Continue the story: The Devil Judge/Gahan edition

Fellow fandom folks,

We're doing a collaborative fic on A03 for The Devil Judge and Yohan/Gaon and we'd love for you to join. Here's how it works: each person writes one chapter of the story based on a topic we all voted on. You can write whatever you want in your chapter as long as it connects to chapters before it. This is a nice way to close out the third rewatch, get your creative writing juices flowing in a low-stress place, try your hand at writing if you're new, and importantly, celebrate jinyoung's impending return from the military on November 4th!! If 8 people or more join, we'll be writing until then!

Vote here: Answer this poll to vote on what our story will be about. Feel free to suggest other ideas. The topic with the most votes will get selected.

Writing logistics: After everyone signs up, I’ll put our names in a random generator to pick the order of writers.

How it works:

Publishing: You’ll have 1 week to read what’s been written so far and write your chapter. Chapters are due by Thursdays at 9 AM KST. I'll post a schedule.

Word count: Minimum of 2 sentences and not more than 500 words. This is a loose word count specifically to keep it chill. Don’t stress about making your chapter perfect. The idea is to have fun, go with the flow, and write whatever comes to you!

Posting on ao3: We’ll post the fic as one story with multiple authors. I’ll help you out when it’s your turn to add your chapter.

Keeping in touch: We can use a Tumblr post to brainstorm ideas and talk story stuff, or, if enough people are interested, I can set up a discord to chat

The goal is to have a good time and see where everyone’s creativity takes them.

Why? - The Summary (Part One)

As this being the last week of our re-watch for TDJ 3rd Anniversary, I thought I will bring up a post I put up a while back.

Written a little fic to celebrate TDJ 3rd Anniversary. It is supposed to be for Week One, Yohan x Gaon pairing. But took quite awhile to get it done. 😅

I love you Yohan x Gaon. And I wish I have more time to do stuff to celebrate TDJ 3rd anniversary, but life, it just keeps getting in the way.

U have no idea how much I think of u two and all sorts of antics I imagine u to be up to. From kinky ideas like playing striptease poker with basketball to delayed gratification in the bedroom.

Fluffy nights sitting together - be it out under the stars or snuggled on the sofa. No need for words nor conversations - just enjoying the moment together without thoughts of pain or revenge and lost loved ones, Or what to make for breakfast cause Elijah, her tastebuds is as picky as Gordan Ramesy after all the good food she had been fed with.

I wish wish that I have the time and energy to dive into each and come up with a fic. Better still, turn back time and watch TDJ with all the flutter in my heart and all the 'wow' and excitement stirring my blood.

I miss u Yohan x Gaon. And thank you this fandom for keeping it going so that I have stuff to see, to read, to admire. It just makes daily living that much easier, especially with the shit that sometimes get thrown at u.

Everytime I meet my friends, they will be surprised that the TDJ fandom has lasted so long. And to think it is able to do so with just one season, 16 episodes, and nothing more after that.

They will ask me why? And I thought that I will pass the question on to the rest of you.

Why?

We are still here even though the drama finished airing after 2021. And I still see fics being written on AO3 as well.

It always makes me smile.

Such a confident Yohan - always cool, always with a plan up his sleeve - looking confused. And all because Elijah had called, demanding that he come home for dinner.

Cute!

And even cuter when he became like this.

Such warmth, such softness in his smile.

And I don't care if humanity falls, so long as Yohan got to stay that way.

Unboxing Yohan x Gaon Part Two

Continuing from Part One which can be found here.

Here we have the Gaon keychain which has the same finishing as the Yohan keychain. The front is shiny because of the acrylic, and it has glitter too which came out looking white because of my camera.

It comes with a tiny bell and star-shaped keychain clasp. And here's the back - matte just like the Yohan one.

Next, let's admire the two keychains together.

Left is the front and Right is the back.

And onward to the one I treasured the most. The standee! Only one that I have seen anyone selling so far. My previous buy from @thedeviljudge was a keychain too.

Love how they seem to light up due to the subtle light coming through the standee.

I love them so so much and I can't thank @blueatelier enough for willing to share her artwork in such a manner. Can't wait to display them once my new cabinet is up.

Unboxing Yohan x Gaon Part One

Finally got the bundle set of Gahan keychains and standee that @blueatelier had drawn and made for sale sometime in Nov 2023. (Thanks so much @blueatelier !!!!)

And I thought I will do an unboxing.

The parcel came in looking like this.

And opening it.

So exciting as I pulled the string and opened the lid of the box.

Love the sticker and after peeling it and opening up the brown paper.

Ta-da!!!! All these yummies inside! 😍😍😍

The postcard and two stickers, they were freebies for puchasing the bundle.

And then the keychains!

Introducing the Yohan keychain. The front is shiny as it is encased in acrylic with glitter in it. And it comes with a tiny little bell and a star-shaped keychain clasp.

Here's the back which is more matte as it is not encased in acrylic.

WIP Tag

Rules: post the names of all the files in your WIP folder regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous.  Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them and then post a little snippet of it or tell them something about it! And then tag as many people as you have wips.

@clawbehavior , thanks for tagging me! Took a while cause I'm basically a one-track mind. I work on one fic at a time and can't multi-task cause will lose the feel for the story. So when this tag came along, I had to go through my files to remember what I've done but not finished.

So first off WIPs for The Devil Judge

A Dare and a Twist of Fate.

Been working on this the whole of 2023 and everytime I thought I'm near to finishing, the story kept growing.

It started out purely as wanting to write a smut piece with dom and sub hints and always with Yohan having supernatural powers to do smutty stuff to Gaon. And inspired by this photo that I doctored. Took them from two separate photos and merged them into one.

Here are the originals that I took from.

I was nearing to finishing this fic when I got distracted by others that I want to write And when I came back to it in Nov 2023, I ended up re-writing a major portion, hence the delay.

First Anniversary

I wrote this 2 years ago. And its more my take on why Yohan hadn't taken Gaon with him when he left for Switzerland. And with some conspiracy thrown in cause there would be those who refused to believe Yohan had died in the bombing - the government as well as those who seek revenge upon him, especially the children of those Yohan had killed in the bombing.

The title first anniversary, it was because the story started out on the first anniversary of Soohyun's death. And I used lots of flower meaning and language in the fic cause that was the only way Yohan could communicate with Gaon who was under the scrutiny of the police as well as anyone who wanted to find Yohan through Gaon.

Here's an excerpt.

Underneath the fluorescent lights, the three stalk of flowers looked even prettier with their blue petals and pale yellow centres. But there was no note, no card, no messages of any sort, sending doubt worming through Gaon's heart.

And it was only when the paper wrapping had been removed did Gaon see the tiny word written on each plastic tubes - the ones which the stalk had been individually inserted into so that the water inside could hydrate it.

Anemone, windflowers.

Their symbolism, it had Gaon's heart lurching cause Anemone meant protection from evil and from misfortunes. And the blue ones had the added meaning of complete trust in the receiver of the flowers.

Gaon, to think that he hadn't been forsaken despite what he had done to Yohan as well as Elijah. It had tears spilling, Gaon aching to have Yohan here right now so that he could crush him in his embrace.

The two would be reunited in the end and was 90% written before I got distracted again.

Red and Black.

Another incomplete fic I hadn't touch for more than a year. It's loosely based on Red Riding Hood. And inspired by these two pics.

I sort of got embarrassed with the latest chapter I've written and also the sudden loss of comments which had me doubting whether I've written the story right. So I didn't continue and although I still have an idea how it will end, I've lost some of the details as I hadn't touched it for so long.

Gahan AU - Dating Show

This fic is also an old one, and its based on the idea that Gaon, despite his degree in law, he had decided to give up being a judge so that he can become a 'train chaser'. Those fans of railway trains who will travel around to take photos of them.

And he worked part-time at a cafe with Jinjoo as his boss. And one day, the TV station had made a huge delivery order from the cafe. Hence, Gaon having to deliver them and being unwittingly dragged into becoming a participant for a new dating show. Cause one of the male participants hadn't shown up, and they were short of one.

Here's an excerpt.

Gaon had never in his life had three women fighting to undress him. Face growing darker by the minute as he fought to keep his demin jacket on. And head jerking away from the pony-tailed woman who kept pushing his fringe up, tsking at how it was hiding the beauty of his face.

And just when Gaon thought he had to punch one of them in order to get away. Someone else had waded in, joining in the fray.

A man, much much older than him, sliding his palms down his chest and goosebumps prickling Gaon's skin. Then gripping his shoulders and smiling a smile that had Gaon shrinking from the threat that was simmering within.

"You either come along with me or get very naked right now."

That older man was of course Yohan, producer of the new dating show. And who had Gaon re-made - from a nerd to quite an attractive catch. But Gaon wasn't someone who would obey meekly. Plotting to ruin his chances of staying on the show by acting all crude and rough and callous.

This one has no title cause it lives rent-free in my head.

Inspired by an old K-drama called, Are You Human? And in the drama there was a very human-like robot that had been built, and the female lead falling in love with it.

So I have this image of Yohan being an AI butler, as real as any humans out there. And in a dystobian Korean society, every judge is assigned an AI butler to attend to their needs and see to their mental and physical well-being.

It is purely smut and explicit with Gaon coming home one night pissed and stressed out with the shit he had to deal in court. And Yohan AI butler trying to relieve his stress, using sex as a means to do so based on what Google had told him was the best way to do so.

So these are the WIPs I haven't finish. ☺️

The only reason why they had ended up noticing each other, it was the colours that they had worn. Both in brown jackets - a stark contrast to the black and white the men in the room were wearing. And totally not in sync with the formal black-tie event they were attending.

Why had they shown up like this? It was because each of them had been forced by their own superiors to show up at what they disliked the most. Functions where they had to mingle with people they didn't know and weren't interested in knowing. And having to fake-smile and make meaningless small talk to most who didn't even understand the field of studies they were in. Not to mention that the food they provided, it could barely make your stomach full. Nor the overload of perfumes and cloying scents that make it hard to breathe.

Yohan and Gaon, they would much rather be back home, doing that which brought them the greatest joy.

The former curled up on his sofa, reading and with his pet cat snuggled against him. And the later, digging and watering and fertilising. Taking care of his various assorted plants which were crowding his balcony.

Unfortunately, the two of them had avoided attending such events way too many times. And with the year ending, their respective superiors had put their foot down. Leaving them with no choice but to turn up at the year-end party their university was hosting. The typical 'let's usher in the new year' with lots of drinking and merry-making. And which was their way of thanking their patrons and sponsors for their generous donations which had kept the university going.

But that didn't mean Yohan and Gaon couldn't show their displeasure by disobeying the dress code. Choosing the same colour brown cause both, by sheer coincidence, had the same thought while dressing up.

As brown as poop and like the party pooper they were going to be. Cause they had no intention of showing the slightest enjoyment while they were there. And in fact, had planned to hole up at the most desolate corner they could find till it was appropriate to exit the party.

But their choice of dressing, it had the two of them noticing each other instead. Exchanging secretive smiles which showed they understood the hidden meaning behind their appearance. And the two talking to each other, not noticing the passage of time until the MC was yelling for the countdown to begin.

Gaon, who hadn't been so immersed in someone for so long. And who didn't want the connection he felt for Yohan to end just like that.

He had boldly asked, "Hungry for some ramyeon?"

Staring into Yohan's widened eyes and seeing that spark of interest which had his heart beating so so fast.

Yohan leaning in just as the MC yelled out '1'. Everyone shouting and screaming, all esctatic as the confetti came raining down in shades of gold and pink and glitter. And the noise level reaching a deafening crescendo as they ushered in the new year.

Yohan so close that he was a hair's breath from kissing Gaon.

"My place, then," his low baritone sending shivers down Gaon's spine, "Cause it's nearer."

And Yohan sliding his hand down Gaon's forearm to grab his fingers. Dragging him up and the two slipping out, unnoticed, to spend the first day of the new year together.
