Okay so..

...yeah I came back ages ago but I lost the drive to put my photos up. I have a tendency to get frustrated when I don’t master things straight away and I felt that really the pics I was posting were rubbish. There are other reasons too but I won’t go into them on this blog.

But, I’m going to try again. Until I get back into the swing of things I don’t think I’ll be posting at my previous rate of 1-2 a day, esp since I’ve started to edit them more now (I’m finally getting the hang of Lightroom Basics I think)

For those of you who actually supported me and my pics with likes and reblogs, and have missed me - thank you for your support and sorry I was gone for so long. I hope I can continue to post stuff you like.

I'M OFF!

…for a week. Back on the 3rd (actually 2nd but really late so, yeah, 3rd)

I'm sorry I haven't been posting much recently. I have a whole host of pics to post but I've been kind of caught up with other things.

I shall try to resume posting pics at 2-3 a day so I can get caught up.  I may even try editing some of them!

Oh, and for those of you who knew I had entered and were interested in the outcome, sadly none of my three entries were chosen in the National Trust Bodnant Gardens photography competition.

Oh well, keep on trying I guess ^^

On professional presentation of art

Professional presentation of art is super important, it’s important when hanging art in a gallery, it’s important when presenting your portfolio, and yes, it’s even important online.

When art is not displayed professionally, and even worse displayed in a manner that is displeasing to the eye it is distracting to anyone looking at your work and may cause them to not want to give it a second look.  This can and will hurt you.

Borders are one thing that really help to create a professional presentation.  Without borders you are subjecting yourself to tangents and giving the viewer no room to breath.  And if you weren’t lucky enough to create something that matches the color scheme of where your art is being presented, then you are also giving yourself a host of color theory issues as well.

Neutral borders (often black, white, or shades of grey) solve these problems.  They give the art room to breath and the viewer a chance to see the art as it is truly meant to be seen.

This is a general rule about presentation, but yes it does relate to tumblr’s latest update which I hope the staff will resolve.  In the mean time I may start adding white borders to all my art here and I am definitely reinstalling xkit, I hope you all will do the same.

It's probably just an illusion caused by the composition, or the way I held the camera or something, but I could swear that you can see the curvature of the earth here :P

A friend came to stay at the beginning of July for a few days so we went out on the peninsula. It was a beautiful day for it and it was nice to go out with someone.

I don't take many photos of people (not that good at, and uncomfortable doing, it at the moment) but I quite like how this one turned out. It's not even posed :P
