a dream
I walked down a long narrow street surrounded on all sides by water and it became clear it was the last street in the world. A bodega, a key food, a wine store, some expanses of abandoned lots. In the distance above the water hovered some high rises that did not touch the surface, and I wondered how they got to the bodega, the key food, and the wine store.
Some people were with me with faces and names that don’t exist in my waking life, and they said “Oh yeah you just walk over the water to the buildings and there are invisible stairs up!” So we planned a coup, I fell into the water many times until I found the stairs and we made our way to the high rise (we had no plan, we did not think we would make it this far.)
Upon entry, it looked much like the temp office near Grand Central where I spent a year of my waking life, and the only thing I could think to do was ask to speak to the manager! We may have spoken, my memory drops here and I remember feeling my pillow on my cheek, but then I was taking the invisible stairs back down and fell into the water many times then too.

saddened to report that my neck mole has taken on an irregular circumference and must be removed. rip to my pal who has been with me for as long as I’ve been looking in mirrors, thanks for making me feel pretty and feminine regardless of the state of the rest of me, and fuck you to the kid in 2nd grade who pointed to you and the one on my wrist and said, apropos of neither myth nor science, that i was gonna die young because the marks were too close to my arteries (i’m a bad bitch, you can’t kill me)

Another quietly moving, funny moment, in which Leia bids goodbye to Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo (played by a violet-haired Laura Dern), also benefits from Fisher’s personal touch. “So much loss,” Leia says wearily at losing yet another lifelong friend. “I can’t take any more.”
Holdo smiles knowingly. “Sure you can,” she says. “You taught me how.”
The line, it turns out, was Dern’s own invention, echoing her feelings of admiration for Fisher, as well as those of her legion of fans. What comes next, Johnson remembers, was Fisher’s idea: Holdo attempts Star Wars’ timeless sign-off, but falters. “May the Force…” she starts, her voice breaking. Leia volleys back without missing a beat: “You go, I’ve said it enough.”
“And then they both say, ‘May the Force be with you, always’ together,” Johnson remembers. “That was Carrie, too.”
“That whole Holdo scene, that goodbye scene was actually completely rewritten with Carrie and with Laura,” he explains. “The three of us got together and worked through it. And the real heart of that scene came from Laura. It was her saying, ‘I just feel like, from my character to Leia, but also me to Carrie, I want to express what she means to me. I want to express my gratitude.’
