The 12 episode series "My Wife Has no Emotion" starts out just a quirky "guy marries his ambiguously-sapient robot" but by the end of it his own family is roasting him on Asimovian moral quandaries.
imagine bringing your extravagant food processor (what this robot is actually designed to be) home to your mom and she's completely accepting that she raised an incel technophile BUT she has serious philosophical concerns regarding theoretical degrees of personhood in a rapidly evolving technological landscape

One thing I hate about the saiki k dub is the localisation and translation issues
One example I can think of is when Kokomi is asking Kusuo to hang out with her during summer break, in the sub/manga he says hanging out with her alone is scary (likely because of her crazy fans targeting any man who dares come close to her)

While in the dub he says this
VERY different sentences. Dare I say it might even be slight mischaracterisation
Another example I found was in season 1 episode 10 or chapter 51 of the manga, when Kusuo and Nendou are visiting Shun’s house
In this chapter, Nendou makes fun of Shun’s mom’s nickname for him, which makes Kusuo say he’s making him feel bad about his own nickname given by his mother
This makes sense in Japanese, since Shun is nicknamed Shun-kun, his name with -kun (common thing to call boys) at the end, while Kusuo is nicknamed Ku-chan, a shortening of his name with -chan (more commonly used for young girls) at the end which sound way more childish

This, however, does not make any sense in English as in the dub, Shun is called “Shun-baby” and Kusuo is called “Ku”. I think everyone can agree your mom calling you “baby” is more embarrassing than your name being shortened
I also just don’t really like the voices and don’t think most of them fit the characters

my saiki k theory is that after he wasn’t able to subdue the volcano the first time, he made the world into a manga with him as the main character so that he would have plot armor.
he also made it the genre slice of life on purpose both so that there would definitely be a happy ending and also so that his life would be less serious.

Teruhashi haters would not exist/barely exist if Teruhashi was a guy. I know that not everything is about gender and all, but I've seen PLENTY of male characters that are really handsome and think very highly of themselves. And guess what? Fangirls agree that those characters are hot, they justify every action they do, and they love those characters.
Ya'll love Kusuke for roasting Teruhashi, when BOTH Kusuke and Teruhashi are generally VERY arrogant. Ya'll WORSHIP male characters that are full of themselves e.g Gojo Satoru, Dazai Osamu, Edogawa Ranpo, Sukuna etc. So why is Teruhashi different? She's arguably a better person than most of those men mentioned above aswell. Just say you're a mysogynist. Everyone KNOWS you are one.

Saiki and Kaidou have such a sibling-like dynamic to me...like Kaidous the younger brother who keeps getting into Shenanigans and has the personality and looks of a 3 second old kitten, and Saiki is the older one who complains but still goes out of his way for him and has a bit of a soft spot for him....AU where Kaidou is adopted by the Saikis WHEN???

Saiteru/terusai has me in a choke hold. It's the best and only nonship ship out there that you want to ship by not shipping it. What strikes as unique about this ship is that Saiki from the get-go could have just solved his problem of being pursued by her by ripping the bandaid off and breaking her heart. How dare she have a crush on him? He needs to not stand out, and wants to go home anyway. He feels uncomfortable being projected on in that way.
But no, Teruhashi liking someone is not a sin, even if for shallow insecure reasons such as validating your self-esteem. He just happens to be the only guy that doesn't react to her shenanigans. By being authentic to himself, he accidentally makes himself stand out to her as a deficit of herself she has to fix.
He then goes from hanging out with her only when she inserts herself into his friend group, to hanging out with her alone purely out of pity.
But then we learn she doesn't just keep him around for status, in fact she gains nothing socially from being around him, and with her popularity it actually attracts conflict. Other girls compete with her, and at first its a source of validation to "win", but now at this point its more than that. At the mixer, Saiki gets to see what her feelings are actually composed of. Despite being a psychic, these feelings are more complex and take some digging to sus out. Turns out, she can't redirect those feelings of validation-seeking onto any other guy because its simply Saiki she wants to be around. For her, it'd be great to be the best looking, and it'd also make her happy to have the best relationship possible.
Once saiki realizes that teruhashi can infact value relationships not just for status but for their own sake, he connects with her. He goes out of his way to show his appreciation for her (anonymously of course- don't want to lead her on) such as VOLUNTARILY helping her brother buy her a present. Could she just have shitty presents? Yes. But... why not? He switches out her brother's terrible presents for something she actually likes, an animal mug that suits her taste.
He values her for her, even if he doesn't reciprocate the romantic feelings.
That's the warm-feeling good stuff that our favorite typical ships have, and the mushy gushy stuff is only a vehicle for expressing it in some relationships.
Its a direct call-out of fanonization, where because people irl have diverse sexualities that aren't often expressed in media, they project romantic love onto a canon friendship to create representation. Is this a bad thing? Hell no, stories deserve to be seen and shared through different lenses, thats what keeps them alive. If you want to romantically ship your saiteru/terusai, fuck it.
But having a deeper understanding of their base canon relationship will help you to better write in character, and even understand what makes relationships click in real life.
Its not about what you show, its about how you really feel deep down that matters. Everyone wants to be seen for their true selves.
P.S. if anyone actually reads this, I'm anime only and only halfway through season two. I have a hint of what's coming, but I hope what I've sussed out here gets delivered on later.
P.p.s. When I picture their relationship in a couple years, I want him to walk her down the aisle. Be the godfather of her kids (or cats) and play pretend as ciderman version 2. "Uncle" Saiki's house is lowkey goated cause they have a crazy (good) time every time they go there?
