Me: You know, I love the Valar, but Manwe is probably my least favourite, like, he's not very interesting, and he's really indecisive, and he doesn't GET mortal people, like the Valar's messengers to Numenor spectacularly fucked up because he didn't even realize he should TRY to think about things from our perspective. And he's kind of a dick to Yavanna to be honest... I've noticed that I rag on him a lot in Valarfic and I'm not even really that sorry, you know?

Some fucking person on tumblr: The Valar suck, and Tolkien specifically called out Manwe's indecisiveness in a letter somewhere, which definitely means that the Valar are canonically terrible and not simply that Tolkien was writing them as actual people with character flaws, and Feanor was 100% justified in everything he did and said and the Valar just oppressed him, and honestly when you look at it, Manwe is pretty much as bad as Morgoth.
