The Diadem and The Soul
The Diadem had always had a familiarity with the human mind, but never had it held a soul. Not when the maker first put The Diadem on her head. Not when The Daughter stole The Diadem for her own. Not when The Diadem was lost. But then that boy found it, stuffed among things lost. He gave The Diadem the one thing they had no knowledge of, a soul. The Soul was broken, certainly, (The Diadem had seen enough minds to know that) but it was theirs, given willingly. The Soul came from a smart boy, if a bit ambitious. The Soul was from him at his most broken. Abandoned by the one place he felt control. But comtrol was not what the boy nor The Soul needed. It only needed a home, and while The Diadem may be small, The Soul fit comfortably. The Diadem did not know love, neither did The Soul. Together they grew to know all that their existence could be. Home and safety. Warm and healing. But The Soul knew the boy kept breaking. There were splinters of the boy spread throughout the world it once knew until only the anger was left in the boy. The boy would cause death just as The Diadem brought death to the Baron and The Daughter. They were just two lost objects, The Diadem cried, forced to be involved in the affairs of man. The Diadem could not protect their broken soul when the children came to kill him. The Soul fought hard for their home, bringing water and pain to their bidding, attempting to scare the children away. The Soul had grown so strong. The Diadem wept as their soul screamed for their home. Fighting with all they had. They were no longer a broken boy, but the children had their task. The Diadem wept as The Soul lost the fight. The Soul died sobbing, not for themselves, but for The Diadem who was once again alone for eternity. The Diadem had lost their soul.

The New Girl Pt. 2!!

TW: Drunk stories and closeted experiences
Unfortunately, it turns out Remus wasn’t a secret drag queen in college, rather it was Tonks that brought a reluctant Remus with her. That doesn’t mean the pictures of an exasperated Remus surrounded by drag queens and kings weren’t going to be used as teasing material later though.
“I only went because Dora loved it, I think we can all agree it is not really my crowd,” Remus joked, taking Tonk’s phone away from the grabby hands of the team.
“Common Loops, you looked like you were right at home!” James said, nudging him playfully. Remus just rolled his eyes and stood to take some of the plates to the kitchen. The dinner was mostly over by now, except for Tonks who had spent most of the meal telling increasingly wild stories about her and Rem’s times at the drag club.
Everyone seemed full and happy, both from the food and the fact that Tonks fit right into the dynamic of the group. They had been worried, some more than others *cough cough Logan*, that she wouldn’t fit in and the easy family dynamic would be lost.
Their concern was for nothing though, as Tonks took to their ribbing and humor like a fish to water. It also helped that she knew more about how to embarrass Re than anyone else. Already she had Remus blushing more than they had seen him do in weeks.
“Aw Remy, you loved it because you love me. Everyone thought you were so chivalrous, catering to all my whims,” Tonks threw over her shoulder despite the food she was stuffing in her mouth.
A few people around the large table exchanged glances. Well that sounded like it had romantic undertones.
Remus reentered the room once again rolling his eyes in Tonks’s direction.
“Yes, yes. Drag shows, helping with your cosplay, dying your hair. I was the best boyfriend in the whole athletic dorm, what a tragedy we didn’t stay together,” Remus said sarcastically like it was something they had heard many times.
Sirius felt like his brain was rebooting. Remus had a girlfriend in college? And she was now living with them and Remus didn’t tell him? And they used to be roommates?
Now Sirius wasn’t the jealous type, he knew Remus loved him and neither one was interested in sharing. And from what he’d seen, vibes between Tonks and Remus were more like siblings than romantic. But still, it seems like something Re would have told Sirius about. They had even talked about experiences they had in the bedroom and he was certain a girl was never brought up in relation to Remus.
Sirius looked away from Remus and noticed James looking between the two of them a bit concerned. Mother hen. He was probably trying to figure out if he needed to get everyone to leave so they could talk.
Everyone else in the room was silent, still taking in this new information so Sirius just shrugged at James before turning back to where Tonks and Remus looked to be talking with their eyebrows.
“You guys dated?” Sirius broke the silence.
“Technically no,” Tonks said, turning away from her eyebrow conversation. “But also technically yes.”
Well that wasn’t helpful.
Remus, who seemed to read the confusion on everyone's faces, sighed before clarifying.
“Tonks was my beard. And I was hers. Easiest way to avoid questions was to be in a relationship. Jeez, not like either one of us could come out.”
“Bestie beards,” Tonks chirped, “Big thing in student athlete circles, at least when we were there. Dorcas dated Peter, Mary dated Evan. Everyone was actually gay and hiding it.”
They explained with oddly fond tones how their friend circle at college was mostly closeted kids, yet their friend group had a reputation for serial dating in their friend group.
“Except for us, the ship of the hockey, tennis, and soccer departments. Best couple goals four years running,” Tonk said punching Remus’s shoulder.
“Jeez the amount of condolence messages I got from people after you came out and started dating Fleur. We had been “broken up” for a year, it was sad.”
Everyone started teasing them and asking more and more questions about their life as a gay straight couple. The memories seemed fond, but both of them looked like they wished they had been able to be open then. Tonks joked about how she honestly didn’t know how people didn’t pick up on the fact that she was so, so lesbian when she dragged Remus to drag shows, cut her hair into a pixie cut and then dyed it bright purple.
Everyone moved into the living room as Tonks continued to share about their life in college.
“Our first kiss was disgusting. Awful,” Tonk lamented.
“Aw Loops, hadn’t learned how to kiss yet had you?” Talker teased much to everyone’s amusement. Remus just laughed, cringing at the memory.
Apparently they had been two rooms down from each other in the CoEd athletic suites. They hit it off immediately, and like the closeted college freshman they were, decided to kiss and see what happened. It was, for obvious reasons, unsatisfactory for the both of them.
They decided that they both were definitely, definitely gay. But since they were athletes and being gay in a college locker room at that point was still a big big taboo, they figured they would just tell people they were dating. At that point they had already been hanging out during most of their free time and were in the same major so it was an easy transition. People had been asking them if they were hooking up anyway, might as well use it.
“We got better at kissing when in public eventually,” Tonks concluded, “Especially when we were both wasted!”
Ah yes. Finally. The drunk stories.
Remus, however, seemed hesitant to allow those stories to be told. Tonks was getting a wicked gleam in her eyes and looked like she knew she was going to enjoy this. Oh yes, Sirius thought, these stories were about to be gold.
“He used to kiss me every time he was about to do something dangerous or generally frowned upon,” Tonk started. “Especially throwing himself onto tables, stripping, fighting especially.”
“Fighting?” Natalie questioned, “Remus was a fighter?”
“Oh was he a fighter!” Tonk exclaimed, turning back to look at Remus who had a sheepish look on his face. “They don’t know about you fighting!?”
“I have grown up you know,” Remus mutters, knowing that she wasn’t really looking for and answer.
“Remus used to fight everything that even slightly insulted any of his friends. That boy would launch himself head first into so many fights I lost track,” Tonks said, “And he would do damage too, All those hockey muscles. Don’t let the thin frame fool you, Remy is all muscle and he knew how to use it, my god. He would deck anyone who said anything about my hair without thinking about it. Little demon he is.”
Everyone was definitely shocked by this revelation. The Remus they knew was not one to fight people, especially physically. Sirius on the other hand, was a little less surprised. Remus had told him that he used to have an anger problem before his shoulder got torn apart, tending to use his fists first.
Sirius expected Remus to look upset about what Tonks was telling everyone, he had been when telling Sirius about his past anger problems, but Re just looked amused at the reactions of everyone in the room.
“Just to clarify, I do not fight nor do I want to fight anymore. However I find the surprised looks on your faces when she said I would win very insulting,” Remus joked with everyone.
The tension in the room broke and everyone started laughing and asking about Re’s past as a jock asshole who defended his fake girlfriend to the death.
The rest of the night passed with laughter and many more stories exposing Remus for the wild child he was in college. Tonks was a very entertaining storyteller, and her and Re’s friendship had clearly not been diminished by distance.
The whole team left feeling like they knew their new teammate better having learned about his life before Gryffindor. And they were very much so looking forward to seeing Tonks and Remus interact at work when they had to be professional with each other as PT and player. Already there seemed to be a rivalry between the two about Loops trying to be his own PT and Tonks not letting him.
Everyone was feeling much more confident with having a new PT now that they had met Tonks. And the possibilities of more embarrassing Remus stories certainly didn’t hurt their excitement either.

The New Girl
Credit for Universe goes to @lumosinlove
“So, Loops is moving in the new girl today, huh?”
Sirius looked over at Harzy to respond and noted that the rest of the team seemed interested as well. They were all nervous about the new PT honestly, having gotten close with Remus. It helped that knew Remus and came with his recommendation, but still.
“Yeah, she’s probably there by now I assume.”
“What’s she like you think? I mean she was friends with Loops, yeah, but what kind of friends did he have in college eh?” James asks, looking over from the weight bench he was sitting on.
Everyone once again looked over and, Sirius. The only problem was that Sirius didn’t know. They hadn’t really talked much about Remus’s college years apart from hockey and Greyback. Now that he was thinking about it, they probably should have, it was five years of his life.
Sirius shrugged and went back to weight training with Dumo as his spotter. “You guys could come over tonight if you want to meet her I guess.”
“I’ll be there, just tell me a time,” Dumo says with a look that says he can tell Sirius was going through a mini-crisis about Remus having college friends. The rest of the team agreed as well before going back to their training.
That night when the team was about to head out Sirius got a text from Remus telling him that of course, everyone could come to meet “Dora” whenever. They were making dinner and would just need a headcount.
“Alright, Rem says Dinner will be served at 6:30, he and Dora, I guess, just need a headcount.”
“Dora? Is that her name?” James asks, already on his phone presumably texting Lily so she can get Harry ready. James didn’t even have to say he was coming, obviously neither he nor Lily liked to be left out of anything.
“Yeah I guess, that's the name in this text anyway. Re usually called her Tonks though so I’m confused.”
“Maybe wait for her introduction boys,” Dumo said diplomatically, “We’ll be there Sirius.”
After a brief headcount including most of the team, Sirius texted Remus back and headed out. He was nervous to meet someone from Remus’s college days. They had only really been around the team and Sirius hadn’t been introduced to any of Remus’s other friends. He knows he must have some since he hadn’t started hanging out with the team a lot until they started dating. They had just been busy I guess, with Sirius’s ribs, then the cup and James and Lily’s wedding, Remus getting recruited to the team.
They had only been living together for two months, and those two months had been busy.
It was time he met Remus’s friends honestly, and the one who would be living with them for the next months would be a perfect start.
When he pulled up to the house and saw an old minivan that looked like it had been painted aqua blue by someone who was not a professional. It was probably Tonks/Dora’s Sirius assumed and it only made him more nervous. For some reason, he had assumed that Remus was more of a quiet nerd in college, if a student-athlete, and figured his friends would have been the same. But if his college friend that he still talks to felt the need to paint their car bright blue themselves, Sirius was thinking his assumptions might have been wrong.
Suddenly the door burst open with a yell of “SIRIUS!!!!”
A tiny pink blob ran towards him and tackled him into a hug talking rapidly at him the whole time. “Ihavebeensoexcitedtomeetyouweneverthoughtremuswouldeverhaveaseriousboyfriendnopunintended.”
Once Sirius got over his shock he put together that this must be Tonks/Dora that would be living with them, though he still struggled to make sense of her rapid-fire words. We? Who was we? And why did they never think Remus would have boyfriends? How did they know he wanted a boyfriend, not a girlfriend? Was Remus out in college?
Despite the thoughts running through his mind, Sirius gathered himself enough to say hi and introduce himself. The girl had let go of him at this point, though she still bounced with energy.
“Nymphadora Tonks,” She stated, “But you can call me Tonks. Come on Remus is inside, he couldn’t step away from the cream sauce or he said it would burn.”
She turned away from him and flounced inside, expecting Sirius to follow her; which he did of course but she was a bold personality to be sure.
He took off his shoes and walked into the kitchen in a daze. Remus was in fact stirring a large saucepan full of cream sauce looking relaxed and unfairly attractive in gray sweatpants and a loose-fitting maroon Lions shirt. Tonks was perched on the kitchen island mixing a large salad. It looked very domestic. Sirius’s gut twisted, just how well did they know each other?
But then Remus turned around beaming at him, beaconing Sirius over.
“Hey baby, I missed you.” He said before pulling Sirius into a loving, heated kiss, that was perhaps a bit too long in the presence of others. Tonks didn’t seem to mind though, as once they released each other, Sirius turned to see her looking incredibly fond before turning back to her salad.
Sirius cleared his throat. “The team said they would be here around 6:30, so about thirty.”
“Perfect, thanks, Sirius. Dora was hoping to meet everyone casually before professionally anyway.” Remus said.
“I love it when you speak for me,” Tonks said suddenly, “Makes me all squishy inside.”
Remus turned to her saying, “Jeez, you promised not to be too weird Dora.” She responded with a shrug.
Remus seemed to accept that and turned to Sirius, motioning to some lemons and oranges near him along with a cutting board and knife.
“Dora and I made some punch. Cut these up to float on top?” Sirius nodded and got to work. They all went about their tasks, Tonks asking all sorts of questions about him, their relationship, the team. Nothing too deep, but Sirius could tell she was holding herself back a bit, probably because it seemed Rem had asked her to.
The doorbell rang and Tonks hopped up to answer the door before Sirius could even stand. Remus seemed to anticipate Tonks rushing to meet everyone and hadn’t even moved from where he was mixing the noodles and sauce together. Sirius could hear Tonks making introductions similar to his own, if a little more formal, to the rest of the team in the foyer. Almost everyone was there except James and Lily.
Remus looked in the direction of the foyer and then at Sirius, a fond look on his face. “She’s a bit excitable when it comes to new things, always has been. Best to just let her go at it than try and reel her in.”
“You seem close?” Sirius questioned just a little bit.
“Yeah, I know I said I knew her in college, but we were actually roommates, best friends even. It’s a bit complicated.” Remus said apologetically. “I thought it might be best for you just to meet her.”
But then everyone was in the kitchen, and they couldn’t talk about it anymore. Finishing touches were being made and food was moved to the table.
James and Lily walked in right as everyone was sitting down, but instead of introducing herself as she had with everyone else, Tonks ran to hug Lily.
“Lily! I missed you so much!”
“I’ve missed you too Tonks, I’m so glad you’re here!” Lily responded with equal enthusiasm before introducing Tonks to James.
“Wait, how do you two know each other?” Finn asked.
Lily, Tonks, and Remus explained that Tonks had taken a gap year between undergrad and her PT masters, during which she came and stayed with Remus for two months. Remus had introduced his college best friend to his Gryffindor best friend and they became fast friends.
The whole team seemed to be a bit shocked at the news that Tonks didn’t seem to be only a college friend of Loops, but a friend who had stayed with him and met other friends of his in a new town. They hadn’t really thought about Loops having other friends than the team and their families. It made sense that he would have friends they hadn’t met yet, after all, they had only become so close within the past nine months.
“Well,” Leo cut in breaking the slight tension, “Got any fun college stories to share about Loops here?”
“Can’t imagine Loops left the library or training center much, Harzy,” Talker teased.
“Oh Remy left the library alright,” Tonks threw out, “Would never catch him there longer than he had to be!”
“Tonks,” Remus said a bit warningly, if softly.
“No no no, Remy. I don’t know how you convinced these people you’re the calm and studious PT, but don’t you worry I’m here to tell all your wild tales.”
Remus rolled his eyes but turned back to his plate. The rest of the room looked equally baffled and eager. Remus a wild child? Loops who had always been sure to never get too drunk at any team party? Who was always level headed and responsible? It didn’t fit.
“Oh yes. Please, please, PLEASE. I need to hear about Remus’s wild days. PLEASE,” Natalie begged Tonks looking like Christmas had come early.
“What’d ya think Remy? Should I start with the drag shows at Madam Puddifoot’s, drunk stories, cursing and fighting, or New Year’s Sophomore Year?” Tonks said.
Everyone burst out with questions while Remus put his head in his hands, laughing quietly to himself.
“Drag shows,” Sirius said over everyone else, looking right at Remus before turning to look at Tonks. “Definitely drag shows.”

Recruiting Moony
Credit for Coops goes to @lumosinlove
It was way too early for Sirius to be walking into one of the Hogwarts locker room. Honestly, five A.M. was too early for any activities at all, but he was too full of nervous energy to sleep in today.
Coach had asked the whole team to come in, despite it being off-season to review the tapes of some rookie they had recruited outside of the draft. Kingsley, the Director of Scouting, was also supposed to be at the mysterious discussion with the team.
In the locker room, every member seeming to be curious over what this was about. They didn’t usually have to view the tapes of any new team members, that decision was usually handled by the coaching staff and Scouters, so they all knew this wasn’t a normal meeting.
Talker looked up from his conversation with Timmy when he entered, “So, Cap, what’s this about? I assume they told you more than us?”
“Can’t say,” Sirius replied, “Just have to see what they have for us.”
“Ah-ha, a media answer! So you do know what we are here for, or rather who.”
The room had quieted down during Sirius and Talker’s exchange, listening in to see if they could get any new info from it. All of them were sitting up a bit straighter at the revelation that Sirius did, in fact, know a bit more than they did.
“Common, Cap, give us a hint. Is he a risk? Old? Mean? Throw us a bone,” Talker pestered. He seemed to be the only one awake enough to do so at the moment, though the others were listening with growing interest.
“Stop bothering the Captain, Talker, you’ll know soon enough,” Coach said as he, the other coaches, and Kingsley entered the room, taking their places by the projector screen brought in after them.
Kingsley set to booting up the projector while Coach attempted to wrangle the team into sitting down.
“As I’m sure you may have noticed,” Kingsley began, “This is not our normal procedure when it comes to recruiting new players. But, we felt this was a special case that you all should have a voice in before we make an official offer.”
On the screen, a player profile picture popped up, and next to it a collection of videos, stats, as well as a separate pop up with Gryffindor Staff info. The team took in what they were seeing in stunned silence.
Remus. It was Loops.
Sirius didn’t look away from the screen, afraid to make eye contact with anyone.
“Uhh, is that Loops?” Dumo said with clear confusion on his face.
Kingsley continued on with his presentation as if not interrupted or impacted by the suddenly odd energy in the room.
“Remus Lupin: age 25, so he would be on the older side as far as rookies go. Wisconsin Hockey starting left-winger from his freshmen year until Junior when he had a shoulder injury caused by a teammate causing him to be removed from the team and NHL Draft eligibility. A story I think you are all rather familiar with.”
Sirius looked around at everyone, mostly seeing faces of confusion still, and a few with understanding and excitement beginning to form.
“What I think most of you are less familiar with, is what Lupin has been doing since then.”
“He’s been our PT Kings, we know. What are you leading up to?” Finn cut in.
“I’m getting there Mr. O’Hara. As you said, Lupin has been your PT since he was finishing up his last year of his Physical Therapy Masters, but I am not here to discuss his credentials in PT. I’m here to talk about Hockey.”
“Lupin was put on a strict PT and recovery program after his shoulder injury and regained most of his abilities within a year and a half after the injury. He says he has kept up with his PT since then, as well as various conditioning and weight training programs he put himself on as a PT.”
“Are you trying to sell us on Remus for the team? Cause he kind of kicked our asses a while ago if you remember, if you want him on the team we won’t fight. I would actually be thrilled,” Kasey said cutting off Kingsley once again. His point emphasized by nods and smiles from the other members.
Kingsley sure was taking his time with whatever his presentation included, and by now most of the team had caught on to what was happening.
“I understand you think the entire explanation unnecessary due to your familiarity with Lupin, but it’s a unique situation and PR wanted you all to know the full story,” Coach explained. “I know it’s weird but it was deemed necessary.”
“How about I move on to some tapes,” Kingsley suggested, “These tapes are from Lupin’s junior year at Wisconsin, followed by some more recent tapes of Lupin running drills as part of PT.”
The tapes began playing on the projector, ending the discussion, and captivating everyone in the room. They watched Remus skate smoothly around the entire of the opposing team, going fast than any player on the ice by far. He was yelling at his teammates as he skated by calling plays.
“I didn’t know Loops was captain,” James whispered, noticing the C stitched into his jersey.
The tape showed Remus calling for the puck before racing towards the goal, shooting it in before the goalie seemed to even process it. In the tape, Remus threw his head back and howled as his teammates swarmed him and the buzzer rang.
“Moony! Moony! Moony!” was being chanted by the crowd before the tape cut.
Kingsley proceeded to play twelve other brief, but just as impressive, clips of Remus, commenting on different skills in each that the board and coaches felt would add to the team.
Then more recent tapes began to play, these ones are clearly taken without Remus knowing as he skated through drills, just as fast and skillful as he had been in college. The hockey captain in Sirius immediately picked out not only his speed but also his control of the puck and balance as he skated. He was good; was still good.
“Damn, when does he have time to skate like that?” Talker threw out.
“Uhh, he comes here at five every morning. I always thought Moody had him organizing early or something until I saw the tapes,” Sirius confessed, “Turns out he was actually running drills for a couple of hours in the morning before he had to clock in. Been doing it for years according to Moody.”
“Cool, so what’s the hold-up? Should we vote on it? I think we are all good with Loops joining the team, as I’m sure you knew we would be.” Logan said clearly over, sitting in the meeting room. He probably wanted to go celebrate Loops. And probably make fun of him for the college team nickname they had just learned.
“Well, if none of you have objections, we will move forward with Lupin’s contract. Thank you for your time and input.” Kingsley said as he swept out of the room.
The team all turned to look at Coach, silently asking him with grins stretched wide and excitement finally taking hold in their minds after the unnecessary long meeting. Honestly, while seeing Remus’s tapes was fun, did anyone really think they would object to Loops being on the team?
Coach noticed the looks, and grinning back at them said “I believe Lupin is currently doing his regular drills on the rink if anyone wants to watch before conditioning starts.”
Before Coach had even finished his sentence, the team was racing out the doors towards the rink.
“Eh Moony! You think you’ll still howl when you get a goal even if we call ya Loops?” Talker shouted out at Remus who was, as predicted running early morning drills. Remus whipped around at the name looking shocked and mildly scared at all of them.
“I’m guessing they showed you the tapes then?” Remus yelled back as he skated over to them.
“Oh yeah they did,” Logan replied laughing, “Can’t believe you’re the howler out of you and Cap.”
“Oh fuck off.”
