AAAAALLRIGHT ASPIRING CONCEPT ARTISTS, ILLUSTRATORS, ANIMATORS, AND OR JUST ARTISTS IN GENERAL.

THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL EXERCISE I REALLY RECOMMEND YOU ALL DO.

In the red, we have a skeletal study—finding out where the bones or structure of the character would be. In blue we have the peices of the characters split into different shapes to make them easier to draw and remember. Green is mass shapes and masses. Purple is the line of action.

Guys, I have like. A bazillion times more understanding of the characters above than I had before. I completely recommend doing this: study their skeleton and then dominant shapes and masses. It will give you a better understanding of how your character moves and is held together.

The line of motion helps you make your character move in a more interesting fashion. It helps you see their movement and motion in a better light, and where there weight is being distributed.

And there you go.

Awesome exercise.

“Tough” rag doll

A/N: Sorry, darlings, you should’ve known this was coming sooner or later! These adorable rag dolls have completely captured my heart! Leave a like and reblog if you enjoyed! It means a lot!

Summary: After the “rescue” of Babette, Andy is back to being… Well, Andy. Ann and Babette decide they’re going prove he’s a big softie underneath the rough and tumble facade.

“It wasn’t that bad!”

“For you! You’re a girl! Of course you’re gonna be fine with tea parties!”

Babette and Ann shared an amused look.

“You didn’t object when Marcella fed us that delicious chocolate cake, monsieur Andy!” Babette pointed out with a giggle.

Andy huffed, crossing his arms with an annoyed look.

“Aw, Andy, you know Marcella loves you!” Ann reasoned.

“Yeah, yeah, I know! You’d just think she’d find something more my style to play! Y'know, like cowboys or pirates!”

Ann rolled her eyes, smiling patiently at her brother. Boys will be boys, as so many said. Andy would prefer being out in mud puddles playing pirates but his owner was a seven year old girl.

It didn’t make him love her any less, however. The girl was caring, loving, and sweet. Actually, Andy couldn’t have asked for a better owner.

Ann knew this. Despite all his complaints, he loved Marcella as much as she loved him.

Ann also knew that Andy wasn’t quite as aloof as he came off at times.

Oh yes, he was strong and protective. That she had no doubts of. He just wasn’t that adverse to Marcella’s games as he wanted the other residents of the playroom to think.

“Hey, Babette, you thinking what I’m thinking?” Ann asked, smiling at the blond doll.

“I think so, Annie! Tag team?”

“Tag team!”

Andy took a good fifty steps back. “Aw, c'mon guys! This isn’t nessecary!”

“It would put an end to your complaining, oui? Pluuuus, it gives us a chance to get you to smile!” Babette replied, advancing ever closer.

“Annie!” Andy whined, quickly realizing there was no escaping. Once his twin got in this mood, there was no stopping her. Add Babette to the equation and well… Things got pretty ugly.

“Do you want to hold him up or should I?” Babette asked.

“We’ll just take turns!” Ann decided, going behind Andy to hold his arms up.

“What?! That’s even worse! I-I hehehehehe!” His words dissolved into giggly protests, as he felt Babette skillfully run her fingers up and down his sides. He kicked out a little but Ann held him steady.

“Cohohohohome on, Annie! Nohohohohohoho!”

“I’m not doing anything!” Ann laughed, squeezing along Andy’s “ribs” getting a few squeaks out of him. The girls giggled with him, sharing mischevious looks.

“You know, I thought it was you I heard laughing the loudest when Gazooks had us,” Babette teased. “I now know I was right!”

Babette skittered her fingers quickly over the smaller dolls’ belly. His breath hitched and laughter spiked up.

“Ooh, a weak spot, non?” Babette questioned, deciding to stay in that spot.

“Ahahahahahannie! Mahahahahake her stohahahahahap!” Andy managed to plead.

“I’m just trying to improve your mood, monsieur,” Babette responded. “You have been somewhat grouchy today!”

Had Andy been able to to respond, he would have said something smart. Best not to though. It would probably worsen the situation!

“She’s right, Andy! You’ve been grumpy today, so this is the best way to get you to smile!”

Ann used one hand to hold his arms up, while using the other to prod and squeeze where he would have hips.

Andy’s back arched, trying to get away from his sister’s invasive hands. He gave a barely choked back squeal, when Ann prodded where his top ribs would be.

“Your twin is très adorable, Annie!” Babette giggled. Just when Andy didn’t think it could get any worse!

“Nohohohoho I’m nohahahahahat!” He insisted, trying to sound annoyed yet failing.

The other toys laughed quietly or smiled at the scene. This was an ongoing occurrence, these little tickle fights between the twins. They usually always ended with Ann being the victor.

Babette and Ann switched, allowing Ann to have a go at her brother.

From what Babette gathered, his worst spots seemed to be where his hips and ribs would be, and his belly. Get him in the right place and he’d squeal.

“For someone who is strong, brave, and helped his sister rescue me, you certainly are a ticklish one!” Babette cooed. Andy didn’t think it was possible for his face to turn two more shades of red but it did!

The teasing quips were only worsening situation and sensations! He almost shrieked when Ann started pinching the rib spot.

The girls laughed, deciding to torment him for another minute, before stopping.

Ann held him up, despite him slumping over.

“You guys are cruel,” Andy panted. “Why am I always the target?”

Ann took off his hat, ruffling his hair playfully.

“You are my little brother,” she reasoned. “I gotta mess with you sometimes!”

“You mess with me everyday!”

“That’s because you make yourself too fun and easy not to!” Babette reasoned.

Andy gave an exaggerated groan. Once again, there was just too many girls!
