Miles Edgeworth is autistic

if im gonna have this URL i might as well make a post about it. so here goes:

- Edgeworth has trouble expressing his feelings to others. In the game, people often think hes glaring at them but he’s really not angry at all. 

- its also noted on the AA wikia that he doesn’t always know that he comes off as cruel/condescending to others. He feels he is just saying the truth.

- He often has trouble looking at people in the eye; a lot his talk sprites are him side glancing or looking away. 

- He hates unnecessary social events, such as reward ceremonies. In Rise From the Ashes, he felt that getting the prosecutors trophy was a pointless waste of time. Even as a child, he received many awards for things like golf, essays and playing the flute, but hated being in the limelight for these achievements.   (I suppose you could say marriage as a social event too?.. he does say he finds the ceremony to be pointless, but idk maybe he’s also saying that since he’s gay and just wants people to stop assuming he’s straight.)

- has some troubles with speech. He has trouble pronouncing stuff (im finghh, pyscho-locks, ect), sometimes stutters, or just responds with silence even though he wants to say something.

- He takes things said to him at face value. Even though its February, when Gumshoe says “Ask Bikini, she was a witness to the crime”; Edgeworth interprets it as trying to find an actual woman in a bikini. when Sister Bikini actually meets with him and even introduces her own name, Edgeworth mentally thinks “Okay, but where is the woman in the bikini..?”

- He needs to have things perfectly planned out beforehand. He will do this in trials to make sure he wins, sometimes even laying out traps in the witness’ testimony to make sure things go his way. When things go awry, he gets visibly very upset. Unexpected events that break his routine/plans make him easily frustrated. EX: In the Rise From the Ashes case, when Meekins tells Edgeworth unexpected information, he gets quickly angry, even getting everyone out of his office. 

- These following points are really head-canonish (srry), but we can tell from the Farewell, my Turnabout case that he does know a lot about teddy bears. he might like soft sensory things. He is said to be persnickety about his clothing too; he wears really heavy layers of clothes, this could also be a sensory thing. Tea might be a comfort food of his, seeing as he has elaborate tea sets brought to him by the hotel. 

- Last but not least, both law and the Steel Samurai seem to be special interests of Edgey’s. As a child, he was very passionate about learning about law and watching his father’s trials. as for Steel Samurai, he absolutely loves the show. He info dumps about the show to Gumshoe, owns merchandise of the show and mentions of the show make him really happy.

People of color are not being protected by the police and instead are being routinely killed by them

Muslims are under attack in the United States

Rape culture is alive and well in this country

This country was built on slavery

All the United States does is make wars with other countries in order to obtain oil

Majority of Americans hate immigrants even though we are a country founded on immigration

People still want a wall between the US and Mexico

Abortion is now under attack after the retirement of a Supreme Court Justice

Fat people are not given the respect they deserve

Women are not given the respect they deserve

The US won’t acknowledge that there are more than two genders out there, since intersex and nonbinary people exist

People with disabilities are not given the care that they need since Trump is trying to dismantle Obamacare, which has saved millions of lives

People are getting arrested for protesting ICE, which is a violation of the first amendment

There are long threads on twitter of doctors and nurses with literal decades of experience in pediatrics, trauma care, and emergency assistance talking about how they’ve tried volunteering their services at any of the centers where immigrant children are being held. Only they’re all being turned away and told DHS would prefer to work with volunteers who are ‘trained specifically for dealing with these situations’. One doctor with sixteen years of experience as a trauma doctor was told she was ‘overqualified.’

No. They’re turning away qualified medical practitioners looking to volunteer for the sake of the children, because said medical practitioners are mandated by law to report any child abuse they witness. The only doctors and nurses they want in those places are ones they can count on not saying anything about what goes on in there.

The fact that these doctors and nurses are trying to volunteer because they WANT to help these kids is literally what’s disqualifying them in the eyes of the evil pieces of shit who are running these places.
