as a certified CD nerd:
ripping discs is great! use FLAC, it's lossless so you don't need to find the disc again if you want to re-encode to a lossy format. i use Asunder for my ripping on linux, though i loved Exact Audio Copy on windows. srsly if anyone wants to clone the EAC UI it would be wonderful it works in wine but then you need to mess with getting files into and out of the wine prefix and just. ugh
did you know you can use an usb optical drive and a program like k3b to rip your favorite audio cds to a digital file format? you can then create your own personal digital library, and even burn your own mixtapes/playlists!

holy shit. might actually have to throw a few bucks at firefox at this point.
The Linux Foundation choosing to financially support Blink (Chromium) over Gecko (Firefox) is certainly a choice.
I've criticized a lot of Mozilla's actions in the past as they fight to break even, but if I was the financially struggling backbone of an entire niche desktop platform, and said platform decided to give copious amounts of time and money to my anti-consumer rival (who is very much trying to monopolize me into non-existence) then I'd probably turn into the joker, too. Damn.

is that cat5 cable? i swear it looks like cat5. the jacket shape is weird.
The people at the hardware stores weren't very helpful so I had to do it myself, but at least I finally can get my Christmas lights plugged in!

so excited for the next xfce because wayland means i can replace xfwm with sway instead of i3 and i wont have to stare into the void anymore (i dont know how to set a background in i3 cause it doesnt have a swaybg equivalent >_>)
hell yeah! i'm legit hyped for it. should be tomorrow if all goes well and we don't get a 3rd prerelease
ty for the ask!

thank you. and yeah, xfce is easily the most customizable DE out there. someone remind me to post my custom xfwm4 theme one of these days. took a few hours in GIMP.
Initial Post
alright, welcome to the definitely 100% official Wayfire gimmick blog.
I plan on actually posting about Wayfire tho. in case you haven't heard about it yet, "Wayfire is a 3D Wayland compositor, inspired by Compiz and based on wlroots", and it's pretty dang sexy if you ask me.
i currently still use Hyprland, but want to use this blog to document the transition over to a new Wayfire based setup. Here's my current one:
I plan on replacing a bunch of components with ags/Astral, a framework for creating desktop shell with gtk widgets on Wayland using Typescript.
I will also look into maybe switching theme from Cattpuccin over to Rose-pine, since their light variant is much nicer. Oh yeah, i might go light mode because that's what professionals like me prefer.
I'm currently still a bit bussy tho, so until I'm able to get some actual work done on the setup I'll probably be doing a little more gayposting, with the occasional software-focused post, much alike the rest of your favorite Linux gimmick blogs.

debian! debiandebiandebian. seriously my favourite distro to work on, everything's layed out simply and documented well.
i'm also obligated to say smth about xfce, so try it out! good and crazy customizable.
i might give single-boot linux another chance, i think i maybe shouldn't have used an arch-based distro on my main PC, i need something more stable. still love arch though
