Rroma You Should Know: Tony Gatlif

Born Michel Dahmani in Algiers in 1948, Tony Gatlif is a French Rromani director, screenwriter, composer, actor, and producer. He has directed such acclaimed films as Latcho Drom, Gadjo Dilo, and the highly applauded Kokoro, all of which are on the subject of Rromani history and culture. He was awarded the Best Director Award at the Cannes Film Festival in 2004 for his film Exils.
