Marginalization of mainstream media to issues affecting the interests of Omani society and an example of these issues.

The problems and issues affecting societies in this era are very many, especially those that affect development in all its fields.
Worse still, the traditional media do not trade these problems with the aim of finding solutions and addressing them .
Through my use of the means of social communication I noticed many problems and issues that people are talking about and especially about the issue of education and its problems in the Sultanate and there is no one to talk about in the media platforms such as television and the press.
I do not deny the government's efforts in building and spreading schools throughout the Sultanate, but the issue is about the quality of education and the quality of those who carry out this great profession in terms of noting the use of traditional and purely educational methods to keep pace with the development of this era and its aspirations.
Where the student comes out of school to the home with a pile of homework and do not develop in his personality anything.
In addition to the lack of many facilities in some schools, such as scientific laboratories and other necessary equipment and some schools suffer from a shortage of teachers and find one teacher who teaches more than one subject may not be related to any specialty.
This issue has been suffering for some time, but unfortunately I do not see any initiative from the TV and Radio Sultanate of Oman to discuss this issue and propose solutions.
And may lead to a major problem in the future if the problem is not resolved from the roots and on time.

Analysis of Twitter Usage by Message Types, Devices, and Sources
By: Saqer AL-Suleimani 113087

Modern technology has transformed traditional communication into a revolution of interaction and connectivity among consumers around the world. Since the inception of Twitter in 2006, it continues to lead the social media in terms of speed of dissemination and popularity as the number of its users in 2017 reached 313 million users.
Furthermore, Twitter users represent 23% of the world's Internet users and the average number of tweets per day is rising. The theory of uses in the media assumes that different people can use the same medium for different purposes . The essence of this theory lies in the behavior of the public in communication, which determines their desire to choose certain means based on their needs.
Through studies in 2013 86% of marketers believe that social media is an important channel for their marketing , and about 93% of consumers assert that the company should have an attendance in social media and 85% of them believe that the company should seek active interactions with consumers, by the way, total ad spend on social media increased by 56.2% from US $ 11.36 billion.
The study aims to understand consumers and how they use Twitter to make it easier for marketers and advertisers to understand their behavior, leading to ads that are related to their behavior. To find out how powerful these media are, you can ask questions like how people send their messages? Which social program are they using? Does rapid technological development provide many choices for people?
Study questions:
· What types of messages are mostly exchanged on Twitter? How much do people interact with a Twitter conversation?
· How can Twitter users post tweets ? What types of devices and platforms do they prefer?
· How widely are Twitter-based commercials widespread compared to those from individual consumers?
· How different are these tweets in terms of devices types?
This study used data mining techniques to collect and distribute huge amounts of exchanged tweets, such as looking for the frequency and amount of posting, types of tweets, and devices used to publish tweets, the nature of tweets wheatear for a brand or business.
One example of the use of social media in marketing is what “Doritos” has done over the last 10 years in the compotation of commercials for Super Bowl games.
This study analyzed two sets of data: "general data" and "sample data". The "general data" included all the tweets exchanged during the study period, while the "sample data" included the Super Bowl brand tweets.
The study period was three weeks in 2012, 2013 and 2014. One week and two weeks after the Super Bowl (29 January 2012 to 19 February 2012; 27 January 2013 to 17 February 2013; 26 January 2014 to 16 February 2014). This study period was selected to include all related tweets because marketers re-leased their ads on social media sites like YouTube before the game was actually broadcast.
Results & outcomes
“General Data” of 5,345,607 tweets.
- 35,187 tweets in 2012
- 34,350 in 2013
- 3,655 in 2014
…………………………………….
1- what types of messages were mostly exchanged on Twitter?
Over th past three years from 2012 to 2014?( Singleton is the most popular message type (accounting for 37-42%).
2- The second research question intended to find tweeting methods, how users post tweets and the device?
- preferred mobile devices (1,218,594 tweets, 65.9%)
- desktop computers (629,160 tweets, 34.1%)
As they tweeted general messages. Even if there are more sources for Twitter
- posting on desktop computers (469 sources, 78.2%)
- mobile devices (131 sources, 21.8%)
This means that the majority of people prefer the mobile device to post general tweets. When we examined the Super Bowl related.

The influences of populism in social media and society.
Written by: Saqer ALSuleimani

Number of words :350
The doors of celebrity have grown, and quick and easy keys have come to reach people. Youth talent is no longer a monopoly on traditional methods. They can create their own channels on YouTube, publish their views via Facebook, shorten them on Twitter, share what they see in " Instagram, "as well as conveying details of their personal lives through Snap Chat. Thus young people found access, communication, expression and celebrity through social media, and became stars in record time.
The social media opened doors for all people to appear and reach popularity and populism. But what raises my question. Are all social media influencer having a meaningful message?
Social media have become a part of people's lives, where they found a way to communicate, and a platform for exchange of views, which is fun for the person who is the accountant or follower, has achieved a lot of young people of fame and extravagance exceeded the stars of art and media celebrities, if measured by the number of followers and reactors, Hundreds of thousands and even millions, but few of them have a meaningful message to the community or address issues of concern to people.
Social media sites are fertile ground for influencing, but this may be negative through the publication of immoral content, for example. Where people see the lives of social media celebrities all the time, and know what they provide from the diary of social life and realism, including study and work, friendship and others, and this may also have a negative impact on the same publisher as a result of people know all the details of his life.
In fact, I cannot deny that some social media celebrities have a bad influence on followers. Social media is one of the most important stations where people stop today, and our youth accept any personality that is common in any field. They prefer the new and the strange, follow him and take him, become obsessed, have lost their personal identity, and are unaware of their customs and traditions of origin. In addition, they use their accounts for promotion and marketing by exploiting the number of their followers

Influencer's content analysis "Ahmed Murad ALbaloushi (instagram account @90.murad)
By : Saqer Alsuleimani
ID: 113087
Date: 23 October 2018
Number of words : 310
Recently we have noticed an increase in the number of social networking activists who call themselves influential, but in fact, those who carry a meaningful message are very few.
In this analysis, I chose Ahmed Murad Al Baloushi account in Instagram to talk about and take a quick overview at him, the content he publishes, the credibility, the volume and the relevance, as well as the number of followers if the content he publishes deserves this number of followers.
The credibility of the content published by Ahmed Murad is reflected in his presentation of the problems faced by the Omani society as soon as possible when it occurs, where he discusses in his account some problems and offers solutions in addition to taking the views of followers.
As for the volume and mental image of Ahmed, it is a bit good, because of the good impression of the public and followers, that refer to its relevance to issues of direct interest to the community as well as to shorten when talking and focus on the content only without prolongation.
The majority of followers in Ahmed's account are Omanis, and through observation I find that the Omani society prefers the person who gives the information directly and does not expose his personal life or talk about his personal problems. This is one of the reasons that keeps his followers on the increase. For any issue or issue and to use the method of courtesy and in my personal opinion people need to objectivity and serious debate in order to be able to provide solutions to problems, issues and crises.
Also, he does not use his account and followers for commercial and profit purposes such as advertising and marketing. This is considered positive for his benefit, as most of the activists of the websites use their accounts and followers for profitable purposes.

MacDonald’s S O W T analysis.
At the end of any business we must stand on the negatives and positives of this work by evaluating the results. Most major companies use feasibility studies as well as research and questionnaires to identify their strengths and weaknesses to be modified and developed to upgrade the company.
Use of social media
In social media settings McDonalds has created a lot of controversies; most of there campaigns didn’t work the way they expected. Social media can be an incredibly powerful and positive marketing tool but McDonald learn the hard way that it also has its risks.
· Twitter- McDonald joined twitter in 2009. They has more than 3 million followers in twitter. Its introduced a hashtag #McDstories. By including the McDonalds brand. The hashtag became a target for deluge of negative tweets.
· Facebook- McDonald has 78,589,047 followers in their page.
· Instagram – McDonald has 3.3 million followers and 501 posts. They have some interaction and activities with followers.
Use of Facebook in detail.
Strengths
· McDonalds is the second largest restaurant chain in the world with 36,899 restaurants in 120 countries giving it a strong market share and financial strength.
· The McDonald’s page has more than 78 m fans, and its local market pages have all attracted several hundred thousand ‘likes’.
· McDonald’s generally posts fewer than five updates a month yet each one attracts several thousands ‘likes’ and comments, which is more than the brands that posts several times per day.
· It is a worldwide brand and is a sponsor of international sporting events, such as the football World Cup and the Olympics, which has made its brand highly recognizable and valuable in terms of its coverage.
Weaknesses
· McDonald’s makes no apparent effort to respond to the thousands of user comments it receives, and most of its posts are merely product promotions.
· While many businesses use social to give a more rounded image of the brand by posting lifestyle content, McDonald’s just promotes its product range and upcoming changes to the menu.
· Poor social media interaction: don’t interact with their customers and just reply them when they post something positive.
· McDonald's menu is quite complex and covers a wide range of products, including some with a very high fat content.
· The franchise scheme can also mean that there are differing levels of service at McDonalds' outlets, which may impact on the brand.
Outcome
· McDonalds needs to make better use of technology to improve its service delivery and connections with customers, particularly in the face of growing demand for greater convenience in terms of the food-to-go market .
· Need to give their social media content some personality.
· Provide opportunities for consumers to ask questions.
· Improve their social media interacting by training their employees.
· Continued focus on corporate social responsibility, reducing the impact on the environment and community linkages.
What I learned
· I learned from this analysis how social media influences the success or failure of any business.
· Social media platforms are the main means of interacting with the audience.
· Know the strengths and weaknesses of any business or institutes that enhances the possibility of developing it.
· Good use of social media and interaction with the public improves the mental image of any organization, whether profitable or not.

People willingly providing free personal information & institutions benefiting from these information.

Social media often require users to mention some of their personal data, such as birthdays, geographical locations and what is preferred by the user of food and destinations for example, but at the same time give them the freedom to disclose them or not.
Of course, asking for personal information is not just a random process of identifying a person's identity, but it is often used to influence an individual's behavior or use it for promotional purposes. Some affiliates of social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter conduct deals to study the behavior of individuals in a particular community by using their personal information on those sites and then directing a specific ad that fits their intellectual and age orientations.
At the Gulf level, Kuwaiti exhibitors and traders may benefit from some personal data of their followers to direct a specific ad or idea. For example, when you know that the ages of followers ranging from 18-25 years will guide publications on fashion and make-up, while the situation may be different if the age of followers from children.
The same is true with the geographical locations where they are taking advantage of that information and choose a suitable place and close to the display of a particular product. Therefore, the use of personal information for users may be more than just an identity of the person, it is also a tool to affect user’s trends.
The question now arises is whether social media really have the right to use these data without the knowledge of the person who in turn provided it to the public without forcing form anyone!

The Use of Social Media as Social Support

Number of words: 292
Social media is used to document memories, learn, explore things, self-announce and form friendships. For example, they claim that communication through web-based services is more private than in real life. Furthermore, Renee and Willman (They are authors of “Networked” book) argue that everyone has the potential to become content maker. Creating content gives individuals access to a wider audience. Moreover, they can positively affect their social status and obtain political support. This can lead to influence on issues of interest to the person. As a concrete example of the positive effects of social media, the authors used the Egyptian Revolution in 2011, where people use Facebook to hold meetings, protests, etc.
Nowadays, anyone can access social media easily in any time and in any place. For example, many American get their news online rather than newspapers or the radio, and some of them who say they get news from e-mail updates or social media sites. According to a report published by CNN. The survey shows that Facebook and Twitter have made news more likely to share experiences than they used to. People also share news articles and comment on others' posts. According to CNN, in 2010 a statistic that 75% of people got their news via re-forwarding and sending by email or posts via social media, while 37% of people shared news via Facebook or Twitter.
Social media have a positive impact on adolescents with mental health problems, the opportunity to make friends and to find adequate support through the use of social networking sites. When the individual relates to a small group of adolescents who support him in the social network, these links represent the boundary between living in isolation and finding support.

Number of words : 264
With the beginning of the modern era, the so-called information revolution or the digital world emerged and its idea spread rapidly in the world; people become as if they are in a small village, only through digital connections on small devices. Of course, this will have a clear impact on the most prevalent and most commonly used group of these devices, namely, young people. This huge amount of digital information that reaches the hands of young people with the click of a button has to change in one way or another many of their principles and behaviors. The identity of the individual is among the things that may be within the direct influence of the global digital world. Regardless of the content of this digital information, just sitting for long hours to browse what is on your small device may change some of your social habits, so you are a bit isolated from the surrounding environment and taken by that small piece in your hand and your social conditions are an important element from your identity. Returning to content, the impact will be deeper and more comprehensive; many news and information will have a positive or negative impact on your intellectual output.
All in all, the digital world is so vast that it is easy for a person to discover completely new worlds and at the same time, gives you absolute freedom, whether you will be affected by this or not.

Misleading advertising is a widespread and old style that contain false or misleading statements in advertising. Although, because of regulations, deceiving advertising has changed through time. Policy makers have formulated a substantial body of laws and regulations regarding this type of advertising. This type of advertising is now illegal in many countries.
