I know it's because when it came down to it, his connection to Natalie is what was more important (led to his death), but I feel like he was even closer with Shauna. He was the only one she was willing to let use the hunting knife, he made her the carving of the wolf, AND she forgave him for looking in her journal then proceeded to give him pages until the very end (we see his drawings of the cave!!). A lot of it happened in the background, but it's crazy to me that no one really brings this stuff up when talking about Shauna. HE WAS IMPORTANT TO HER TOO, AND THEY MADE HER BUTCHER HIM. ALONE
