The Best Cities in the USA – Chicago
There are many cities in the USA, but as a tourist of course you won’t have time to see all of them, so it’s best to base yourself around one area and spend a few weeks there exploring everything there is to see.
One of the best places to go as a tourist in the USA is Chicago – also known as the “Windy City”, because of it’s skyscrapers and the high winds that can develop in the area.
Finding a place to stay
It’s not too hard to find a place to stay in Chicago, it really depends on your budget. You can stay at luxury hotels in the downtown area or youth hostels on the edge of town. One of the best places to stay is also one of the oldest and most loved in Chicago – The Drake Hotel. The establishment has stood since the 1920s and has a rich history and some of the best food available in the area too. If you go around Christmas time, then the hotel is transformed into a beautifully decorated place that looks like a winter wonderland.
Another great place to stay is the Palmer House Hilton. Again, this hotel is one of the oldest and has been modernized according to Hilton’s world class standards.
Things to do
There are many things to do in Chicago and simply not enough time to do them all. As one of the best cities, it has very tall skyscrapers. One of the most famous is the Sears Tower which is the tallest building in the United States. The building was completed in 1973 and is 108 stories high. Tourists can go up to the observation deck and experience both stunning views of Chicago and the Great Lakes, as well as something truly frightening – the building sways from side to side on windy days!.
A trip to Chicago wouldn’t be complete without seeing the Cubs or the Bulls in action. Seeing some of the best baseball and basketball players live in their home town playing a game is truly a memorable experience.
If sports are not your thing then perhaps the cultured life will get you excited. Chicago is home to the world famous Chicago Art Institute, which was founded in 1879. The museum has a collection of art that goes back 5,000 years in human history collected from all over the world. Not only this, but the museum also has a graduate program which is renowned as one of the best in the entire world.
Party time
Staying in Chicago wouldn’t be complete without exploring some of the nightlife. The world’s premier comedy theatre and school of improvisation is located in Chicago – The Second City. In addition to this, Chicago is famed for its music scene – from Jazz, to Reggae, to Classical and everything in between. You can find live shows, the best cafes and the best restaurants very easily all over Chicago.

Each person gets to have one carry-on bag. You will want to make sure that each of your kids have one.
Speaking of carry-on bags for your children, be sure to fill them will fun activities for the plane ride. What you will choose will all depend on your child’s age. For example, younger children may benefit from books and a few small toys. For older children, portable DVD players, handheld video games, toys, and magazines are a great idea.
You will also want to make sure that you have extra snacks on hand and in your carry-on bags. This is important, as you don’t want to have to spend too much money at the airport. It can get costly to feed a whole family, even just with snacks. For that same reason, try to have everyone eat a full meal before you leave for the airport. For example, if you have an older child, like a teenager, let them help you with finding the right gate, carrying bags, or keeping any younger children occupied. Your trip will likely be much less stressful when everyone works together.

The term Top End refers to the northern region of Australia’s Northern Territory, which includes the state capital city of Darwin and the town of Katherine. Darwin is serviced by many international airlines and also by the Ghan railway which connects southern Australian cities such as Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide to Darwin via Alice Springs in Central Australia.
The Top End is a tropical region closer to Asian cities such as Jakarta and Singapore than it is to major southern Australian cities. Temperatures in the Top End hover around a comfortable 30 degrees C (85 degrees F) all year. Like most tropical areas, the Top End year is not defined by ‘summer’ and ‘winter’ weather but by what Top-Enders call ‘the wet’ and ‘the dry’.
These terms refer to the wet and dry seasons respectively, which should be taken into consideration when planning an itinerary exploring the Top End as road conditions and access vary greatly according to season. Wet season flooding can occur from November to April, and may cause temporary closure of routes to some of the more spectacular but remote Top End destinations.
Among the many magnificent natural assets that the Top End is endowed with are Kakadu National Park, Litchfield National Park and Katherine Gorge.
