When I lived in the land of trees
The neverending sky was all that I had seen
Sunsets in their orange flamingo pink
dancing on the horizon --stilt legged,
Preening at the sun
A Buddhist proverb says that "you are the sky
The rest is just the weather "
My eyes looked up and saw the deep empty surrendering blue, an expanse, a vacuum
Not a cloud in sight
I had my chants, memorized
I had my loves, my bottle
But soon the bottle turned to all that I seen
In that desolate, little town of
Chicharons as big as your head
I live in a different town now
Different loves, no bottle
But my mind's eye still turns to the trees, the fields
and that neverending sky that I had once called home.

Creative Writing Hack #2
Writing in Reverse
Starting with the ending of your story or scene and working backward can be a powerful technique for building suspense and tension. By knowing where your characters need to end up, you can strategically plant clues, foreshadow events, and create a more satisfying narrative arc. This approach also allows you to focus on the cause-and-effect relationships between events, ensuring that each plot twist and revelation feels earned and impactful. Additionally, writing in reverse can help you avoid common pitfalls such as plot holes or inconsistencies, as you'll have a clearer roadmap of how your story unfolds.

I read your words today
Or shadows of your words.
More like shadows.
They tell me a story.
About you ,
About me,
About us.
My betrayal,
Stinging me with thorns,
Stinging me with roses.
Sweet, noxious weeds,
Pouring out of my arms,
A garland for my head.
To say that I don't miss you
Would be a lie.
You were home.
An orphan amongst steepled buildings,
Afraid to step outside.
You write words for others
Words of love.
But, I ,
Your reliquary for coal, and woe.
It is over, yet
The pain will never stop,
The pain will never stop.

Love lost
As sinews of the heart
Breaked and stretched
You had me wake up to see the sunrise.
A wide new world, pond-side.
Fear flew over my mind
As we sipped Starbucks mochas
From the Drive thru in the morning
Was it the beginning of the end?
While we watched America's got talent
Singing out my heartstrings.
I miss you now
What we had and
What was once promised.
Shattered remnants
For years, I lost myself with you.
In you.
Slipped rings and drinkers delight
Stole, shepherded me away.
And I can never swim back to safety.

Poem a day
Body and voice
I want to kiss you
Like a book
Your spine opening and closing
Tension
I want to kiss you
Like a book
Knowing your pages
Prose--thick and thin
I want to kiss you
Like a book
Get lost in your words
Your worlds
Sensual dripping patterns
Cadences
Lost somewhere
in between the binding and the margins
I want to write poems for you
Your bindings
Bridging the gap between
Body and voice.
I want to kiss you like a book.

Poem a Day
The corridor
The corridor
Warped and raveled
Like a cosmic thread
A yo-yo
It was dark, dank
Filled with auburn fire skies
Lost amongst the void
The hedges enveloped him
Running his hands through the green
A prick, a pinch, an offering
The rain cried
And the labyrinth
which was once was emerald
Turned red, crying rubies
It seemed to go on forever
Disappearing behind him.
The only way was forward.
The man with no names
The man with them all
Made it through the twists and turns
For forever and a half.
Only to find himself
At a door,an entrance
Dark in demeanor
Haunted by souls
"Enter the labyrinth," they said.
In, behind nothing
Ahead, every direction, pointing out.

Poem a Day
Garlands
In the beginning
Her garlands fell
Off the tree
While the earths soul quaked.
We picked them up
One by one
Skulls, husks
Amongst the rocks and
Splintering trees.
Her soul fell with them
Leaving her to breathe
Incense, smoke and fire
We too breathed with her
Inhaling that smoke
From Gaia, our mother goddess
Her skulls became goblets
And the trees,
Preserved in amber time
Became lost to the millenia

Poem of the day
Queen Diamond --for Toya
You twinkle in the dark
Shines like the
Glint of the suns fury.
Admist coal and dirt
You sit high amongst
The others -- rubies, sapphires, emeralds
Perfection, child
Like the glint
Takes millenia to form
A diamond in the rough
Jagged edge become
Smooth mirrors
These prisms of light
Take pressure
And you queen
Reign high
On your throne,
Through it all.

Poem a Day
Mother Moon - for TenC
Your mother,
Like the moon
Waxing and waining
Over the earth
They devote the
Harvest to her
The ocean to her.
Let the harvest
Nourish her body and soul,
Let the ocean
Be bountiful.
Lord, fill her soul
With all she needs
To survive.
Let the waters bless
Her and her family.
As the moon tides
Let the mother moon
Hold you at night
As you persevere, shine bright.
Find peace like the moon
Sit in her serenity, your sobriety
For you need nothing more
But the calm of the lord
And the earthtides
That lap on the coast.

Poem a Day
Hello
Arms around,
Shielding the most vulnerable parts:
I see you wholey
Naked in your pain.
The Brahman, the holyman
The emptiness in you sees the emptiness in me
And yet, seeing you in the flesh
Left me speachless
The neverending sunyata
Our souls that don't know peace
Is that my destiny?
Looking for arms that do not hold,
And lips that stray.
You bring me to tears,
The crimson lines
My waterbearer
Lost before I even said,"hello."

Poem a Day
Freedom
The dreams came at night
Amid the toss and turn.
Lost limbs and
Monsters growl.
The neverending labyrinth
With windowless doors
Sightglass
And broken bones.
Alone in rags
His skinny limbs
Make it to the crimson door.
It's creaking groan
Opened--flash, bang
Blind in the dark.
One figure, eyes removed,
Cut off serpents
The sight of Medusa,
Made free.

Poem a Day
Mother Medusa
The fledglings fled
while Medusa
flicked her
cigarette made of gold
It was a lonely life
but the trees were her friends
and the blind came for miles
to listen to her lute and croon.
A sound borrowed by the sobbing coyote,
before he too met the fate
of man, Medusa, and stone.
The blind were the first to
taste the strawberry of her lips
hold her soft dainty hands.
But her progeny,
stood still like cherubim
And she wept tears like
soft petals hitting tin.
