James Dean plays with Sanford Roth's Siamese cat Louis XIV in a photo shot by Roth in early 1955, and Dean holding his Siamese kitten "Marcus" in September of 1955 (also photographed by Roth). Marcus was given to Jimmy by his close friend and co-star Elizabeth Taylor because she felt he was lonely and "needed someone to take care of", and Dean named the kitten after his young cousin Marcus Winslow who lived in his hometown of Fairmount, Indiana. Prior to embarking on his final, fatal journey shortly after the second photo was taken, Jimmy left Marcus with a friend to look after while he was away along with a carefully thought-out handwritten list of instructions for his care and feeding which included vitamins and a trip to the vets for his shots, as seen in the last photo.

It's been said so many times, but I want to also reiterate how good Charles Melton is in May December. He not only holds his own with Natalie Portman and Julianne Fucking Moore (who are doing some of the best work of their respective careers) he outshines them with some of the most subtle acting I've ever seen. It's his posture, the quiet tennor of his voice, the way he lights up in scenes with his kids. The damn never fully breaks, but when the cracks are apparent (the roof scene and the graduation scene in particular) you believe this man is still a boy.
