A thrilling journey as these seemingly incompatible people realize they are meant to be together.
I'm sure this author's novels are worth reading no matter how long they are, but this one might be just the right length to read on a tired weekend 💕
Map to My Own Treasure
Chapter IV

“If you tell me about it will that get you to shut up about it for the rest of the trip?”
“Yes.” Luke grins, sitting up properly and turning to face him.
Mando huffs and raises a brow.
“Ok. So. A Millenia ago, there was an order of men and women dedicated to the Force-”
Mando scoffs.
“You’re telling me that temple was dedicated to a physics concept? What, were they all mathematicians or something?”
“No, no.” Luke says, “-not force. The Force.”
“What.”
“The Force! It's…” Luke trails off, flashing back to when Ben explained this to him, in what seems like an eon ago now. He pushes down the melancholic ache.
“-an energy field created by all living things; it binds the galaxy together-”
“An energy field?” Mando repeats, flatly, “-so you mean they believed there was this… energy field, not that there actually is.”
Luke scoffs.
“Very rude of you to summarily dismiss an entire belief system, Mando.”
“You can't believe a magic-” Mando waggles the fingers of one of his hands in the air, “-whatever actually exists, can you?”
“Why not?” Luke asks.
Mando closes his eyes briefly.
“Nevermind. Is that it? It's just a… non-existent Force machine? And you wonder why I don't give a shit.”
“Well, I mean.” Luke says, jaw clenching, extremely annoyed. Yes, that's technically correct. What they're looking for is a Force machine.
“-yes. I guess. Don't you want to know what it does?”
“Nope.” Mando says.
“That's fine.” Luke says, trying to be unbothered, “-since we don't actually know what it does anyway.”

Map to My Own Treasure
Chapter III

Luke enters into the dark chamber to the sound of the astounded murmurings of Hess and co. Well, mostly astounded.
“Oh sure.” He hears Roy say, behind him, “- just walk straight into the dank dark cave without even looking inside first. How is he still alive?”
“Wish I knew.” Hess replies.
Luke hums to himself as he ignores the peanut gallery and blinks as he takes in the circular room, once his eyes have adjusted.
It’s also illuminated by the strange red light, and a short stone column stands right in the center of the room, while some misshapen pillars rise up out of the floor in even distances around it. The same root-esque carvings from the cliff face and the hallway wind their way around the pillars and stone column, though the lines look to be broken.
It’s otherwise blank. No symbols, no objects, nothing.
“This is it?” Another rent-a-goon asks, “-what Krennic was fucking going on about?”
Luke walks up to the centre column and brushes some dust off with his hand.
His fingers catch on another keyhole.

Map to My Own Treasure
Chapter II

He stands and dusts himself off, pleased, and flicks on the flashlight clipped to his shoulder holster as he takes stock of his surroundings.
He pulls out the book, but it’s unnecessary, as all the roots lead to the centre of the ledge.
Luke wipes the dust off the console carved into the rock; and his heart jumps into his throat; as he sees the symbol of the Force carved right in the centre.

@wizardpink asked: Would you do 13 but include grogu?
Sure! I might have come off as some kind of Grogu eraser but I assure you, I love him very much <3 Here's prompt "falling asleep" from the cuddle prompt list I have reblogged earlier!

Map to My Own Treasure

“-why am I here?”
“Keep flipping.”
Luke turns another page of the old book.
“That’s Aurebesh. If you didn’t have a habit of killing everyone who can read it, you wouldn’t need me.”
“Now, Luke. Most of those deaths were accidental. And I’d rather have you working with us than against us.”
“Got a key? You wouldn’t let on to me that you had this if not.”
Krennic grins, and pulls a pendant out of his shirt. The blue crystal glints in the low light.
Luke whistles.
“Can I see?”
“No funny business”
“Who? Me?”
Luke picks up a loupe and holds the crystal up to the lens.
Aurebesh glimmers inside the facets.
Krennic leans over the table.
“So. You in?”

How long did they spend together?

Though perhaps not as hard as Din's, parting with Grogu must have been hard on Luke ?😭
