Shocked and more than a bit startled, Shikamaru wheezes loudly, the sound carrying across the clearing and causing Naruto to abruptly turn and look in his direction.

Kurama is done with humans, his vessel clearly wasn’t being taken care of, and Naruto ends up raised away from Konoha by a skulk of spirit foxes and one very grumpy fox bijuu who has issues with intermittent bouts of rage against humans in general and idiotic seal masters in particular.
