[After seeing the support from my Canadian friends, ELIAS and MIA mods, I felt inspired to weigh in on behalf of my fellow Americans out there.]
[I am as shaken by the news as anyone else right now, but during times like this, I want to take a page out of CODY's book and say: Even when it feels like the world doesn't want you to exist, stay alive out of spite. Even when there are people against you, there are still so, so many people who will love and support you in spite of them. Surround yourself with them, and you will be able to persevere through anything.]
[I've come to understand that PKMN-MONOCHROME has become a source of comfort for people during times when they needed it the most. I hope to continue being that for you right now, as well. Thank you, and please take good care of yourselves.]

CLANK.
The sound of metal hitting the old floors they stood on. Followed by a clinking chain.
Elias held his beartrap up, gripping the metal chain with enough firmness to make his already pale knuckles turn pure white.
"I don't want to "heal" anymore."
The silence in the room seemed tense. A different kind of tense. One that anticipated something horrible for either party.
"I lost that desire a looooong time ago. That person I used to be out there is dead."
This time.. Elias takes a step forward. His wide-eyed stare almost resembled a wild animal that had finally found itself a new prey.
"Hurt is all that's left of me. I won't take the words of a man who never even helped his own grandkid to heart when you can't even remember his actual name half the time." He sneers, before muttering. "..You're just like him, in that way.."
Sheesh.. I guess the old man being a dickhead is a constant between my game and his.

It's not a familiar face to OAK, but he knows it still. Can see the familiarity in the code, how it parallels neatley with this cartridge's. He isn't from this generation, so then it must be...
He lets his gaze fall over the boy, unreadable except for clear judgement at the uncanny appearance. Yes, he knows this. He knows the base appearance, at least, and there's been plenty of players of BLUE's game, so he can easily sort through memories buried in code to figure out the specifics.
There. Yes, perfect.
[ “, Burnt up your RIVAL'S Pokémon to give him a scare, yes, yes, horrible! ” ]
[ “ ...I'm just kidding. That's not the important part. Is it, ELIAS? ” ]
One, two steps and he's still half-glaring.
[ “ What was it that MAXIMUS said? You were....too intense for him. Yes, yes, so you wandered into a forest and got yourself killed. Tragic, but I've heard worse. ” ]
Three, four, a clock on the wall ticks with empty time, pre-set and inaccurate.
[ “ Perhaps you're here for a reason. Do you want something, SILVER? A proper welcome? ” ]
Five, six, and his expression goes blank. He casts a glance at the PC, which still displays a almost frozen picture of BLUE at the coast's edge.
He shifts his gaze back, offers the boy a fake smile.
[ “ Hello, there.
Welcome to the world of POKEMON! ” ]

Seeing as I'm Canadian I can't tell just how bad it's going to be over there, but most of the people I know on here are. I made this to help y'all remember that this isn't the end. I believe all of you can survive and make it through this. <3
if my pokepastas are anyone's comfort characters, i hope this made your day just a little better!

"No."
It's abrupt and without any hesitation. Instantly shutting Oak down, and turning back towards him.
"If you actually understood, you'd know it's already too late for me. I'm not stupid enough to believe you have good intentions with that overplayed bullshit."
"You professors are all the same, y'know that? Because the first time I woke up in this form that other you practically said those EXACT words. Just to make me trust him enough to get closer."
He reaches behind his back, as if grabbing something.
"Because if I'm too broken to 'heal', the only way to make me function to him was to make me forget."
Sheesh.. I guess the old man being a dickhead is a constant between my game and his.

"Maybe it is," Elias murmurs, "But it made me endure a slow and agonizing death. Starving and bleeding out on the cold forest floor isn't super fun, you know."
Elias turns away, crossing his arms. A blatant show of how little he seemed to respect the AI he was speaking with.
"He went to find me, when nobody else cared to even report me as missing. And when he did? He tried to steal from me, even after finding my corpse."
He peers back at Oak from over his shoulder, a toothy grin slowly appearing on his face.
"So, yes. In a way. I did. It was the only time I was ever able to manifest outside of that damned game.. But god, he deserved it. And I don't regret it whatsoever."
Sheesh.. I guess the old man being a dickhead is a constant between my game and his.

The deep red around his ankle darkens considerably. It was an old and hidden rot that only ever showed itself when the truth did. A pungent smell wafted in the fake air between them as Elias sneered back at him, teeth bared.
"What I did?"
He pauses, and after a moment, an incredulous laugh escapes him.
"WHAT I DID?! You should be asking what EVERYONE in my life did to ME!"
Elias can't toy with reality in other games, as much as he wishes he could. He glances around the room, frustration building. Between all games, this professor was the same. Uncaring. No empathy. The opposite of the character he used to find comfort in seeing each time he replayed his game. It was never real comfort, just like everyone else had lied to him back then.
Silence. Just the sound of the clock. He peers up at him, head lowered. Elias had the smallest smirk on his face now.
"..Do you know how easy it is for a beartrap to crush a human skull, professor?"
He lifts his head. "All you need to do is trip on something, or.. someone.. the wrong way, and.. Crunch. Just like that."
Elias may not be comfortable, but if this man wanted to know, then why spare him the bloody details he never got to speak of before?
Sheesh.. I guess the old man being a dickhead is a constant between my game and his.

"..You can drop your stupid welcome script. I've heard it more than enough times."
He crosses his arms with a frown. His dislike of the current conversation becoming very apparent as he subtly steps backwards once more, putting more distance between him and the Professor. Still, though.. He seemed to be avoiding eye contact.
Perhaps this all felt too familiar to him. Even this Oak's demeanor.. It was too similar. Too unsafe.
Sheesh.. I guess the old man being a dickhead is a constant between my game and his.

That demeanor..
The redhead backed up immediately, as if on instinct. Probably the first person to be able to call him by name.. But it didn't help that this man shared the face of the one - no, the thing that caused him the worst torture imaginable for so long. Stripping him of his memories, his sense of self, his wants.. All to follow a script that never allowed him to win.
..But if this version of Oak were normal, how did he know all this? Blue didn't know him.. So.. How did he..?
The furrow in Silver's brow seemed to let out the tiniest shred of- No. Not fear. Discomfort. Beneath his outwardly threatening stare.
"I'm not here for a welcome, you senile freak," he snaps back, "How do you know all this about me if your grandkid didn't..?"
Sheesh.. I guess the old man being a dickhead is a constant between my game and his.
