The final debate
CLINTON: Well, that’s because he’d rather have a puppet as president of the United States. TRUMP: No puppet. No puppet. CLINTON: And it’s pretty clear… TRUMP: You’re the puppet! CLINTON: It’s pretty clear you won’t admit… TRUMP: No, you’re the puppet. CLINTON: … that the Russians have engaged in cyberattacks against the United States of America, that you encouraged espionage against our people, that you are willing to spout the Putin line, sign up for his wish list, break up NATO, do whatever he wants to do, and that you continue to get help from him, because he has a very clear favorite in this race. So I think that this is such an unprecedented situation. We’ve never had a foreign government trying to interfere in our election. We have 17 — 17 intelligence agencies, civilian and military, who have all concluded that these espionage attacks, these cyberattacks, come from the highest levels of the Kremlin and they are designed to influence our election. I find that deeply disturbing. WALLACE: Secretary Clinton… CLINTON: And I think it’s time you take a stand… TRUMP: She has no idea whether it’s Russia, China, or anybody else. CLINTON: I am not quoting myself. TRUMP: She has no idea. CLINTON: I am quoting 17… TRUMP: Hillary, you have no idea. CLINTON: … 17 intelligence — do you doubt 17 military and civilian… TRUMP: And our country has no idea. CLINTON: … agencies. TRUMP: Yeah, I doubt it. I doubt it. CLINTON: Well, he’d rather believe Vladimir Putin than the military and civilian intelligence professionals who are sworn to protect us. I find that just absolutely… (CROSSTALK) TRUMP: She doesn’t like Putin because Putin has outsmarted her at every step of the way.

Through the ages, purple has always been associated with royalty, nobility, prestige, mystery, magic, power and luxury. Purple is often used to portray rich powerful kings, leaders, magicians and even sorcerers. The colour purple relates to the world of imagination and the need to escape the practical and everyday life. It’s the daydreamers escape from reality, it assists those seeking the meaning of life and spiritual fulfilment. (x)

Kinda tired of being told to do more when half my students cant be bothered to do anything. When do we stop piling all this responsibility on teachers and start expecting something from the students? Why do you keep telling me to be more “engaging” (aka the new hot education buzzword) when all of my students who are ever going to do anything are already doing it? Those kids with 12s in my class, who sit in the back and play on their phones, arent going to do anything no matter how engaging I bust my ass to make it. I’m not putting in any more effort unless it will actually bring results. I don’t get paid enough to work as hard as i do, i’m definitely not doing any more.
I’m already giving the vending machine $5 for a 50 cent soda. Quit asking me to waste my time shoving $10 in when it won’t change what I get out.

I know it’s a polarizing issue for many, and some of you wouldn’t believe it, but Mexico has a great undocumented immigration issue. Most are from Latin America, and some are from the US and Canada too. The latest are usually outlaws. Some of them aren’t dangerous people, they just escaped weird situations which of course I can’t understand. Many missionaries of many different religions come here and overstay their permit in the name of their mission. I’ve met a good few from Venezuela and Colombia, working in the streets. Because of our laws they can get permits to work (FM2) but most of them don’t have a college degree (a basic requirement here) or they can do what we call “trabajo informal” which is basically anything under 6 hours that requires no legal documentation (this is, for instance, what people, documented or not, do when they do house work). I’ve paid for some of their food because I was given a lot. I’ve talked to some. Some just came here for safety and some came here for a better chance. Now if you don’t believe me, check for yourself our wealth where I live. Google San Pedro Garza Garcia, Nuevo Leon. That Dos Equis beer and that Tecate and that “Mexican Coke”? All from Monterrey. Google ITESM and UANL. The Walmart and HEB (hello Texas) that sell the most? Here. Walmart started the whole supercenter thing because of us. It’s a great place.
And I’ve never met anyone who hates on them. I’ve never met anyone who asks to get them deported. I have, instead, seen everyone trying to help. Give them a simple task and pay them (which in our country is legal). Doctors never asking for any ID (big expensive fancy private hospitals are a different story). Maybe it’s in our blood. Maybe it’s our culture and our development as such. Maybe it is that we’ve never felt better than anyone else (although we joke a lot about it). But we care about people being well. We want to be kind and we want kindness in return.
I don’t know what undocumented immigrants go through. Never been one. Born and raised in privilege. And the privilege of being taught to help whoever is in need even if it costs me. Even if it hurts me. Let the authorities do their job. Let us do our thing.
I have no idea what it is to be taken to another country as a child. I have no idea what it is to flee as a kid from war. I have no idea what goes through their hearts and minds.
But I don’t have to know. I have to know that the promise of the great day of the Lord was fulfilled in the cross. I have to know that I am called to an eternal hope. And that it starts here on Earth.
And I have to challenge myself and my views.
Not gonna suggest you do the same. Just using the privilege I was given to challenge myself and see those who I don’t know, I don’t understand, and lack what I don’t as equals to me, before the law, before God, and before all of you as my witnesses.
Because, I don’t know about you, but I am loved. And I am free to love.

Ok so teaching is HARD. I haven’t posted in a while and this year was ROUGH. But shit I’ve been doing this 6 years and now that kids know me at my current school (I’ve been here 2 years), they respect me a hell of a lot more than other teachers. Because I respect them. Shit I laugh when they say funny shit and maybe I shouldn’t always but sometimes you can’t help it you know?
And my goal is to make these middle school kids good human beings, you know? Middle school is hard. And the kids are so funny, and so ridiculous.
I mean, right before Christmas break a kid entered my classroom like, “WHAT’S UP FUCKERS?!” Sometimes you just have to laugh. And remember these kids are 12. I love my job, no matter how ridiculous these kids are sometimes.

“I’m failing this class because the teacher can’t teach.”
Okay… what are you doing to help yourself? You literally just admitted that your teacher isn’t doing enough to prepare you. And that’s it? You’re going to consign yourself to relying on somebody to do something that you just said can’t do it? And that’s good enough for you? You have a magic pocket-sized google machine, plus a much larger school-issued google machine already pre-loaded with all of the programs and apps you will need. That doesn’t sound like somebody who’s failing because of their teacher, it sounds like somebody who can’t be bothered to put any personal effort into passing.
Learning isn’t about passively sitting by and expecting to understand, it’s about actively trying to understand. I can guarantee you, no matter how good or bad your teacher might be, they are doing what they can to the best of their ability with the resources they’ve been given. Are you?
