SHOW DAY 1 & 2
Its show day, we set up our house music using Brian's Rack, i helped to paste the posters at the cube entrance to direct the attendees.
We started the soundcheck with GYOZA (which i was part of). we also managed to have a look at DAD BOTS COLLECTIVE's set up and they explained to us what they were doing.
it was show time, i was part of the first act and went up to perform. the first day went smoothly but i had to leave early.
On the second day, i helped out with the camera/filming as Ahamed (ORRA) was up to perform. i filmed the first half under the direction of G, before handing back to Ahamed.
Reflection: I had fun preparing for my group's piece, it was my first time using Cardinal, a synth-rack VST, i still use the patch i made today. i learnt alot through the setting up and preparation for the show. Thanks to everyone, the whole show was fun and smooth with minimal hiccups along the way. We learnt from the previous year's experience when we were helping out the then Year 3s and managed to avoid possible problems and mistakes.

BUMP IN
In the morning, we met up and went to collect the equipments to bring up to the CUBE for set up. We had a list the team prepared and filled them into flight cases.
Upon Arrival at the CUBE, we split the work up, i was helping to set up the NEVO for the FOH to be on. we carried and adjust the height of the NEVO, then installed the barriers for safety, we then started to bring up the consoles, Mac and other FOH equipments, including the cameras and lighting.
After that we went to help out with the team doing the stage layout and cabling. We also did a short soundcheck for GYOZA.
Reflection: Bump In day was very smooth thanks to the Team's great planning and teamwork, we managed to finish ahead of schedule.

9 grid lineup posts
These are the artist line up designs, we decided to post each night's acts one week before their show, so the first acts (Gyoza, George Chua, Dirk Stromberg&Brian O'Reilly&Yong Yansen and Dad Bots Collective) were posted on the thursday, before their show next week, along with the logo. The next four acts ( Antiwira, ORRA, MingzxcXPandamachine and Andy Chia&Natalie Tse&Christoven Tan) were posted the next day.
The first interations of the line up posts did not have the "cut up globe" at first, i decided on it since when i tried simulate the 9 grid posts, having a globe in each posts were not looking very good
Reflections: I went through quite a few amendments, trials before getting the end results. i also made a typo on one of the artist's names in the poster and had to decide to take it down or not, but due to the engagement, i decided to correct it and quickly post the next posts instead. I had to make some last min changes to the artist pictures as well.

2nd post
My idea for the second post were to again, use the previous year's media resources. I wanted to use short clips of each act/artist aand compile them in one frame, letting their sounds overlap and loop over each other. To achieve that, i had to scroll through 3 nights worth of videos and choose the clips i want, after choosing, i cropped and framed them.
i also added the logo at the end of the clip
This is the results:
instagram
At the same time, Elliot passed me a link to a google form for me to add to the instagram bio for us to collate attendance.
Reflections: While going through and choosing the clips was quite a hassle, i think the end product was worth the time.

Choppa Logo + 3rd Post
First was to make a logo for Choppa, i imported the font png. file from finalcut pro into Canva. As i was thinking of what to design for the background, i remembered a lesson Brian gave us on a software called Argeïphontes Lyre. so i opened the software and used the L'attraction etrange image tool to generate the background.
i adjusted the parameters and tried to generate a background i think fits with the theme, it took me awhile to get it. After that i took it into photoshop to crop out the circular shape.
this was the first iteration of the logo, the background was a lot cleaner than the font i exported from final cut so i brought it it into finalcut a added the same filters and effects to it and exported the frame.
these were the next iterations..
After completing the draft for the poster, i showed it to the team to see if there anything they want to add or remove, after that, the poster was finalized.
As the previous year's post were in a 9 grid format, to align it we needed another 2 posts before we could add out 9 grid posts (suggested by Gladys) as well.
we decided on having the poster as one the thirdpost, my next step was to make another post for the alignment.
Reflections: Getting the team to look at the posts, helps me to get another fresh perspective, and point out any missed details.

1st Post
Since the artist line up is not out yet, i begin looking through pass year's photos to make a collage/video of for early marketing. With an idea in my head, i went to search on youtube
i stacked a bunch of photos and repasted them so that i could fit the video length when i slowly sped it up to create like a marvel-like intro
as i was learning and making the video, i also chose the colour scheme, i naturally went with blue for some reason, and while playing with the different effects and fonts i went with a retro-game vibe which will continue on through the rest of the posts. i then showed it to the team for feedback, and after some iterations the video was ready to be posted.
plays within an hr.
Reflections:
As i was quite new at video editing, getting around the software was a somewhat confusing and i kept needing to search up how to use the software. but as i got used it, i began to be able to concentrate more on the ideation/creative side rather than the technical aspect of it.

CHOPPA 2023
15/08/23- Had our first production meeting/ briefing and decided on our roles after
CHOPPA roles:
Project manager - Elliott
Sound engineer - Waiqi
Assistant sound engineer - Gladys
Artist liaison - Zasha
Stage manager - Shreya
Video in charge - G
Social media - Yong En
My role was to handle the social media/promotion of the festival, my first thought and idea was to post something on social media to let people know that choppa is happening and to somewhat create tension. i logged in to Choppa's instagram accountand looked at what the previous year did. After that, i went back to search for past years photos and decided to make a collage slideshow-type of video to promote this year's Choppa.
