Sarah sighed softly before shaking her head. “I honestly don’t think so. It’s finding someone that’s open minded enough to understand. That can be hard, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.” She gently patted his leg, smiling at him. “You will find someone, Stevie. And somehow I’ll find someone too. Because I honestly can’t do worse than your father, so that’s a plus.”
Steve snorted at that and ducked his head, giving it a little shake before lifting his mug for another sip of the hot cocoa. It was just like old times, only he was much bigger now, and the world had changed beyond measure. But God, was he glad his mother was around. What would he do without her? How would he survive this world?
He glanced sideways at her, a small frown playing on his lips at her answer to his query. “Well, I-” He hummed quietly and took another sip. “That’s the thing, isn’t it? The only people who know what it was like for us… well, we can’t marry them, can we?” His thoughts drifted to Peggy and his heart ached. “And we can’t just- find someone else, someone young. They don’t understand. They couldn’t.” So they were doomed to be alone. And even though they had one another, it was still a lonely life to lead.

He can’t help grinning at the name, looking down and helping to gather the groceries. “ Naw that’s okay – you don’t have to do that, ” he says, again thinking about she already does enough for him, and for her family. She doesn’t need to add anything else to that ever growing list. He hastily tucks the extra material of his shirt into his pants, trying to make himself look a little more presentable. He’ll get it fixed as soon as he can, or even fix it himself if he can, he’s gotten a little better with a needle, due to his own mother’s instruction, and he thinks he can handle it.
“You know it’s no trouble if you want me to.” She gently urged, putting the few items in the refrigerator before she set out what she needed to for dinner that evening. “Do you have any idea what Stevie’s up to? I thought he was supposed to be home before I got here.”

“I’m not that graceful, ma. I’m sure it would’ve been just as ugly a fall for me as it was for you. But we should file some sort of complaint. I’ve tried to talk to him in the past but he just brushes me off. Maybe if we talk to the city they might force his hand. Or I could ask Stark to look into things. He’s got the connections that might force his hand even more. Either way it is going to get fixed. Do you need me to get you anything?”
“Oh, that would be kind of hilarious. Imagine the headlines that would come from that. “Captain America’s Mother Injured by Negligent Landlord”. It would be impossible for me to get anyone to rent to me ever again. Actually I would really love a cup of tea.”

Sarah shook her head, tucking in against Steve before she settled into the recliner that he lead her to. “Oh really now? This will be something I have to see.” She teased as she turned the chair where she could watch him. “Though, the fact that you’re making me dinner is a welcomed sight. I’ve had far too many frozen or takeout meals lately.”
He didn’t look back at her as he began to pull all of the ingredients he’d need, but he still laughed at her teasing. “I’m a changed man now, in the ways of cooking at least,” he said, a grin crossing his face. It dipped slightly at her mention of too many frozen and takeout meals. “Ma, whenever you want me to come over and make dinner or something like that, just call me,” he told her, turning around. “You deserve more than frozen and takeout dinners.”
“Oh, I don’t doubt that you’ve changed in more ways than just cooking. And that’s not a bad thing. We all have to change and grow.” She reclined a she watched him work, enjoying the fact that she was being spoiled by her son. “Stevie, I just haven’t had the time for a cooked meal. Going to school for nursing is a lot harder nowadays.”
"Happy Mothers' Day, Ma," Steve said, pulling his mother in for a hug. //yay, interactions!!
Sarah smiled warmly and hugged Steve tight, tucking her head against his shoulder. “Thank you so much sweetie. Oh, it’s been so long since I celebrated this day!”

[sms: mama] i keep trying to do that. i keep reminding him he’s not to blame for all of that. it’s like talking to a brick wall [sms: mama] was that what it was like dealing with me? [sms: mama] i think he’s afraid of meeting you. i brought up having you over to the tower for dinner and he just had a panicked look on his face [sms: mama] we still haven’t set a date yet but you’ll be the first one i tell when we finally do
{sms; Baby Boy}: I wasn’t going to say that myself, but you are very stubborn, Stevie. {sms; Baby Boy}: Should we make it a surprise meeting then? I really want to meet him before he becomes my son-in-law. {sms; Baby Boy}: Oh, I hope so. I would love to help with the planning if you need a hand.

Tony smiled softly, it was weird to think how easily he could just be himself around Sarah. He never really had been great about dropping his guards and just letting himself relax, but with Sarah it was just as easy as breathing. He kept her nice and close, humming softly.
“There is a lot to catch up on.” He hummed kissing at her jaw some more. “My day was fine, working on coding and wiring.”
Sarah ran her fingers through Tony’s hair slowly and gently, her eyes closing as she enjoyed the kisses along her jawline. He was warm and comfortable and she just felt safe with him. Somedays feeling safe wasn’t always possible in the world she’d returned to.
“Mmhmm. It still amazes me that tuberculosis is treatable.” Of course, it was part of what killed her before, so the amazement should be understandable. “Oooh, just a long day of being a genius?”

Sarah didn’t question when her son needed her to come over to help patch him up. He’d gotten in the bad habit of just calling her over instead of going to medical. It worried her, but she wouldn’t complain too much as long as he didn’t need any serious help. It was nice she was only down the hall so it was’t a long trek.
She started setting up everything on the coffee table before she noticed that there was someone sitting on the couch next to Steve. When she finally looked up and saw James, she dropped everything. “Jimmy?” She gasped, scrabling over and looking him over. “Oh my god, how? No, not, you’re bleeding.” She turned back, snagging the supplies to stop the bleeding.
A Mother’s Touch

James was stretched out on the too small couch in Steve’s living room. Well..it was his living room now. Something he was still getting used to. It had been a few weeks since he’d come to live with the other man and since then, he hadn’t seen anyone but Steve.
Steve had been afraid that too many people would be too much stress for Bucky. Bucky was afraid he’d hurt someone.
Today though, was different. Bucky had gone for a run and ran into a former HYDRA agent. The HYDRA agent had been killed, but Bucky wasn’t without injury. The only person Steve trusted enough to be near his best friend, was his mom.
Bucky held a cloth to his bleeding torso, insisting that he was fine. Steve made the call anyway and now they sat waiting.

Sarah was mildly concerned with the expression on Steve’s face. It was like he was seeing a ghost, but the expression on his face was much worse than what she would have expected. She gripped her hip as she tried to stem the blood flow. “I’ve got through and throughs on my hip and thigh. I don’t know how fast I’ll be, but I can at least move. Lead the way, Captain, I’ll limp the best I can.”
He’d thought he was seeing things, he’d thought that maybe it was some sort of hallucination. His mother was dead, had died when he was a kid, and had been buried. He’d gone to her funeral, after all. It wasn’t a thing he was going to forget. Not when Bucky had told him they’d be there for each other till the end of the line. Except there she was, standing at his side wounded. “Steve Rogers,” he said, the look of surprise clearly etched onto his features. This was definitely his ma. It wasn’t something he’d easily forget. But she hadn’t recognised him. And for now he had to play along. “Are you okay? We can’t stay here for long. We need to get somewhere safe and out of the line of fire.”

“Are you really questioning your mother?” She asked rather firmly, hands on her hips. “Besides, aren’t you the man that jumps out of airplanes without a parachute? I would have thought you of all people wouldn’t be afraid of a handful of candles.” So, she was picking at him, she couldn’t help it. Once he blew them all out, she cheered, nudging him before she took to removing the candles.
“See, that relatively you tacked on the end there isn’t doing much for my confidence in this situation,” Steve teased her with a smirk. “Cop out, safety precaution… Depends on what you want to call it, I guess.” He squinted apprehensively before taking a deep breath and blowing out the candles. Luckily, nothing appeared to have caught aflame.

Anyone want to rp?
I seriously want to get more stuff going on here because I tend to neglect Sarah since she doesn’t have much interest. And I don’t want to just rp with Steves either! Variety is the spice of life here.

{sms; Baby Boy}: Poor love. He needs to have someone put things in perspective for him. {sms; Baby Boy}: You know I’m always here for you, and Tony too if he needs. {sms; Baby Boy}: Of course! I have to be there when my son gets married.
[sms: mama] he puts on a very good public face but behind closed doors i know he still blames himself for it [sms: mama] i think i just might. he tends to forget that i still love him no matter what stupid thing he does. we’ve been through worse and he forgets that i think [sms: mama] no, it’s perfect advice. i’ve missed having it and you actually. [sms: mama] i want you to be there when we finally get married
