always tells me “you could be a seiyuu!” (with that kind of voice), it made me happy. But…..
But?
Despite that, I didn’t fear/worry having my voice break (during puberty) as I entered High School. In said High School, I first realised how fun acting is and slowly got more into it. Because of that, during my 3rd year, I entered “81Produce Audition” and won a special award. I then took that as a chance to move forward in the path of being a seiyuu.
Also, as I was the youngest in the family, my parents allowed me to do freely as I wanted and gave me a push on the back to move forward (in this path) as well.
This guy. Is indeed blessed despite having a high-pitched voice.
Even as a girl, I get picked on for having a high-pitched voice throughout my school years lol. I guess culture difference? I was indeed told that I could try for a voice-acting career by JP friends and even when I chatted with staff from clothing stores etc. and even at the nail salon I was at back in JP last year.
OK I THINK I’VE RESTED ENOUGH AND EVERY MUSCLE IN MY BODY IS STILL ACHING FROM HOW HAM I WENT FOR THIS LIVE BUT I WANT TO GET MY THOUGHTS OUT! I need to get my thoughts on this out :’)
Part 2 here
Anyway an unecessary introduction! Hello! I’m Mints! I’ve been playing IDOLiSH7 since the game first released on August 20th 2015. Despite not being a fan of the idol genre myself, i7 has proven itself to be an amazing piece of work and thus I’ve devoted the past 3 years of my life faithfully supporting it and my best boy Izumi Iori, and probably will continue doing so for many more years to come.
This live concert is like a dream come true and I still cannot believe that I managed to nab the chance to go for it and experience the event on both days firsthand. I want to share my thoughts and as detailed of the happenings that went on during these two days. It may not be as detailed as others but I want to do my best to bring forth the feelings of the 12 members of the main cast, as well as the staff members behind its creation, to those who were not able to attend.
Disclaimer: The seats I won from the ballot were for Day 2, while my seats for Day 1 were lawn tickets that I bought when normal sales were opened. As such, a lot of my memories from Day 1 may be inaccurate or missing in detail simply because my view of the stage was from an extreme side angle. I had to rely on the cameras but the screen for the lawns often showed different footage from the screens on the main stage so bear this in mind. Also, as mentioned above, while I love the whole cast, I am an Iori-oshi and a huge Massu fan at heart, so please don’t be surprised or take offense if I seem to have more details for him compared to the rest. I don’t want to reference others’ live reports other than the set list as this is a report of my own experiences. Since the live did such a good job at blurring the line between the seiyuus and their characters, I might switch between their names from time to time without prior warning, I apologize if this becomes jarring.
Regardless, extremely sorry for the long intro! The real Live report is under the cut! I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
