🍉 Queer Palestinian Books 🍉
🇵🇸 The algorithm is going to keep silencing my posts, but they're not going to silence me. I grew up with little to no books that made me feel seen as a queer/bisexual Palestinian Arab American. Today, it's still not easy enough to find those books online, even though we have thousands of lists, posts, and directories to guide us. To make your search a little easier, here are a few queer Palestinian books to add to your TBR. Please help me spread this by reblogging. Consider adding these to your least for Read Palestine Week (click for resources)! 💜

I think about pokemon in non-battle situations a lot. Like pokemon who have been trained/raised to be helpers and assistants than to be battle partners.
Pokemon visiting hospitals to cheer patients up like dogs and cats do. Or ones that help kids learn to read, speak, swim, go through therapy?! Even pokemon who’s abilities help owners with specific disabilities?!
I love thinking of pokemon outside of battle situations.

just thought i'd clarify something, when i say "kieran's literally a teenager" i do not mean "Kieran is an UwU precious bean incapable of wrong".
I mean "when your a teenager you tend to take everything way to seriously and your feeling a lot of strong emotions that can make you lash out" he made mistakes! He was an ass to people! and then he apologised for it! If you remove his flaws you also remove his character growth and narrative!
Kieran being kind of a dick doesn't make him evil and unlikable, it humanizes him and makes his narrative arc more impactful. you do not need to sanitize him in order to like him.
sorry that im rambling, it just kind of annoys me that after years of asking for a more emotionally complex rival, once we got him everyone decided he was either a tyrant or a martyr with no in between.
at some point im gonna do a full breakdown of his character and why i like him.
TLDR: Kieran is a kid who made mistakes and hurt people, but that does not make him unlikable or evil, and i dislike how people either remove his flaws entirely or demonize him.

Short Prompt #1358
“You’ve been acting off lately.”
The human paused what they were doing, and turned around. “How so, my lord?”
The god watched them with a critical dozen of eyes from his throne, studying them like a little bug. “Ever since the goddess of spring came to me offering allegiance, something has changed about you.”
“I…” Human drawled, “I’m not sure what to say...”
The Lord beckoned them over. Naturally, they obliged with each step closer putting them on edge. “...I-I don’t feel as though anything has changed.”
The god scowled at that.
“...Every time she enters the room, you go quiet.”
He grabbed them by the chin, pulling them down.
“Everytime time she comes near me, you look on with disdain.”
The god’s eyes glowed; their ferocious glare demanding the truth.
“What problem do you have with her?”
…
A silence settled over the pair. Human contemplated how to answer while avoiding their Lord’s piercing gaze. When they were ready, they locked eyes with the divine being.
“I have nothing against the Spring Goddess… I know you are fond of her, and I would never dare get in my Master’s way.”
…
The god let them go; neither angry nor pleased with the response, and dismissed them.
Human took their leave. Their mind went abuzz with a menagerie of thoughts and emotions that they were too terrified to share.
How could they possibly ever tell the god that they, a simple little mortal, had fallen in love with them? How could they ever speak of their heartbreak while drowning in so much shame?

happy pride month!
same-sex courting behavior and social bonding has been found in almost every single species of pokémon on the planet. in herptile pokémon, however, this behavior can be difficult to quantify. the vast majority of herp pokémon are not social, and mating encounters are brief. social bonds are rarely formed, meaning that in order to point to a herp pokémon that definitively shows frequent same-sex behavior we must look to salazzle.
the most common mating system of salazzle is that of a polyandrous lounge with one lead salazzle and a group of salandit, mostly male. in most cases, sexually mature female salandit leave their lounge as they evolve, and head off to collect males of their own.
however, some salazzle shun this system entirely. it is not uncommon for salazzle to form social groups of multiple adult salazzle and their female salandit offspring. these all-female lounges spurn the advances of male salandit and reproduce using something called “parthenogenesis.”
parthenogenesis is technically considered a form of asexual reproduction, and involves the salazzle laying eggs that hatch into genetically identical clones of herself. due to the fact that these eggs develop without the need for sperm, it is not considered on a scientific level to be sexual.
but it cannot occur without mating. in these lounges of lesbian lizards (lizbians, if you will), when the reproductive season strikes, salazzle begin to pair off. one salazzle takes on the role of a male salandit and performs courtship behaviors towards her partner that tell her partner’s body, “hey, it’s time to start laying eggs!” without this interaction, a parthenogenetic salazzle will not lay fertile eggs.
for this reason, salazzle has become a sapphic icon in the regions to which it is native, and its symbolism has begun to spread across the world. happy pride to these lizbians!
